The side questing in this game is what really sold me on it. The world is very alive, despite the towns being so small and sparse. I love all the blurred lines with choices, how “no good deed goes unpunished” is just a nice change up from typical fantasy.

@@Jesus_rrs RDR2 is the best game of all time for me, and I almost didn’t play it. I was not feeling it the 1st time I tried it and ditched it. Decided to give it another try this year and wow! What a game! I tried Witcher 3 before and wasn’t feeling it. Maybe I should give it another try. Is it a hard game? Is there any difficult combo etc? Nowadays I’m more into roleplaying. Like in RDR2, it doesn’t really matter what horse you use, what weapons you use. Just do whatever you want. There’s no need for minmaxing etc. Is it the same for Witcher 3?

I feel like the filler content adds depth and believability to the world. It helps if you turn off the question marks on the map. That way you organically discover only some of them which are 2 crucial improvements to avoid the feel of “filler”. Seeing and wanting to clear all ?’s makes them a tedious addition.

This is still my favorite game of all time. I'm replaying it now with the next gen update and it's amazing. I always get so easily immersed in it. I can't wait for the sequel. My biggest disappointment with TW3(there aren't many) is that a certain someone wasn't in it. I'm talking about Lorveth....whyyyy he is only a gwent card. Saved the Blood & Wine DLC up until a few weeks ago because I didn't want the game to end ... ever 😄. Was so happy that B&W gave me dozens of hours more 🤩. What a coincidence that you happened to review this, because I just started playing this again a couple of weeks ago. I have maxed out RT options on my PC but lowered some of the other graphical settings to maintain a steady 60 FPS. It looks absolutely beautiful and in combination with its art direction and music it is one of if not the most aesthetically pleasing games to simply wander in. Sunrises and sunsets across valleys and illuminating the silhouettes of trees are stunning. Its RPG elements, combat and gameplay, on the other hand are pretty shallow and dated and perhaps have always been somewhat lacklustre. Removing as many HUD elements as possible and the point of interest markers makes exploration feel much better. However, in comparison to a game like Elden Ring, The Witcher 3 was not really designed for you to avoid using quest routes on the compass and so it's very easy to get lost in the dense amount of vegetation present across the map. As a result, points of interest are quite difficult to stumble upon, but I still prefer playing this way.

I've started playing on PC after having it on xbox. With mods and the enemy combat enhanced, I'm absolutely hooked. The graphics are ridiculously beautiful, the cloak mod adds so much to the roleplay and scenes. I never loot or allow my build to become OP... I find the game much more interesting and challenging when I'm always needing coin and need the potions and prep before a contract. On xbox its age was showing, on the Legion Go, on Ultra and modded, its like a story book come alive.

The Witcher 3 is a game from an era when the industry was still exploring the limits of the open world formula, the seamlessness that it promised, and whether a great and complex story can be combined with the inherently non-linear game structure of open world. The game still holds up extremely well in the story, side quests, choice and consequence department, and mostly in the combat, but some of the content filling and padding and grind (although only a concern for completionists) is now more apparent than ever and has been disliked in recent years. But in any case there is no such thing as a perfect game, but at it's time it truly did feel to me like the best game made up to that point.

Shows how difficult it is to make a game to suit everybody. I returned the Witcher 2 because it didn't play like a Oblivion or Skyrim, I just didn't get it at all, that you were kind of fixed in your role. After playing the Witcher 3 that's after watching clips and adverts of it. I went back and managed to rebuy to Witcher 2 (days before GoG) with a now deeper understanding of the story. Although I enjoyed my playthroughs, I found the potion side in Witcher 3 preferable to Witcher 2.

