In this video we will examine Proverbs 8:22-30 and see it in light of the entire context of that chapter and the Word of God as a whole. We will see that wisdom is being personified as a woman in Proverbs 8. Many will argue that Proverbs 8:22-30 is a proof text for the Trinity. They argue that the "Son" was speaking in the beginning as a different Person beside the Father. People who believe this way also believe that the Son created all things and spoke the words of creation. But the problems with believing this way are many as it creates numerous contradictions when we compare Scripture with Scripture.
In Proverbs 8:29 if the "Son" is speaking in the beginning, then He would be telling us that the Father created by speaking the words of creation. This would then go against the very doctrine they're trying to teach by using this passage as a proof text for the Trinity. But the most obvious problem in saying that Proverbs 8:22-30 is referring to the Son is the fact that verses 1-3 establishes the context as referring to wisdom and calls wisdom a "her" and a "she." If this were referring directly to the "Son" then there is no way that He would be referred to as a "she." This is where we need to understand that it was common in Hebrew writing to personify a concept such as wisdom. Ancient Jews reading Proverbs would have understood that God's wisdom was not a different person beside Him. The Torah (first 5 books of the Old Testament) establishes that there is only one singular God whose name is Yahweh.
This video will help us to see that God's wisdom was from the beginning. It was with Him, possessed by Him, but it never was a different Person beside Him in the beginning. The same way that eternal life, His arm (power) glory, understanding, love, and His word was with Him, but not as a different Person beside Him. Wisdom was with God in that it pertained to Him; with Him in His heart and plan. God used wisdom and His word to make something out of nothing. He spoke everything into existence and His word contained all the thoughts and intents of His heart. The Son can't be speaking in Proverbs 8, because the Son only existed in the wisdom and plan of God in the beginning. God's wisdom and plan was finally revealed in the fulness of time when the Word (divine expression) became flesh and dwelt among us. The Son of God was born in Bethlehem. The "Son" in reference to God refers to the incarnation when God became a man. God wasn't man in the beginning. In the beginning God only existed as the singular, eternal, invisible, omnipresent Spirit.
By, in, and through wisdom God created all things (Proverbs 2:6; 3:19-20; Psalm 104:24, 136:5; Jeremiah 10:12-13). In Genesis 3:8 we can see how God's voice is being personified. But this doesn't mean that God's voice is a different Person beside Him in the beginning. God's voice (word) all throughout the Old Testament is not a different Person but was God simply speaking (expressing or disclosing Himself). Some examples are found in 1 Samuel 3:21; Isaiah 55:11; Psalm 107:20, 147:15,18).
We can then turn to the New Testament and learn that Jesus Christ (through the incarnation) is the wisdom of God in a mystery that was hid in God's heart from the beginning and determined before the world finally manifested and revealed to us in human form. God was manifest in the flesh. The Word (divine expression of glory, power, love and wisdom) was made flesh and dwelt among us. This is why 1 Corinthians 1:24 tells us that Jesus Christ is the wisdom and power of God. God has abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence through the incarnation by manifesting Himself in the flesh (Ephesians 1:5-11; 1 Timothy 3:16). God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself (2 Corinthians 5:19).
It is because Jesus is Yahweh's (the Father's) Person (essence/hypostasis) incarnate that He is the wisdom and power of God. The incarnation expresses the wisdom of God! But the woman of Proverbs 8 should in no way be used to directly describe Jesus, the Son of God. The manifold wisdom of God was with God in the beginning; all part of His foreordained plan and He created all things through Jesus Christ (having the incarnation in mind). The divine expression of wisdom was with God, concealed in His heart in the beginning but is now known through the incarnation after the Word was made flesh and the gospel declared. Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God revealed through the incarnation, not a different Person beside God in the beginning! Jesus is the one singular God (Yahweh) incarnate as our Saviour. God is now both Father and Son at the same time because of the incarnation. Not two different Persons, but the one singular Person of God now existing in two different manners at the same time: as God the Father (invisible, omnipresent Spirit) transcendent to His incarnation in the flesh and as the Son of God (a genuine man) through His incarnation in the flesh.

Good word brother. "The Lamb was slain before the foundation of the world"- Revelation 13:8. Christ crucified was the center of God's heart and mind before anything was ever created and Proverbs 8 reveals this. God saw Himself in Christ before anything was made. God's manifested Glory is not another person but God Himself. He looks only to His Glory which was manifested in the Son.
