This is such a beautiful reminder. I started my “journey” in my early twenties and as life goes, have had very hard challenges that made me choose to go blind and numb myself for years. I feel like I’m finally getting back on the ol spiritual escalator, and reminders like this seem to come at just the right moments. Nothing but love folks. As an old “friend” told me once, it’s not in kneeling down and praying that you’ll get to known God, it’s in your willingness to change and be changed.

How to NOT take the world or ourselves too seriously is the doorway to enter into peace and loving kindness, but it is so damn hard. It feels like being in a torrential, mighty river being swept away and someone on the shore saying, "Get out of the raging river and ease your mind." The more you try to swim against the crazy currents of life the more exhausted you become. Still, to think of regaining the innocence and wide eyed wonder of a child gives me hope.

Alan Watts put words to stuff that's been rolling around in my brain for a while now. We twist ourselves into knots trying to find meaning in our life and the stuff going on around us. And just when we think we've got it, the humorous world chucks in stuff that breaks that sense of meaning. Its the surprise musicality of life I suppose, the way it hits you hard enough to feel important, and therefore meaningful, but the music and the feeling was only temporary. Here... and then gone.
@anatman6304Ай бұрын
Alan Watts speaking has saved my life several times over the decades. But, alas, the intense awe & wonder with which the world did excite me has been replaced with a dream that, just after emerging from the birth canal, my first thoughts were along the lines of "Bloody Hell! WTF!" or "What fresh hell is this?!". The line between hardship toughening you up and breaking you beyond repair is very thin. I crossed over to the latter many moons ago. Now, I just take care of myself as best I can to avoid more suffering than necessary as I await death which cant come too soon. And if I meet a "god" at that time, well, let's just say that I can not share here, in polite company, the words I would have for her/him/it.

The attitude of Heaven isn’t serious. 5:15 We expect things to make sense. We think time will solve problems. Maybe this world is like music. The goal isn’t in the future.
