What a gorgeous collection! Thank you so much for sharing! Btw the hana in hanagokoro (花心) is the word for flower, but gokoro (心) here (and in every ink name in this collection that has gokoro or kokoro in it) means “heart, mind, spirit”. So together 花心 hanagokoro means “a mind like a flower, fragile and shifting”. Everyone of these ink names with the “heart” kanji has a deep, figurative meaning like that as Sailor says the colors are inspired by the “fluctuating heart”. Sorry if its too much info or you already know this, but I just wanted to share because I thought it was so cool! And thanks again for the awesome content!!

Hanagokoro is a traditional fertiliser for bonsai trees and comes in little brown balls. 😅 I think it’s probably named poetically after the fleeting heart/ flower heart. Maybe the colour of the ink alludes to the earthy colour of the fertiliser (Japanese have a sense of humour too) 😁

Can you please do a video on your favorite inks in each brand? That would be so interesting.

i love seeing these all in one spread! thank you so much! its funny how different some of these look on different papers, especially amamoyoi looks very different on the midori i use for my current journal! if you want a little cheat sheet to japanese pronounciation: "a" is always "ah", "i" is always "ee", "u" is always "oo", "e" is always "eh" even on the end of a word, and "o" is always "oh". ones like "bya" are pronounced just like "yah" just with a "b" sound at the front ! (those "you" sounds can be a little weird, theyre made of "oh" and "oo" but when you say it out loud it kinda just sounds like "oh" but stretched out) im sorry for that being a wall of text!! i thought it might be more helpful to say it like that than list every single one ^^; you got a lot of them really well!

if you wanted to know, kitsune biyori means "fox weather" and its a saying for when the sky keeps tricking you about what the weather is, which i think is so charming!

its so sweet that you tried your best with the pronunciations! The swatches turned out great. The only thing I dislike about the video it that it makes me want to buy mooooooore inks!!! haha

I own a bottle of suki gokoro because I love green and felt this was a unique ink. On tomoe river paper I found it to look blue-green with the red sheen. So beautiful. On other papers it looked more green-gray with less to no sheen. I am wanting the hana gokoro next, and after watching your video, am considering the kitsune kiyori. I am also considering the amamoyoi. Thank you for the video and detailed explanation/thoughts of what you are seeing.

You're so welcome! I honestly like the whole collection and each ink is very unique.

My bottle of Amamoyoi arrived moments ago and at first I felt a little disappointed that it seemed beige and not green. I was using a fine knib fountain pen. After swatching the ink in my medium knib I found I did indeed like the ink and saw some of the green tones. My impression is that it is pinky beige with a tease of light green here and there in my Hobonichi techo. Thank you for your video and helping me make this purchase. The Amamoyoi is unique in my collection of inks and I love it. Hana Gokoro is next... @@mydandeliondiaries

Great video as usual. You are so structured in your presentation. Well equipped and prepared with all the nessasary tools on hand. Precise and straight to point. I bet these ink would be great with flex nib. Its available here where i lived and i am gonna get the Kyokuya, ink it with my Eastie Raven button filler. Amamoiyoi will looks great with a demonstration pen. Great video 😊.

I love your videos, especially the full line reviews. The colors in this ink exploration were so beautiful! Would you consider doing a video on the full line of Kyo No Oto inks? There isn’t much on you tube showing them. Thanks for all the hard work you put into your channel. Your videos are a pleasure to watch (and rewatch) :)

The more I learn about inks the more I learn to love the more muted ones. I love clear, saturated colours so of course my eyes fell on Dategokoro first, but then the subtle shifts in the muted colours blossoms before my eyes. It's a beautiful experience! 😇🩵🙏🙌

That is so wonderful! I agree the color shifting and the "halo" that some inks have are some of my favorite things right now :)

I too love the Yoi- I also have bought bottles of Suki and Kangyou- they show up a lot more interesting on the hobonichi paper. I use primarily Midori paper and the colors come out very different but still lovely.

I'm so glad you love them! I find the Midori paper gives a lot of inks a warmer look, which is lovely. It amazes me how paper affects ink so differently!

I have Seki and love it. But I may need to get those last two 😍😍. This collection is quite beautiful. The first one with that navy and red sheen…I have to use black at work, but I feel like I could use this and feel a little rebellious at the same time. 😂

I bought two of these inks. They look dark enough here, swatched or with dip pens….but even in a wet, broad nib, pale and wishy washy. Barely show up.

Oh no :( I'm so sorry. The paper may change the color of the ink as well. Sailor inks have a different appearance on different papers. If you can't find a use for them, I'm sure they are resell-able!

Hey love, if you learn hiragana (the Japanese alphabet), you will be able to pronounce the names with ease. You would be surprised how fast you can learn it, maybe 2 weeks or less. Love your videos!

A good rule, well not rule , but hint, it's that typically these Japanese names are not going to have "long a" sounds in them.
