The witness speaks like someone who has complete and total comfort in both its infallible plan and absolute power. It speaks to us like it likes us, because i think it does. An entity foundational to the universe only really does what it wants

Agreed. Humanity is of no consequence to the winnower… the same way we would speak to an ant, it speaks to us. In actuality, the winnower perceives us as less than the aforementioned ants. It’s “jovial” discourse with us, is that of a toy or plaything. It believes it can bend us, break us, or have us do its bidding. Our perceived significance amuses those who perceive us as insignificant.

I think when the winnower said, "Oh, no, not my sedimentary necrolite, fossilized in time." I thinks he's referring to the veil. And maybe that the veil had been split in 2 and maybe the veil was an actual pearl.

In a way we proved the winnowers logic correct, sword logic in its more primal baseline form, not the hive kind. It mentions that only the fittest survive, we killed its "knife" therefore proving ourselves more fit than the witness, and there was nothing else we could have done, someone somewhere always makes its choice.

i think Its like this: The winnower is a fan of extinction; maybe. he convinces races to become one unified entity, turns that entity against the traveler or whoever opposes them, then the singular entity dies, effectively killing off an entire race or people!

The Winnower talks about itself like a school of thought. Which is pretty sweet. In my perspective he’s basically provoking the defiance of what we know, and by doing so bringing the Winnower to the hearts and minds of Sol.

To kinda clear up some confusion with the words a lot of objects in english are translated 1 to 1 from greek such as in this case necrolite and necronite , Necro/Νέκρο = an essence of death (not a word per say but a part word used in greek to give meaning to words) , now Nite/Νιτής is like Necro a part word used to to complete the meaning of words and Nite/Νιτής reffers to a substance or object with a rock/crystal form , Lite/Λίτης should be familiar to english speakers because its the same part of the word CataLYST just written diffrently to accomodate the languague , Catalyst = Καταλίτης , Lite/Λίτης reffers to substance or object with a liquid/liquid-like celular form , lore wise do with that what you will but as an aside a lot of Bosses (mainly Vex) and other stuff in Destiny bare greek words as names with deep meaning for example the VoG final boss Atheon/Αθεων means an inanimate object that is Atheist/doesnt believe in gods or the idea of gods.

Cross we know quite a bit about The Nine and their motives. I am a bit rusty on the lore but from what I can remember they're consciousnesses that came into existence because of some gravitational shenanigans between our solar system's celestial bodies. They're made up of dark matter and each one are connected to their own celestial body, including Earth. Their continued existence is reliant upon several factors, one being the life that exists on their respective celestial body. That's the key reason to why The Nine are helping us somewhat. Because if life ceases on their "body" then so does their being from existance. The Nine's motive is just existance, which is why they're also looking into ways to not be reliant on planetary life to enable their existance, because life is fleeting.

During the last mission we see the star horse presented in the middle of the room along with a lot of engrams with the nines symbols on them which makes me think maybe we arent decrypting ancient engrams from the golden era but are instead receiving weapons from the nine. They could also be a primordial people such as the leviathans, vex, and worm gods.

This Necrolite/Necronite stuff reminds me of the petricor stuff from Revision Zero, or the wet earth smell mentioned in the Black Armory lore from the bunker being attacked by the Darkness and its forces during the collapse. The Winnower gives me a sort of geology or ground element vibe? Sand to make a pearl, weird and specific words for ground and elements, mentions of calcification or fossilization.

That's a amazing video Aztecross! And..... You know, I've always been a fan of tokusatsu and this video made me remember and think about one of them: Kamen Rider Gaim, which started out as an apparently more silly tokusatsu series, but in the middle of the series the plot started to show high philosophical and Biblical references, like GARDEN of Eden, the fruit of knowledge and the LAW OF NATURE or the law of the strongest, that governs the universe and as there is no escape from this "system", the universe is shaped by this rule that if you want to protect, survive, influence or have power, you MUST sacrifice, kill, destroy or TAKE something when the opportunity comes to you and the only thing you can do about it would be to achieve divinity and help balance the scales for living beings. because this law will ALWAYS exist.

I'm at 4:57 currently. The Winnower's choice is survival of the fittest. Only the strongest survive. The Gardener wants all possibilities explored. In Dual Destiny you were given a choice. Violence or peace. If you chose violence then you chose to support the Winnower. If you chose peace, you chose to serve the Gardener. Though you had to serve the Winnower when fighting through all of the enemies up to that point.

