Thank you so much for watching Supernatural - Season 4 Episode 19 with me!
I cannot believe how conflicted I felt during this one, I truly kept going in between believing it's their brother and believe it's not. I guess both emotions were right! I'm so sad they found out the way they did, and that they never got to meet him before. It was also so interesting seeing how differently they handled it and their reactions.

The guy who plays Adam also played Luke Castellan in the Percy Jackson movies. IDK if that's why he was familiar to you, but that was where I new him from

Fun facts: The title of this episode comes from a Happy Days episode. The name of this episode is titled differently internationally in Brazil it’s called ‘The Brother’ in Germany it’s called ‘Grave Robber’ in Poland it’s called ‘Exaggeration’ and in Hungarian it’s translated as ‘The Lost Boy’ when Sam and Dean enter the diner a poster can be seen on the wall advertising for the “21st Annual Fonzarelli Water Skiing Championship”. It's a reference to an episode in the show Happy Days, where Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli literally jumps over a shark while water skiing.

the guy that plays the half-brother, he is in the percy jackson movies, that was my introduction to him but I really liked him in the host (2013) he's been in a lot of other things too. but I can't remember them. but poor adam.....

Many years ago, I was a crew manager for a Halloween haunted house.. it was HUGE. One of the little vignettes was called "a child's worst nightmare" Another crew, not mine, had a kid lay on a fake bed, in an area decked out like a bedroom.. complete with nightlights.. it was dim but there was a little spot light on his face. As the crowd was ushered around the corner, the two people under the bed reached up and pulled him under.. screaming. It was very effective. Every time I see this episode.. I get that memory. There are Supernatural reference books available, including John's journal.. you are not cleared to read them yet.. there are spoilers. Dean gets the claustrophobic things because Sam won't fit. I think Dean ended up pissed at himself for doubting that he had a half brother and that he didn't save him. That face.. so many emotions. Sam .. different tasting blood.. of course it tastes different. ewwww

Both brothers reactions to Adam shows how much they’ve changed. Sam isn’t mad at John about Adam and even claims he was right to train them as hunters which is a big change from how the show started. But Dean is mad at John and it’s understandable, John didn’t let Dean be a kid even Sam had done freedom Dean didn’t so to find out he let this other son have a normal life and even did normal things with him like going to a baseball game, yeah that would make anybody jealous

I agree, they have changed and have very different reaction to Adam. It’s so interesting that Sam says he thinks their dad was right when he used to believe the opposite. I totally get them both potentially being jealous, I think anyone would feel that in this situation!

At this point of the show Sam has accepted that their family is cursed. And he is pretty much like John now his love of life murdered and his heart only wants revenge

It’s possible Dean has a TWINGE of jealousy, but it is WAY more that he’s feeling protective of Adam.

We could also argue that Sam was the jealous one. He was jealous that Adam was planned for a normal life when that chance was stolen from Sam and Dean. He wanted him to leave that normal life too and join the family business. But, it's more likely that Sam has been the younger brother who was being taught stuff his whole life. I think he wanted to be the big brother and teach someone else for a change.

I think they both cared about Adam and wanted what is best for him, I don’t doubt that and I am not saying that’s not their focus. But I think they both might be a little jealous, for different reasons and that’s understandable too. Their dad doing normal dad things with him, him having a normal life, I would understand feeling jealous of that.

@@drkushajagadeesh6347Sam knew the truth which we found out he was right because Adam was already killed. Winchester’s don’t get normal lives they don’t get to be normal. Sam was talking like that to Adam because he already knew what happened when you try to escape there is no escape so you might as well learn how to protect yourself

The ghouls were a pair of siblings whose father was killed by John. They wanted revenge because they felt their father was unjustly killed simply for feasting on dead bodies but he never actually killed any living person so essentially a creature was killed for following the nature of its diet. I understand why they would want payback as their father didn't deserve to die since he didn't murder anyone. The thing is John died already so them going after John's loved ones after the fact is kind of pointless, yes I know they had already killed them before they knew he was dead but still.

