They need to add a second analog stick and have a button that swaps face buttons to the main analog, that way you can play shooters with a modern twin stick layout.

I've actually thought of this. There would need to be 4 or 5 modes. Dual (standard dual controls, small handful of games actually work default with 2nd analog controllers) L:R (right analog mirrors left analog) DPad (right analog mirrors left dpad 8-way. Would require some simple dead zone settings) ABXY (map the 4 buttons as directional, include zones that act as dual button presses to mimic 8-way, plus same deadzone settings from DPad setting) Twin (mimic twin stick profile to the dreamcast, though I believe this would effectively change both analog to 8-way direction with deadzones) Essentially, these modes would try and cover as many control options that devs made as possible. I know it could be done as they would just be profiles on a customizable controller, but would Retro Fighters or someone else actually make it is another question entirely.

I am personally glad to be rid of 6 face button controllers. Shoulder buttons are far easier to use.

I guess one advantage the wired version has is the compatibility with the microphone, for those few games.

No reason this shouldn't work with the mic, just have to use a controller extension to get it close to you 😅

@@ArchadesGames But there is only one socket not two. You could swap it out for the vmu when required I suppose but that sounds a little bit risky. But there are only a handful of games that need it.

I liked the original version, but honestly, I wish they had listened to the feedback and made it 6 button and given a better D-pad. I'm still hoping retrobit comes out with thiers eventually.

I'll buy the controllers next year when I have enough money. If I did buy the Wireless StrikerDC controllers, I could try a test experiment for playing GameCube, Wii, Switch and PC games with said controller. Unfortunately there won't be PlayStation and Xbox support since I don't have a PS4 or PS5, and the Xbox One and Series X accessibility options do not allow the stick clicks or buttons to be mapped to View or Menu buttons.

I want to get one of these because I've been waiting so patiently for a wireless like they did for the brawler64, but there is one huge (for me) issue and that's that it only comes in white and blue. I want red. I love red and I was going to get a second wired one in red but I didn't want to because I knew a wireless was coming. I hope they come out with more colors soon

I wish they had the VMU in the controller. Not sure why they mention corrupt data, anyone using the extension cables know how easily those things unplug which means it loses connection with the dreamcast. I did preorder but leaning towards canceling the longer i think about the VMU not being there, especially that I preordered the VM2 which is the next generation VMU...

I have a question regarding the dead zones that exist in the analog stick of the first version of StrikerDC. It seems that Sonic doesn't reach the maximum speed allowed by the console's original control. Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem for us?

Most people who have covered the announcement don't have the production sample. I made a strong case to Retro Fighters to show it off 😅 The Retro-Bit version also looks very promising for 6button fans.

For a company named retro "fighters" it's pretty dumb they didn't use the design of the official Dreamcast 6 button pad with the Saturn Style dpad and naturally the 6 button layout. Especially with all that extra space now without the vmu slot

I think it needs an extra stick similar to the xbox layout that emulates abxy buttons which are used for movement in games such as unreal with perhaps an added function to switch the left & right sticks for user preference.

The SDK and some games, like Bleemcast and Unreal, already supports the second stick, the controller just need to be mapped and it gonna work

I personally don't like that the receiver is hanging out. I would prefer the receiver to sit flush with the controller port.

I bought the limited edition in black and this thing burned the maple port of my Naomi 2, no Dreamcast control no longer works on my Naomi and this control no longer works on the dreamcast, it seems that I am not the only one who likes this device It damaged the console and on the page they are deleting all the negative reviews, including mine. If you appreciate your console, I recommend not buying this device.
