While I don't really mind the new simultaneous release schedule, it's fair to complain about it being fitted to a primetime evening slot in the Eastern US rather than the UK. In the modern era people consume content from all over the planet (even using VPNs to bypass regional locks) and the notion of "teatime tradition" is really rather old (sadly - speaking as someone who was parked in front of a B&W TV for late Troughton). So the only contention that remains is which region gets the most convenient time slot for first crack at social media discussion. Call it jingoistic, selfish, entitled if you wish but the show always has been quintessentially British - to the point where other nations have often struggled to understand it at all. Americans and Australians haven't had a good deal from Dr Who? They had constant syndicated repeats for decades while we just got the same four stories repeated on occasional anniversaries. Back in prehistory, kids, when the Target novels were our "DVD collections". Incidentally the phrase in British English is "not that big an issue" not "not that big of an issue" and "premiere" isn't pronounced primeer. Encroachment of Americanisms on casual British English is a not unrelated issue...

I know full well I’m sounding like a broken record, but: This is especially annoying for people like me, who are more than capable of rejigging their schedules around a 00:00 start, but have no reason to do so because BBC iPlayer still refuses to offer the option of having both subtitles and audio description available on the same programmes simultaneously! (It’s theoretically workable on a laptop, but that’s far too small to be a shared screen, and not sufficiently reliable in areas with less-than-perfect connection for such things!) (There’s also [for me] the issue that I’m working on _Doctor Who_ episodes on X all day Saturdays as it is, so I can’t even just avoid social media to dodge spoilers!)

0:00 UK is the same time as 5,6,7,8 US though the people on X are lying themselves when they say UK is later as they didn't put UK to US conversions into it which says same time uploads. Earlier US times no it isn't it's the same time as being uploaded on Sky + when I wake up in the morning often means it was there since 12am. Well we do watch it when we get up though so I guess we still get spoilers although it's same time watching you got a point.

Drops at midnight, so if you're obsessed you can watch it then or you can just do what normal people do, go to bed and watch it at your leisure or when it airs later on BBC One. I just personally feel like the UK should have America’s drop time of 7pm. Selfish ik but I’m not furious with what we’ve actually got tho. I think the perfect scenario would be the episodes land on iplayer an hour before on tv, so 6 or 7pm. As the time slot is not certain to be exactly the same each week dropping it on iplayer at the same time every week an hour before would still have that regular time drop and for the rest of the world too. Having it drop an hour before the episode airs would make streaming look favourable as u can get it earlier, but also still decreases spoilers as by the time people have finished watching it earlier when dropped on iplayer, the episode has started on tv when people aren’t on their phones. I get u can avoid watching social media, but that’s difficult for certain people, also could be spoiled by news or conversation

7pm = 12am We get it the same time the issue is the UK tends to watch it when we wake up and not 12am anyway so we do get spoilers unless we watch it on our 7am - 12pm random startings with no socials until after it's over then it would be spoiler free but we do get it same time america is -5,6,7,8 to a UKs 12am. It is exactly a simulcast if you don't watch anything else at 12am if you do then it is next day or if bedtime is before then I guess as well or before 1am at 0:30 which means the almost 1 hour can't finish before you turn it off. But then due to the stuff ruining Sky with us still paying for Disney packages costs but not getting any Disney content after they pulled it or cheaper subscriptions to reflect a non Disney landscape I still have a bone to pick with their shady business practices anyway and I guess not having any hours of UK exclusivity but having an american time simulcast on a UK based show grinds my gears a little more. And what we do still get in our subscription Utsav Plus and Utsav Bharat shows with english subtitles on them only still being given piss poor snap endings which is literally a selfie from a camera no real endings.

I enjoyed the latest episode I think it brought it back to basics of the darkness and the suspense from this 00s still running era of Who a 12 rated one and it also took out the wokeness this episode by making Ruby a bisexural character although he got dumped by her he still became her boyfriend at the pub official even though it was only for a little bit. One thing I thought was lacking was the Doctor himself on the episode though and I also think for a Russell T Davies it was a faller of a year overall until now as well because of the lack of classic Doctor Who villains as the only one of the mainstays I've actually seen is The Toy Man from years ago. It doesn't help that I've had a bias against Disney for a bit anyway for the past 4 years after they pulled everything from Sky in a bad decision which left us everyone who has Sky including yourself if you got it before 2020 paying for a Disney/FOX subscription on Sky and not getting a reduced price of subscription after it was pulled or not getting it for free included in Sky Cinema the Disney + Digital offering on everything from Sky+ to Stream like Paramount +. And how they have treated the channels left standing Utsav as well pulling shows to score lower BARB and TRP ratings around the world than they pulled at first to what it used to get and then when it comes to the endings those getting the rushed out treatment of here's your shitty camera selfie with the cast or women passing a degree and thats it without showing what she did with the degree which was a crime frontline investigations for the papers degree and catching that criminal with her cop husband I thought would have made a much better Imlie 3.0 ending one of justice served for the cops and current husbands brother also her ex husband fighting on the frontline together to get him and report it to the paper and get him time behind the bars for a real climax. And the kids U-PG episodes. Russell T Davies since the 00s was always a 12 it needs to stay that way it can't be made into a kids show or it will fail the only one for kids is Sarah Jane just bring a new version of that out if it's going to do kids episodes but leave 00s era Who's target audience alone like this episode past. Last of all Disney haven't allowed Davies to bring us most of the classic villains so far only the Toyman we need more Santorians "only talked about but seen none", Daleks, Cybermen ect. Even a better storied version of The Sea Devils return as well wouldn't be a bad thing.
@wrestletube1