Yeah still horrible that they went after Johans family as John isn’t there anymore, and I get that they were trying to survive as well but it must be hard for the people who had lost people to have them stolen and eaten from their graves too.

20:10, it depends. The "recipe" I've learned for holy water involved salt, so if that's also how they do it in Supernatural, it will definitely taste different anyway. But then again, we've seen the Winchester make holy water with just plain water, unless that is something of a "low grade" holy water compared to the salted one. And admittedly, I don't know if using salt to make holy water is the norm. Nice video, by the way!

Oooh that makes sense! If there’s salt in there I would have for sure reacted on the taste 🙈 I have seen them put crosses in the water to make it holy, so maybe some of it doesn’t contain salt🤔 and thank you, I appreciate that!!🥰

I love this episode, I enjoy this season so much. Great reaction. You're grasp on the boys is great as far as why they each felt a certain way about Adam. I also enjoy watching you try to figure out what the monster or creature is! Really enjoying watching your reactions. Sam wanted to protect Adam because he didn't want him to suffer the losses he suffered when his college life and Jessica were taken from him. It's amazing how much like John he was like Dean says at the end of the episode and it makes sense why he & John butted heads so many times. Sam is also like Dean was in ways in this episode in the way he trains Adam like Dean helped with Sam when John wasn't around during his hunting jobs. And yeah you better believe Sam changed a lot. He was the one who changed the most with the innocence he once had that was beaten out of him by the life they lead and the rage that burned inside him as a result of how screwed up he personally was thanks to Azazel and everything he was put through since he was 6 months old. Even Dean changed when you consider the guilt he felt after Meg died in Devil's Trap and how the poor vessel of the Meg demon's brother died after he shot him with the Colt to save Sam and how that guilt faded away where he was able to kill demons and their host vessels without batting an eye, but Sam changed way more because he was able to do the same and came from a much more innocent start in the Pilot episode. You can also compare that scene where they're burning Adam's body on the pyre with the scene where Sam & John are talking while Dean is out getting dead man's blood in the episode Dead Man's Blood. You can really see how alike they were even back in season 1 and how this episode is a callback to that. Same with what Azazel said about Sam being John's favorite when he was possessing John in Devil's Trap. I don't think John had favorites and demons of course lie, but I do think his statement was based on how similar Sam & John are. By the way I love the music that played when Dean was sneaking around in the cemetery crypt. Absolutely perfect for that entire scene.

35:40 - No, being a good shot with a gun can be quite accidental. I would know. A friend took me shooting a looong time ago. That target never had a chance... what with it being inanimate and all that. (You didn't think I'd shoot at something that's alive, did you?) Although I'm not a fan of meta in shows as it takes me out of the believability of the characters and world I'm watching. However, I really loved the 'Monster At The End of The Book' episode. :)

The third brother plot irked me a little back then. I was like how could you John. Then to make it worst, turns out Adam is dead already and taken over by ghouls..

Yeah, it’s pretty hard seeing them realise they have a brother they didn’t know about, slowly getting to know him only for them to find out they lost him already 😭

Of course Sam has changed since season 1, you think someone could endure what he has and not come out the other side a little more pessimistic? **Also, leaving him in rhe dark would make him a target. Sam is thinking rationale which is usually Deans thing. Its on purpose i think.

Oh of course they change, that’s not what I meant. It felt more like he started acting like Dean did in the beginning of the show, and that he kinda stepped away from what I predicted as the core of who Sam is! I think I’m changing to some degree makes sense for sure. I think it might be on purpose too, that they are Sam like that!

To answer the age gap question with the brothers: Dean is 11 years older than Adam. Sam is 7 years older than Adam. Yes, their half brother is currently 18 years old during this season. It’s sad that Adam died so soon. I would have loved seeing Sam and Dean have a relationship with him.

Sam was right about Adam getting killed because of things wanting Revenge on John or Sam & Dean. But I just wished they met real Adam

If I could I would! But I have a full time job, stream three times a week, have a gaming channel and also have to do all other things any other human needs like cook, eat, get groceries, sleep and meet up with loved ones. I do hope to upload more often in the future though!🥰
