I just discovered these about a month ago and can't get enough! I will be disappointed if Aegon is a Blackfyre. I was so glad to know the baby wasn't slain. I mean, it's still sad, because a baby was slain. I just feel like what a great come uppance to the Lannisters if Varys switched the babes. Which, by the way, when would that have taken place? Surely Elia would have noticed her baby was switched or was she aware?

Thanks guys been talking a break from asoiaf. But ( just a thought ) the contract in blood and breaking there word .they may do that yes the original foundation contract or charter was that the company would eventually return to westeros , and this plus a fresh higher paid contract would take precedence over myr . And still allow them there honor . ( a paper shield) but its not like they turned cloaks . they ne er took money. A technicality. But there were a company of exiles seeking home more than contracts.

Definitely one of the plotlines I look forward to most. Thank you for adding new thoughts even though i’m already familiar with your earlier episodes on the topic! Just some thoughts, I find it ironic that Dany would probably welcome any notion of family and home as a person but for the visions of the cloth dragon and Quaithe’s warnings to trust no one, which are feeding her growing mistrust and taking her down a dangerous path. Also regarding Arianne and her ambitions, she is clearly guilty of still having antagonistic thoughts about her brother and even finding ridiculous the though of having to call him king if he win Daenerys. I therefore think that she could just as well actively pursue Aegon in order to make herself queen and again higher up in the ladder, and not necessarily following Dorne’s best interests and the caution Doran tries to instill in her. And no doubt she would internally justify it as the correct decision, for example that she is a stronger character and can do more for Dorne in this position that Quentyn who is more pliable and would be overshadowed by his supposed wife. Far from certain but I think the set up is there and would be in character for Arianne.

Re Arianne & Aegon's potential marriage - do you think news could reach them of Dany's marriage to Hizdahr beforehand, removing her as a potential bride, or do you think George will use it more as a means of showing Aegon's growing independence from JonCon?

Hi you guys. Missed you. I feel like this is the red headed step child of the 7 kingdoms. Almost nothing happens here, until book 5 really. Even then it's tied to the Marcella/ Dorn plot. If I had to guess, I think the Golden Company took out the "token force" Mace Tyrell left behind in open battle, and then claimed to have declared for Stannis, fooling the castle garrison into opening the main gates. I would bet against the Davos method being used again.

I think we should keep in mind that Targraien and Blackfyre split is relatively recent comparing to 300 years of the Targarien history in Westeros. So Jaehaerys I is undoubtedly one of direct ancestors of Young Griff whether he is a Targarien prince or a Blackfyre pretender. And Visenya, despite not having descendants by herself, is the sister of Aegon I who absolutely is the ancestor of both the Targariens and the Blackfyres. So "fake" in Aegon is only up to a point; he is a remote issue of the last dragon riders no matter which branch he belongs to.

You guys are awesome! Heres something I've been thinking; What if (f)aegon is actually a Targ and not a blackfyre, just not the Targ he says. King Jaehaerys had a daughter who went to the free cities, along with many other female Targs, we don't know what happened to her or her line..What if (f)aegon actually has a legit claim based on that?

I think in terms of Blackfyre's its clear the male line died because Varys was castrated in a ritual after being held captive by someone who possibly was Rhllor worshipper. My theory is that Varys is in fact the son of Daemon IV Blackfyre or the cousin of Maelys and was likely spirited away by Daemon's supporters this included his sister. It's possible he was the last male heir who was born has after that they likely where having more daughters. Also you guys have to agree the shaved head is odd? Aegon V shaved his head to hide his Targaryen features. Its possible Varys did the same, I feel with the Dunk and Egg tales George is giving us a foreshadowing. Varys has no birthdate so its not crazy to think he is Maelys second cousin.
