What he says at 52:50 is exactly what has happened. Look how quickly KZbin went from being this optimistic hope for democratization of media (2005), to being dominated by the big corporations that were always in control of media anyhow and now dominate here. And the same is true for the internet in general, it's become dominated by advertising and mas marketing, which people hoped in the 1990s the internet would liberate us from.

And its not just KZbin they've taken hold of. The entire Western internet is owned, including the popular 'free speech' and 'conspiracy' platforms, where most videos are 'controlled opposition' pieces creating by rogue PR firms. Those videos and articles are designed to act as packaged 'condemned truths'. These packages contain major truths, followed by winding tales that divert away from the private actors at fault... Once a package is created, like Qanon, it works like the mortgage bond disaster of 2008. The underlying assets lose value (the tale isn't real), and as a result the foundational of the market (the major truth) crumbles under the pressure. This leaves an environment where even those who are aware of the condemned truth are mostly powerless in their attempts at turning 'major truth' into 'public knowledge'.

Crazy to watch this in 2021. Ever since the 2016 election I’ve realized how controlled and manipulated are the perceptions and world views of my leftist friends/coworkers/people my age. I’m sure it’s similar for other generations and right wing people too, but I only really know left wing millennials, so that’s all I can speak on with firsthand knowledge and experience. But I just assume all people are generally the same. When I discovered Bernays and Walter Lippmann I felt so relieved that there were other people who could see it. It’s kind of disheartening to be surrounded 24/7 by people who are basically programmed robots, but who think they’re independent individuals and free thinkers. I feel like I’m going crazy sometimes.

I don't believe the people working in these "PR" really care about your politics other than using it to manipulate your actions. The view us as herd animals to be directed. Some believe it only happens on the left. Others believe it only happens on the right. Those 2 groups are the manipulated herd. A wise person questions even the things they want to believe.

only problem with that line of thinking is that individuals are influenced by social groups and media groups, so individuals are most of the time merely reflecting what that group thinks. Very few think critically and for themselves.

How to control the masses 101 . With the internet . Back then it was TV . Each "channel" had a "program". Internet is a whole new beast. I advise all to be aware what and how much content you consume everyday . Often times there is content thrown at us "without our consent".

@@walterlippmann6292 I went on Facebook for the first time 12/2021. The amount of junk information coming from the Left is amazing, and then no one comments about the *obvious* MISSING data, or the absurd logic. "V, W, X, Y, & Z cause oil prices to go up. Biden has no control over them." Ooops, someone left out **A**, the cost of the core commodity *petroleum*. Oh well, since the average IQ is 100, by definition, half the population has an IQ under 100.

I wonder if any self-interested public relations activity has ever been engaged in by EPA regulators, climatologists, public health organizations like the CDC, anti-smoking groups, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, unions, and gun control groups? Listening to this guy talk, you'd never know it, and I'd bet my next paycheck his organization spends no time exposing it. His examples are so one-sided that all I can say is, "Your agenda is showing, pal."

@xwmgsdbzwx Is what you just posted also merely a reflection of conditioning by your social group? After all, it's not original--in fact it's quite conventional. So should we believe it when you say it, or should we assume it's merely a reflection of a society which takes behavioral psychology to be true?
