So, this video is going to be a bit different. It’s less focused on Film/TV/ Pop Culture, and instead a broader look at trends to do with KZbin and Social Media, specifically with the impact and potential negative influence of Short Form Content, based on my experience as a content creator who has dabbled in making Shorts on KZbin. It’s something I’ve been interested in recently, and wanted to put it into video form, so that is what this video focuses on.

Thanks for providing the creator's POV. Originally, I didn't like shorts when they first came to YT, but now I use them as a tool for evaluating new channels. I can decide in 30 seconds if I want to see more from a creator or not. I will only watch shorts from a lot of channels because they don't have enough "horsepower" to produce more than a minute of quality video. With channels such as yours, though, I watch everything because I know you won't waste my time.

Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. I didn’t really consider that approach to viewing YT Shorts, but I suppose it serves the broader point that they should be more of a companion piece to their full work. And as I alluded to towards the end of the video, I recognise that we live in an era of information overload, so people won’t have time to watch ABSOLUTELY everything that people make. But I am grateful that I’ve gained trust as a creator based on my work from yourself.

Great video man! It was definitely different, but I liked seeing your passionate discussion about this. Me personally, I've never been big on the short form content, but it was largely because of how the more technical and psychological effects (the decrease of attention span, stuff like that). Your video provided a nice alternate and nuanced perspective surrounding it. I think shorts can be good when they're intentionally short videos that don't need full context to require a full experience. There's a lot of short form content that provide simple things that don't need to be technical and long-form. Shorts that you've posted that aren't the rankings are some examples of this. This is also a suggestion if you continue doing short rankings, but providing a rating out of 10 would help provide a bit more context into why you think a certain way. it's obviously not going to be the full picture as a traditional long-form ranking, but the people's complaints about stuff being ranked too low may be solved or lessened because they have a number score to go by. Arguably, it could give the viewer a bit too much to read, but that just seems a bit stupid if I'm being honest.

Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. I think you’ve got it there, short form content shouldn’t be made in exchange for more lengthy, in depth content. I did admittedly consider putting scores on the shorts ranking if and when I continue them, but after hearing you suggesting it, I will definitely do it.

Yeah, I agree with basically everything you say. Context is an important part of life and the 60 second limit on shorts really hinders that context for a lot of people and can lead to the wrong conclusions being drawn. I had a feeling that some of my Shorts rankings would be controversial (particularly the Tarantino one with my placement of Jackie Brown) so I felt obligated to leave a statement at the start saying that I liked all the films so people wouldn’t get as defensive. It’s not much but the tiny bit of context went a long way for a video with none of that To be honest, I really don’t like short form content. I’d much prefer something longer and more intelligent personally. I only make shorts myself because I prefer making them to watching them. It’s just a shame that they often get more views than my proper videos

Tbh I was more offended at Hateful 8 over Hollywood 😂 But yeah you’ve hit the nail on the head there. “Context is an important part of life”, perfectly put there.
