I’m strongly of the opinion that no goalie should play more than 58-60 games a regular season. Helle is are star, we need him at his best. He needs rest.

@ exactly, I’d rather have a 50-42 record and in the mix of the top 3 in the conference with Helly well rested, then be 70-12 top of the conference but Helly is done for when it comes to playoffs.

Really enjoying how theyre letting both powerplay units get time and not trying to force them to play the same system. Hard for teams to adjust to the change in philosophy whenever the units switch.

As a jets fan and having lived in Winnipeg for nine years I often wonder why they are not selling out each game or close to it. I guess Bomber fans will address that after their season ends hopefully with another Grey Cup!

Me last year watching the Jets pp "FUCKING MMOOVVEE" Me this year watching the Jets pp "B E A utiful" They dont just gain the zone set up and pass around the perimeter this year, everybody is moving. That means the Defense has to move, that opens up lanes to shoot or pass, means the goalie cant cheat. I love it. It wont stay at 40% but if it stays around 30% we are cooking

Disagree with the take on pionk, his only issue this year is his lack of size but he plays more physical than Stanley on most nights

Pionk can be a really solid puck moving d-man, and is definitely making better decisions than he did last season. I think he's also a quietly physical d-man. Finished 22nd in hits(221) in the league last season. The only Jet with more was Dillon (242) I had a lot to say, and most of it not nice about Pionk last season. If he keeps making decisions like he is and playing like he is? Count me as Pionk fan

Bones constantly mixing up the denfence lines in the lat half of the season was a terrible choice. But lets be honest, Brad Lauer as an assistant coach was a huge problem.

I will say that the Jets are playing Rick’s hockey system, but Ariel as you put it. There are a lot more aggressive. There are a lot more hot to handle. Next two games will be probably the biggest test early on this season against Colorado and Dallas. I’m expecting both games to be pretty physical and very defensive type of game.

I wouldn’t say that Colorado has won the cup. I mean, they still have some of those players on that team so I wouldn’t be surprised if those elite players come out and try to lay the body on Winnipeg. Winnipeg has to do the same thing but the true test will be on the defensive side because Colorado is very very fast so we’ll see if the Jets may be have structured things in a way to stop that quickness of Colorado

Dude, how is the whole sports world sleeping on Hellebuyck? IMO, he’s the main reason why the Jets are doing this well. Top goaltender in NHL and probably top player in NHL. Dude’s save percentage is higher than Hasek and Roy’s. Hellebuyck is on the path to being the greatest goalie of all time and no one’s talking about this guy, insane!

I agree with you pal, imo though the defence needs to be targeted instead of the 2nd line C spot. I think it’s time for Chevy to really go big game hunting and get a bonafide 2/3 Defencemen like Rasmus Anderson. Barlow and this years 1st is my offer to start. Then the d-core is 44-2, 54-Rasmus, 4-6/14 and then we are a legit contender. The 2C spot should also remain open for lambo, let Appleton or Iaffalo go in the summer then Chibi and Lambo have spots

Ironically, for a team called the Jets, they’re not very fast. According to NHL Edge, the Jets are below the 50th percentile in top skating speed and speed bursts, which is counterintuitive in a league that’s becoming faster and faster. They are, however, burying a huge percentage of their shots. No matter what, the Jets are getting it done. The big test facing the Avalanche, Stars, Rangers, Lightning and the Panthers twice over the next two weeks is coming up.

Pionk will be in the top 4. If we could get a top 4 defenceman, it would mean moving Samberg into the bottom pairing (most likely). True, second line centre would be important...probably need it to have a chance at winning the Cup.

Regarding Stanley, he did perform well in our sweep of the Oilers during the covid playoffs, against a pretty fast team. Maybe he can still make the cut, if he can keep playing like this.

The rest of the NHL is simply chasing the Winnipeg Jets at this point of the season. They have a lone loss in regulation through their first 12 games, and they have put up a miraculous +28 goal differential. Is this sustainable? Absolutely not. Is this an incredible streak that the Jets are on, regardless? Absolutely.
