Chevy is looking like the Danny Ainge of the NHL if this trade ends up being like the trade we did with the Kings. For those of you that don't follow the NBA, Danny Ainge is an executive for the Utah Jazz (most notably known for his time as a GM for the Boston Celtics) finessing teams he does deals with.

Although I agree with a lot of your points, I do think that your labelling yager as a 3rd line center which I gotta disagree with. He has all the tools to become a top 6 center, speed, hands, shooting, compete. Sure he has to make that jump but potential wise it’s definitely top 6. His floor absolutely is a middle 6 however which I can agree on. But with his smaller frame, he’s not adequate for a bottom 6 or 3rd line role, even if he fills out his frame. The tools just have top 6 written, it’s the question of can he make the jump which is the question for all prospects. McGroarty has top 6 potential as well, but with his size and lack of speed I can honestly see him fitting as an amazing 3rd line scoring winger, but both are amazing prospects with top 6 potential.

The 3rd line C thing was what I was suggesting might be his most likely outcome, not necessarily his ceiling. If he turns into a 2nd liner, I wouldn't be surprised at all, just measuring some expectations there.

@@LockedOnJetsNHL Pens fan (who is sad to see Yager go) here, consensus over here was pretty much that Yager is gonna be a top 6 winger in the NHL. Can’t see him fitting in on a 3rd line tbh (not permanently at least)
@reign22044 ай бұрын
@@LockedOnJetsNHL yeah 100%, I mean projection wise and playing on the safe side I understand that suggesting third line C makes most sense, but I feel he will be a top 6 talent whereas guys like Lucius unfortunately can’t stay healthy and with the missed time on development would make alot more sense playing in the middle 6, same with the other prospects who aren’t as known, Julien, Zhilkin, etc. just feel like guys like Barlow, Chibrikov, Lambert, Yager, all have the tools to be projected for top 6 roles although sure it’s not guaranteed. But with prospects you gotta project a little bit especially with how talented some of these guys really are. But we’ll see. Big year for Yager regardless of playing in junior, since he will most likely get another crack at the WJC, and Barlow could be on his line.

Part of me would have loved to seen Cody glass in the trade. Somehow that definitely would have fortified the second position a little bit

A great move by Chevy. The long term 2C solution has been found.

Praying for this to pan out! A 1-2-3 of Lambert-Yager-Scheifele in some order looks pretty nice for the foreseeable future.

Pens fans and the pens organization were high as kites on Yager, no intention of trading him. It’s just that this could be Crosby, Malkin, and Letangs last healthy season together so Dubas sort of owed it to them to get a good young player right now

I love this trade. We get rid of an American born entitled University star, ensuring our locker room has no players with demands that have not been earned at the pro level. We gain a true future key piece to our future. Pittsburgh gets a locker room tumor.

I think it's way too early to say who won or lost. Excited to get back a player who ostensibly wants to play for our team. I'm looking forward to see how he progresses over the next two seasons.
@LockedOnJetsNHL4 ай бұрын
Think it's less about who won than it is making a win out of a bad situation anyways, which the Jets definitely did. Both parties got something they wanted out of it.

Yager has to go back to whl, moosejaw, even though he is ahl ready, although he needs to put on weight
@grantp40224 ай бұрын
I agree, he has to fill out, and put on some man weight. Too scrawny right now, but great scoring hands. Give him 2 years, and we'll see ??
@LockedOnJetsNHL4 ай бұрын
I think it makes sense to send him back for at least 1 year. At the end of it, though, maybe see if he's Moose-ready.

You have to be 20 yr old to play ahl, its junior or nhl and you can play junior at 20 as long as your 21st birthday is after Jan 1 (you are considered an over ager maximum 3 per team) at least that used to be the rules

Jets should have taken the MTL’s offer at draft for 21st and Barron. It’s basically like Hage + Barron for Rutger. Now Hage is taking Rutger’s spot at Michigan top line. Barron can be the useful right hand d Jets needed. Yager is just a downgrade.

@reign22044 ай бұрын
@@darrenc8455 how is Yager a downgrade? He plays center, fits the mold the jets need, need fast skating, good shooters, with hands. He’s also Canadian and seems to love the prairies where he was born in Saskatchewan. McGroarty is sure a great player and leader but his skating is atrocious adding that with Barlow would’ve not been the best. Yager has another year to develop before he can make the push and he’s extremely talented, projected top 10 in 2023 which was a much better draft than 2022. That’s why it’s completely false

lol yeah “downgraded” to a more skilled player that can play Center 😂. Faster, better shot, harder worker, Canadian. The pens can keep a “leader and physical animal” for themselves who is an absolute pain.
