The V-30 was a kick-ass heavy cruiser in the FASA game, and was a challenge for the Constitution-class CA. She also looked the part, and was my favorite ship in the FASA game. Your rendering of her is utterly beautiful - I love the animations of the wings and gun pods deploying and stowing.

Great job on a forgotten ship! I remember reading a FASA storyline about an ambush by this vessel type on 2 L”9 Klingon frigates. We always gamed it so the Romulans would escape! Love the huge Battle Cruisers FASA designed as well.

Loved this design. It was beautiful and potent. Had the miniature and painstakingly painted it, complete with feathers on the underbelly.

One of the best ships from when FASA had the ST liscense. There is a playable version of the Ship Combat simulator it even has an AI and the ability to upload ship images and enter ships from the Tech manuals.

I've been in love with this ship design since the FASA game I played in the 80's. OBVIOUSLY! Just look at my avatar. Learned how to mod games JUST because I wanted to fly this ship. SO wish STO would get it together and buy the rights back from (I think it's a German company) whoever technically owns it. That is if they haven't reverted back already.

According to FASA only one plasma weapon so most likely centered on ship. Big guns are most likely disruptors.

I always figured those underslung disruptors matching the Romulan/Klingon Bird of Prey with the torpedos being housed somewhere in the compact body.

I seem to always have voice issues, esp when voice acting. I'll have to devise ways of doing it better, hard to regulate with sound I put in the vid but should be able to. On the cost - this would be the Empire's more expensive ships. I would compare it to a Russian Mig-29 when it came out, although the Romulans may not have had the computer or sensor tech of Starfleet, they've known how to build ships longer than even the Vulcans..

1 - crew compliment is between 330 and 350 2 - the shuttle bay is small and only holds 2 or 3 3 - shuttle type is unknown, almost certain two standard cargo or passenger shuttles, the Romulans are known in beta canon to use fighters in this era but this does not strike me as a carrier in any way. You need standard shuttles in case there is some reason transporters are inoperable. 4 - Unlike the constitution class she is built mostly for combat. The weapons are all very comparable, if using plasma the Defender is far better at close range than a Connie. Connie shields are better, but the V-30 has more structural integrity. Most of a V-30's mass is dedicated to engine and power management, but a Connie has more room for crew amenities, research labs, shuttles, and cargo capacity. In combat the V-30 just has the edge. For overall versatility of roles and missions, the Connie has the edge, unless it is a covops mission of course.

I loved this game, this ship was one of my favorite opponents! Even when my friends upgraded it to make it more powerful, I loved fighting it. It's speed and RPL3 were deadly. I'd often only be able to win if I was able to use a pair of Northamptons or a trio of destroyers. Anything with more than 3-5 torpedo launchers, as you could only dodge one per phase.

There is a lot in my head regarding that, I feel a need to expand some head canon and make some stories but have to devise a way to make it worth my time :D I'll definitely be using this ship to talk about the nature of plasma torpedoes, disruptors, maybe shields.

Beautiful ship ... I can only imagine what the TMP Romulan Navy might have been like. I love how they designed this and the other FASA Romulans as if the Star Trek 3 Bird of Prey was a Romulan ship, and these are evolutions of that.

I remember this ship like the back of my hand. It was one of the few ships that could take on the Enterprise by itself. Tons of power. 68 energy if I remember. The only thing holding it back was the fact plasma torpedo sucked in FASA system. The Enterprises Photon torpedoes we're so much better. The Vastam in Star Trek online is its spiritual successor in my opinion.

I'd like to see the original FASA Winged Defender design which did not have the hinged wings. It was a single wing type design which spanned from one end of the warp nacelles to the other. It was painted across the top in typical Romulan war bird design.

i loved FASA i still have all my booklets in a box in the basement, do you remember in the early FASA books the Winged Defender was a different design. i always loved that version but it was replaced by this look in the Romulant fleet manual.

Is there any canon or any FASA reference describing when singularity warp drives "came into use"? My speculation is that Romulans _always_ used singularity propulsion instead of developing "normal" warp drive. Enterprise sensors detected impulse power but no warp power onboard the Romulan Bird of Prey even though it obviously had to have some form of FTL propulsion. ... If true then Romulans wouldn't really need dilithium until they started using D-7's ... although they might have still controlled dilithium sources to deny access to their enemies ... and perhaps some stockpile of dilithium was traded (one way or the other) as part of their military technology exchanges with the Klingons.

I always took that to mean that the Romulan BoP's warp drive was fusion powered. It would be slow and very inefficient compared to a M/AM warp core, explaining why the BoP started running low on fuel. A fusion reactor may be able to supply power to generate a warp field, but not very well for very long.

I'd be interested to see more in the tech specs for your content like actual 3d models used, or which game mods the content/model comes from or games they are shown on video. How do you composite the videos etc. as I like the design work/approach compared to say Trekyards who have good content but it's not as engaging.
