40 years ago my father-in-law trapped fox and coyote, sometimes he would catch Fisher that we would have to release, I would throw heavy blanket on Fisher and hold him down while father-in-law took the trap off, what a experience

Quite the experience indeed!

New York State once swapped some Fisher from the Adirondacks with Wisconsin for some Quail. Lumbermen like Fisher. They are the only mammal that preys on Porcupines. I spent a lot of time in the Adirondacks and saw just about everything except a Fisher.

Yes! Reintroduction throughout their range has brought back this predator and helped control various prey populations. Adirondacks are great!

If I put out a porcupine, the fisher(s) in my area will strip it clean, and within a couple of nights leave it looking like a fancy quill hat. Northern Ontario.

@@foxtrotbravo1744 is this roadkill you mean? do you put a camera on that?
@foxtrotbravo1744Ай бұрын
@@NHnature Yes, I put a game cam on them, the fishers move like ghosts in the night. I live in a rocky forested area with lots of sugar maples which attracts porcupines and I remove any that get too close to the house because of my dog. If you've seen what they'll do to a dog you would understand why. We also have lots of coyotes and foxes in the area.