I enjoyed the first few episodes and it's far better than any of the Chibnell era but I also agree with the people as well. The Wholigans are the people who make the Whoniverse so if the show takes away the fans it will take away our show as Disney now it's under them are strict when it comes to BARB/TRP it scores low one week it gets thrown off the air with a bad ending the next month. Imlie's ending still boils my blood due to a week of bad TRP and it being pulled from Disney's last channel standing Utsav Plus with English Subs the ending was rushed and we never see Imlie use her just awarded certification in an investigation on the frontline with her cop husband for newspaper Baskar Times and we never got to see the person who knocked Agasta off of the cliff to his death get justice behind the bars. We don't want bad ending shit to happen on our show due to Disney not being happy at fallen Doctor Who ratings where it's only us who keep it going as everyone else is leaving it's not good. They need to deliver sexuality in a way that isn't woke or being pro anything they need to have a unbiased view on sexuality and a delivery that isn't woke of those subjects being impartial to everyone Ruby is a Lesbian and the Doctor is no sexuality due to being a timelord that can morph into any sexuality and any gender they have a platform where they can do something different to real life sexuality like maybe the non sexuality doctor having a love relationship with a Lesbian breaking woke and pro sexuality type standards completely. And Russell T Davies writing is about the dark edgy 12+ storylines what is he doing making episodes for kids when thats not his original vision or even his vision now it's obvious Disney is forcing him to do stuff that is outside of his creative control and the overall fans are not liking it and leaving. It's like Disney came in to sabotage it get it to score low TRP due to their directions and get it thrown off the air before a real ending is made making a poor quality rushed out ending like Disney's Indian show pulls on Utsav with rushed out unfinished endings. Now if thats not the case they will take on the fans direction and maybe change the direction back to the real Russell T Davies 12+ rated vision or it is sabotage because we know what Disney are like on these Indian shows for low TRP because other than Who it's all we get from them as TV airing shows in the UK now so the UK started watching Utsav Plus for Disney output on a real TV and I am mad at good shows on there being pulled to low TRP and being given insufficient rushed out crappy endings I hope that doesn't hope on Doctor Who which I've been loyal to since 1985 when I was born and the current era even through the poor quality Chibnell era I hated and couldn't understand the plot of after Season 1. The plot is back on quality though but the target audience of the episodes is just wrong for Russell T Davis it's not a kids show but always a 12+ but family other than that starting age show since the new era started but now it's putting out rated U style episodes I'm a big autistic adult kid so still enjoyed them but I have to take it from the unbiased view that many didn't and also they have a point about woke being kept in from Chibnell despite Russell T Davies never writing woke in Who until now when they left the show due to it but came back due to RTD and it was more of the same woke so they were gone as TRP again and the U storylines and Babies Farting stuff also driving them away we want to get that TRP back so that Disney doesn't pull funding and we don't get forced the Disney standard for show pulls shit quality show ending of Doctor Who having a selfie or whatever. What's best for business is true Russell T Davies Who without woke coming back and with that 12+ rating family show. Kids below 12 are always going to watch a 12+ version anyway so they didn't have to resort to Universal rated episodes as kids under 12 will still watch 12 as a full family and the parents wouldn't care we dis as Babies in the 80s watch Doctor Who anyway and we wasn't 12 what's the differences bring back RTD's true vision and the TRP will skyrocket again on stream at least as it's 12am Sky+ & Q and Freeview and Virgin Vs 7pm BBC One so after finding that out I'm a streamer since last episode. On old school Sky+ IPlayer I got it 12am last week by logic as I see it on there when I got up. That part of Disney is a positive it's the other stuff like a risk of a real shit rushed selfie taking ending with the doctor if things do go not Disneys way on TRP/BARB ratings due to the things the majority are upset about if it can end without a pull if it was going too end it would be a decent ending but a Disney low TRP/BARB pull show ending is always crap. The shows life support is us but when we quit it ourselves eventually because we had enough of U storylines in a 12 show and wokeness angles galore and whatever even though we stuck with it regardless during Chibnell era and these episodes it might drive us mad enough some day to quit ourselves and TRP is gone and the show is dead from our life support as well then Adam because you would then be on the not liking it much anymore wagon ourselves we are the last generation of life support other than new fans the mid 80s and mid 90s generations.

