Very much agree with your take. I was pretty happy with the series up to the final two episodes. I was prepared to give "The Legend of Ruby Sunday" a pass if it led to something good, but then... Completely agree the first part had no plot, just lots of seemingly unrelated mystery boxes. Which turned out to be pretty much unrelated really, or at least their connection was dubious at best. Just for a moment I thought it might all tie in nicely with "73 yards" which would have been a bonus, but even that didn't seem to happen. At least RTD didn't manage to undermine "73 yards" which I thought was pretty good actually, I'd rate it as good as "Boom" and "Dot and Bubble".

Even judging TLORS on its own, it still doesn’t hold up like other part ones to finales. But I’m someone who doesn’t like to let a finale ruin the entire series, as I was really enjoying it. That middle trilogy of Boom, 73 Yards and Dot And Bubble seemed to be the peak of the series quality wise

Right! Space Babies: I admittedly don’t think that it’s as bad as people say. I had fun with it TBH. It’s still pretty naff though and it’s kind of awkward that the ‘scary’ villain was less scary than the babies The Devil’s Chord: Maestro is legendary but the rest of the episode could have been expanded that bit more. I will defend the ending musical number though because why wouldn’t they include it in an episode about music? Boom: The best episode of the show since 2017. It was tense, captivating, incredibly well acted and just all around really well done. This episode proved how much I love Ncuti Gatwa 73 Yards: And this episode proved how much I loved Ruby. This was so unique and so creative. It was weird, yes, but I honestly really liked it (and I feel like I was the only one not confused because the ending is literally just Donnie Darko) Dot and Bubble: The finale part of the banging middle trilogy in this series. It was a really unique societal commentary with an ending I didn’t expect but kinda liked in a dark way Rogue: Rogue and The Doctor’s dynamic helped to save this relatively forgettable story The Legend of Ruby Sunday: A whole lot of set up without much payoff but the time window was cool Empire of Death: A really weak, anticlimactic finale for me which I’ve forgotten almost everything about. I liked the reveal of Ruby’s mother being ordinary though

I’m pretty much in agreement there. I may be a bit harsher on Space Babies and Rogue, and probably kinder on Devil’s Chord, but yeah more or less I’d agree
