I know people are talking about casting Mouzone better, but I don't think they could have. The Wire is a literary masterpiece, and Mouzone is actually perfectly cast and acted. He comes off as fake. Fake education. Fake mannerism. He greets the officer here kindly. That's the point. What you see is fake. What he is in reality is no different from Omar or Chris in this show. He's a cold-blooded street-hustling killer. But the veneer is a skin, like a mask. The officer in this scene doesn't check him for a gun, but he's almost certainly carrying one. He looks like a lawyer or a social worker, but he isn't. Even Cheese in the upcoming scene where he scares his crew off doesn't take him seriously. He doesn't see, and it might be possible that even Mouzone doesn't see, that Mouzone is a monster. He is, and he acts, exactly like he should. He's a thin veneer of education, manner, and eloquence over a cold-blooded hitman. And he sounds like it.

The real NOI have been known to save the life of rappers and were hired to protect Johnnie Cochran during the OJ case because of death threats. Even Cheese says "You in the Nation?" and makes a joke about bean pies (NOI are known to be on corners selling their newspaper and bean pies). For those criticizing Brother Muzone's casting, i give 2 real life examples to curb your underestimations. 1. Pablo Escobar's first head of hitmen (literally leading an army of hitters) was a man nicknamed "Pinina". Pinina was a very short, skinny, none threatening man who looked unopposing and as none threatning as possible. In reality, the man had +100 murders on his name, to the point Escobar deemed him efficient enough to train his adult and child killers (which rule many Medellin areas today). 2. One of La Eme's (Mexican Mafia) founding members a most ruthless and legendary man, was called "Cheyenne". Cheyenne was an incredibly short, thin and none threatning man. That being said, when a still up and coming Cheyenne first stepped into San Quentin (max prison in L.A.), he was greeted by a supposed big, tall and burly black man who proceeded to plant a kiss on Cheyenne's face and call him "his bitch". Cheyenne walked off. An hour later, Cheyenne walked back out on the yard and proceeded to stab said inmate to death with a shank he had somehow procured or fashioned inside, intent on showing he was nobodies bitch. The man went on to become one of the most influential members to ever enter a prison. In short, stop believing a powerful, professional and effective killer has to be some Jason Bourne, Mike Tyson, Jack Reacher, Rambo, John Wick looking Motherfucker. A killer just needs to be good at his name's implication, killing. And it doesnt take the biggest muscles or the scariest face to kill.

Right on point, a killer has to be focused on killing, nothing else, nothing more. On the outside, you just got to be able to use a gun (no muscles or size needed it for that), on the inside, odds are that if you're going to kill someone, you'll go with a knife and from behind. And to be perfectly honest, killing is easier than to subdue somebody (Neck and eyes).
@mkn.5674 жыл бұрын
being a killer is mindset. It's basically being a sociopath - no feelings, no remorse, no second thoughts. If you're told to kill a dude, you don't need an explanation, time to prepare, you just walk over and stab/shoot him in the neck. Sometimes big dudes have that. Often they don't. They don't need to because they're big. Through out their lives their size has been enough to get them respect. Big dudes are usually just muscle. Yeah, some big dudes put in work and get their hands dirty. But little dudes, have to earn it. Talk to guys who've done time. Often it's the small dudes who are the craziest, not because of what you see on the outside but what you see in the mofos eyes.

Brother Mouzone was a cobra ready to strike whoever made too many moves that didn't agree with him. Fans will argue that he's overpowered but I feel he leveled the playing field and held death over those who would usually be considered safe and comfortable.

He was never on the Crime Unit's radar. Bubbles mentioned him to Kima and McNulty in season two as a "Bowtie wearing" dude that chased Cheese away from the towers. The Crime Unit had no idea. Luckily for Mouzone, he was from New York and there were no pictures taken of him for Bubbles to identify or put that classic red brim hat on. To sum it all up in one phrase, "no one else had a clue." Except maybe Vincent from the Rim shop.

I love that look and sequence at 0:50 hes got a look like he has serious problems then he goes to prop joe. Prop joe may seem nice and respectable on the surface so it may be easy to approach him with problems but that nigga is the last dude to go to. He only cares about himself and is very slippery. The type to tell you he'll save you for a price, set the details, take your money, then go sell you out to the dude looking for you for a price.