Thank you. Some sanity against the bizarre entitled fan privilege and blinkered lack of understanding as to this is what every show has done for some time now. This is the new norm. The UK shouldn’t have any such priority. This is a Disney financed deal, largely and a massive new worldwide push on a huge streaming service and it’s how it’s done. It’s not a “mistake” as some have said. It’s why Tim Davie said they had to let the show ‘go’. Watch at midnight or don’t. As you say, an excuse to get off social media even is not a good thing. Sure I’ve been spoiled by UK tabloids and the internet on shows that aired in a similar fashion, like Walking Dead and Thrones and yeah it’s a bugger, but it is what it is. I want the show to have all the benefits and finances this deal brings and I want it to have the chance to be this big vibrant success and this is how you do that.

I'm a bit apprehensive about it. I totally get why, this is the new status quo for television as a whole now, plus it's to accommodate Disney+'s typical release model and allow for a *Toymaker voice* worldwide premiere, but Who's been one of the few shows these days that had the incentive to watch it live on a Saturday/Sunday evening, and while the option is watch on BBC One is still there of course if one chooses to do so, that communal feeling is not so much gone but is diminished.

This is great news for me as when I was a kid, the episodes that got me the most were the ones that were on wh b it was dark. Now I can watch it again in the dark this should make it better. Also when I was a kid I had to put up with my mother saying how terrible it was and that it shouldn’t be ‘allowed’. She still does this today so this gives me more of an opportunity to see it before she does which means I can come up with better arguments before she starts moaning about it. She still doesn’t get that she doesn’t have to watch everything on tv.

It might as well now, so it doesn’t get left behind later. But a majority of fans (myself included) like to excitedly wake up on a Saturday or Sunday (also Christmas Day or New Years Day) waiting for a new episode to air. We can obviously still do that, but it’ll be difficult to stay off social media so we don’t get spoiled and not to just jump on to iPlayer like everyone else.

As an Australian, I see all this discourse and want to wheel out the "first time?" meme. Chibnall's decision to move Doctor Who to Sunday nights in the UK especially messed with Australian viewing as it could no longer be aired on Sunday nights (Aus time). The ABC (our equivalent of the BBC) had a fairly established long time line up on Monday evenings, including a current affairs program that has run for nearly as long as Doctor Who. So the ABC did all sorts of things to get around this, such as showing Doctor Who on a secondary channel, or with series 12, waiting until Thursday nights to air the episodes! So avoiding spoilers meant watching it on Iview (our equivalent of Iplayer) where at least the ABC did drop episodes straight after they aired in the UK, which it had been doing for quite a few years. However Iview only streams up to 720p, so there was a sacrifice in picture quality viewing it that way. Now we can watch Doctor Who on a Saturday morning - awesome!

My favourite thing is the fans of the time travel show that don't understand how time zones work and think America is getting it before everyone else😂. Also, do those who are demanding we get it first because it's BWRITISH! feel as strongly when we often get big movies a few days earlier than in the states?

As far as spoilers I just unfollow channels like Confused Adipose who state ‘No Spoilers’ but then have spoilers. It’s easier to unfollow channels, and to mindfully search for the favourite channels for any content.

I'll admit i'm not a big fan of this release schedule... though 2 NEW episodes of Doctor Who airing as a double bill, that's never happened before has it?

With tv shows dropping at midnight nowadays this is the new normal, I don't have any problems with watching the episodes at midnight as there will be something on to watch before going to sleep. Certain people need to grow up, there are far more serious things happening in the world right now and complaining the US will see these at 7pm when hello time difference when they drop shows at midnight as well is just being petty. Roll on the 11th May and the adventures of our new doctor and it will still be shown later on for everyone who wants to tune in before Eurovision so what are the moaners upset about?

I'm not a Eurovision fan either, but no-one can deny it's reach and level of success!

who cares when it is on ---we only get 8 eps a year and returns and boring Kate, boring Osgood, boring and now insane Donna, returning things, "great, big Mystery" with the old lady, who knows? Who cares? If someone wants to avoid spoilers they can. They're prats to complain and just want attention. DW needs to can RTD and hire a producer who can just hire good writers and those who can craft a good TV show, a good sci fi show, and maybe change the format into a longer form of storytelling and no fans in control of the show. And stop the Earth based stories all the time.

So... by the time Doctor Who is shown on BBC1, EVERYONE will have already seen it! And that trailer! LOL Could a trailer make Doctor Who look any less like Doctor Who? But, of course, it's now just another of RTD's queer dramas, and the scheduling on the gayest night of the year just proves that. The future doesn't look good for Doctor Who.