I wonder if necrolite is a reference to the Veil. Necro- comes from Greek meaning 'corpse', while the -lite suffix could mean 'diminished or lacking in substance'. Maybe it's saying the Veil is just a fossil, no longer representative of (or containing?) the Winnower entity.

yesterday when I was on the throne world. i could see prismatic look strands or threads. floating above bushes and trees. then I started to notice huge reddish pink flowers growing also lotus type flowers in the water. I think prismatic is going to become something like a nature engery. I seriously felt like my Guardian was poison ivy !

A little late here, but to anyone who reads Marvel comics, specifically on Galactus. I believe the Winnower is essentially doing what he does when he visits different planets and civilizations. Where the entity automatically takes form of that civilization and also adapts their language. Thats what I’m getting to why he talks like he’s a guardian, like they are one of us.

The only reason it interferes in the game, is bc the gardener made the traveler to bend the rules. Therefore the winnower had to do the same bc theyre two parts of the same coin. Just thinking out loud. Traveller is the gardener is a ball of light. The Veil is a light and dark sided double egg cup. The Winnower could be the dark ball for the other side. Balance. Yin yang. Maybe when they had their little fallout they split and the egg cup was left and ended up on Neomuna somehow. Thats why we still know nothing about it. Its part to play hasnt came around yet. It could be the essential part of the long game between the gardener and the winnower. You know Bungie love the long game. They can plant a seed and patiently let it grow without anyone paying it any attention for years

On the note that the Winnower talks like a human, Bungie always has little subtle nods to various mythos and religions, so it would make sense they sound human, "made in my image" comes to mind. It also reminds me of how in Halo, Gravemind calls the player(Master Chief) "Child of my enemy, why have you come?". The Traveler made the Ghosts, what if the Winnower made the first life, the Traveler made Ghosts to give life a fighting chance?

I think The Witness thought he was in control and he was the knife. And this passage is basically telling us that we are the new knife, more of a killing machine than the Vex. That’s why it says to keep taking and break rules. As we were given a type of immortality, we also have been at war and wiping out civilizations. We have turned into reapers and the Winnower couldn’t be more ecstatic. Also it’s giving “Although you tried to cheat in our game, you still lost bc your chess piece ended up being my Queen. Checkmate.”😮😮

Where the witness was arguably evil incarnate, the Winnower is more akin to a force of nature, a necessity in the balancing of the cosmos, of existence. My personal opinion was that the Witness was upset that it, and all of us other beings were essentially 'pawns' on a quantum chessboard game being played by two other god-like beings, and it was trying to gather as much power is it could (us allied with it as well) in order to take on the Winnower itself, perhaps because it sensed it coming.

BYF is fantastic, and he gets lore like no one else. But he's committed to the Winnower as not good or evil and I think he's been duped. While the Winnower helped introduce the rules of the universe, that doesn't make his perspective of sword logic and murder any less evil. To take what you require from someone else is stealing. If you kill them to get it, that's murder. Let's not fool ourselves with this "not good or evil" misnomer.

A “necrolite” is mostly a fantasy thing, like in books or games. It’s an undead or ghostly being with magic powers or an evil vibe. You won’t see the term in old myths or folklore, it’s more of a modern creation for fantasy settings. Like WoW or DnD

Plot twist the traveler is the winnower, that's why the witness wanted to take the pale heart, the witness became the grit inside the pearl that is the traveler which is actually the winnower and this while time we've been playing it's game killing for survival killing entire races ,gods, other guardians, the witness itself the list goes on. We've been knives for the winnowed but yea the witness was the first but it was rogue sense why we were so set on destroying it. All part of the plan, the gardener is the universe and the winnower is the traveler moving throughout space winnowing races finding select "guardians" as it sifts through different civilizations

The winnower doesn't want total death and destruction, he wants the strong to prevail and the weak to fade away. War is told by the victors and the dead are buried. More or less what the sword logic is, but the hive just wanted to go on a big collective kill streak

What if the Nine follow under the winnower, and their purpose is to ensure the winnower’s knifes are always sharpened. They so far exist in providing power exotic weapons in exchange for currency, and their involvement with the prophecy dungeon could be argued a push into sharpening us towards the witness and their ultimate downfall
