Personally I like Limp Bizkits version better, because I understand why he (Fred Durst) chose to cover this song. He was always seen so horribly when he was at the peak of his career. They treated him horrendously and was one of the most hated people in America. Despite actually being an intelligent person and having so much to offer, nobody cared enough to get to know or see that side of him. You look back and can’t even begin to imagine what those days were like for him, it’s so sad. You can really feel the emotion when he sings those lyrics. His version is more emotional I would say.
@Tatkovi-px7mx2 жыл бұрын
You were asking: why behind blue eyes why blue eyes... because its magurlly accepted that blue eyes represent like purness the sky etc. aaand he is saying no one knows what is like to be the BAD MAN to be the SAD MAN so like beeing with blue eyes that reporesent peace or purity he actually is beeing the bad,sad guy which has vangance for love and i know you are black american and probably wont understand the blue eye part or you will think its racist but at least from Europe where i am from thats how its exepted even in my country we have a saying HONEST BLUE EYES so yeah i hope that makes it a little bit more clear or at least my enterpretation from the other part of the world (sorry for the bad english not native)

Crucify me if you want, but I really prefer Limp Bizkit's version. The "happier" rock part in the original didn't felt well to me, and I think Fred's vocals suited the lyrics better. And personally I don't care about the "L.I.M.P." part, because they do it in a lot of theirs songs. To me, LB wins this one.

The WHO’s original version sounds more angrier whilst the limpbizkit cover is an absolute whinefest replacing the bridge from the original version with a Speak N Spell and a third verse which took a stab at Britney Spears which Fred Durst had an affair with during the recording of “Results May Vary.”

The difference for me between both versions was... 1. I always felt that the Who's version was a form of 'autobiographical' self analysis by Pete Townsend, and as such every last aspect of the song was carefully orchestrated to match exactly what the lyrics displayed at a much deeper level - i.e. that behind the 'pretty' and 'simplistic' exterior of the man with "blue eyes", lurked darker complexity held in constraint by forces that might at any moment be overwhelmed by the inner turmoil. 2. Limp Bizkit's version - while a decent homage to the original, that to some degree indicated that the 'darkness within a light exterior' aspect of the original was understood to some extent; it wasn't felt with the same intensity that the person who originally composed the piece felt deep within themselves, and felt the urge to express in a way that would be patently obvious to those attuned enough to appreciate it. So; I concur with Sistah that the original Who version is "superior" to the Limp version. Of course, I am only too well aware of the music industry's capacity to redirect the intentions of musicians who record music with a particular outcome in mind - which may well be the case here, with the inclusion of the "Discover L.I.M.P. Say it" repeated four times bollocks, that comes across as gratuitous self promotion and aggrandisement, that as Sistah noted; indeed stripped the song of any gravitas as a respectful homage of the original it may have held up to that point. BTW Sistah; due respect for your opinion! You do know that the difference between an amateur and a professional is that one gets paid while the other does it for the love and enjoyment of what they're doing?! I know which I reckon is more 'trustworthy'!!!!! And... an "ex-purt" is someone who used to be lithe, supple yet firm - and now, despite any piece of paper they can point to as if it indicates otherwise, they are like the Bizkit in your comparison - all limp. 😁😯🙂
