The first notebook trick: He flicks the notebook downwards while he shows the judges. And later, Amanda and David flick the book in upward motion. When notebook is flicked downwards, there are variety of items but on flicking in upward motion, all the pages will have only one item in all pages. Simon knew this secret,but he kept silent.

The second one, that's an easy trick. He gets the card signed from the Judge. Takes it in his hands, such that only the back is visible to the audience. Folds it( 9:49 ). And swaps it ( 9:51 ) with another one. Keeps the signed one on his left hand. Tears up the decoy. Then in 10:03 swaps the cards and keeps the torn card on his right hand. Then he distracts the audience by talking and 10:12 he slips the torn part inside his jacket and takes out the lighter. You can see the lighter doesn't even burns the card, its just for drawing out the lighter look logical.

Marko C The only problem is that the front and backside of the note pads look different and you can see the front side of the notepad while Amanda's holding it. While he flips through the pages you can see the back of the paper quite clearly. It's hard to tell if he did some slight of hand trickery because of the camera angle and cuts too.

good thinking but not quite... every second page has David Beckham written on it and all pages with david Beckham on them are shorter. Therefore it depends from which side you flip through. If you hold your thumb on the cards the way the magician did it, which means sliding your thumb from top to bottom there are always two pages going up, a longer and a shorter one, but you only see the longer pages because the shorter ones flip up without being stopped by the thumb. If you slide your thumb from bottom to top which is the same as just randomly opening it somwhere the way David and Amanda did, you will only see the shorter pages. It is quite complicated to describe without showing any pictures but I hope you understand

I watched the video again and I have to say that I agree with you now :) If he would have performed in front of Penn and Teller he would never have been able to fool them nor would they have been particularly impressed, because there is no real talent needed for the tricks he does. But then again.. a magicians job is not to fool other magicians. And he DID fool the audience and the judges. And he entertained them, and in the end that's what this show is about..