I'm playing the witcher 3 next gen on PS5. No crashes at all yet here. Seems very stable on console. Love the auto oil application feature and quick cast that they added. In some ways this game feels like a game that came out this year and still better than some AAA offerings. I 100% velen and novrigrad. Not sure if I want to do that for skellige. Kind of got burnt out a bit on how many guarded and hidden treasures I did (so might just skip those). The abandoned areas that you liberate are always fun to me. Never got tired of those and the hidden side quests you find by exploration are really interesting. They are not mmo fetch quests. The lore and writing around them are usually quite good. I'm having a great time with it, can't wait to see Mort pass me up in progress in what feels like seconds lol

I guess that the lack of variable endings is disappointing…. But dawg. This game’s location-based storytelling will likely never be topped in all of video games. I dunno. I love it so, so much. So much. Velen is depressing, but reaching novigrad after many hours felt like a breath of fresh air! And what a fantastic series of quests that city has - who doesn’t love that city? It’s my fav city in all of gaming. And oxenfurt during the sunset trying to find Whoreson Junior… love it. Skellige is also phenomenal. I love Cerys’s quests. So good. And the ending… is fine. The main villain is lame but the draw of the game was always reuniting with Ciri. And what a phenomenal reunion that was. The battle at kaer morhen, returning to Novigrad and Velen to kill the crones and imlerith, the avallach quests across the universe… unforgettable. And the DLC! Jesus Christ the DLC! Hearts of stone is front-to-back amazing. No question. And blood and wine? The best video game dlc of all time. Amazing video game that I’ve replayed in full 3 times or so. I cannot wait to get back into it at some point.

CDred is releasing official mode tools which should allowe creating quest. I really hope that someone will use it to better integrade choice from W2 and generally make "Nilfgaardian invasion" better plot line what there should be >Henselt is in power if you let him live and he had defeated Nilfgardian invasion into Aerden, so now it's about Redenia vs Nilfgaard fighting over Temeria >Roche plot around Annaise, either Radovid loyalist or he is still hiding her (quet to either give her Radovi, to Nilfgaard or let Roche rise her up as normal girl) >Skeliga king ellection have influence on the result of the war (joins war, stays out of war, total Nilfgardian destruction) > Radovi keeps his ssanity if you save Triss in W2, witchunts are only on Phillipa and Lodge for kingslaying, if you give him Philipa he will stops witchhunts > more end results (basically, if you didnt saved enought sorceress, Yen will die there are some things I would like to see with Ciri, where instead pf "did you buy me an ice cream;" her choice to stay depends on how you had treated people who had helped her

Open question , with some Some context first - I've started the Witcher about 6 Years ago , played about half way to three quarters through it and eventually just gave up and moved on to whatever else caught my attention at the time. I didn't touch the expansions , which IIRC were too high level for my character anyway. Now I'm interested to go back to it. The question is : Would you recommend a fresh start or picking up from where I left off? Id like to rediscover it but the reason I gave up is cause it was so daunting with so many things to do and a never ending list of boxes to tick and loot to collect that it just stopped being fun but feel like a chore instead. Like I said i really haven't touched it for about 6 years now, but i guess i could get a recap of the story on YT up to the point I stopped. Blood and Wine in particular I regret not trying, as I hear its awesome. Open to suggestions :)

I loved the story through and through. No other game ever has had me so engrossed within almost all of the quests. Only BG3 recently kept my attention as much as the Witcher 3. Currently playing Hogwarts and Cyberpunk. May take a look at the Witcher 3 again once I review all the mods available.

Witcher 3 is a great game, but it still falls short of the expectations seeded from witcher 2. I find it a fair bit less dark and less grounded and also the lack of any iorveth-saskia routes or characters altogether was extremely disappointing. That radenia in a winter managed to invade, conquer and absorb an entire country while the empire did absolutely nothing cause "winter" but radenia could do all that despite "winter" if you sit and think about it, it is a bit immersion breaking and its evident it was done for the story writters' sake.

Hell yeah, The Witcher 2 is also my favorite! To make Thr Witcher 3's combat and mechanics deeper and more in line with The Witcher 2, I highly recommend using the mod "The Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition Redux" (the original is sadly unavailable)

Like many people, I tried it 3 times (on ps4) and I just didn’t enjoy it. Bought it again on steam this year for €5. After 8 hours I stopped playing because I got so HOOKED I’m gonna wait for a sale and play the Witcher 1 and 2 before it. Gosh what an amazingly crafted game.

You speak wisdom, I am still under impression from W2, years after and having multiple playthrough and endings. I got burned out on w3 and I still have to fully finish the game. After 100h the sword cant take you so far gameplay wise. Not gonna lie, I find cyberpunk easier to replay, its me tho, not the w3 :3 (fillers In w3 did burn me out the most)

i didnt even bother replaying this game after i finished it and both expansions. I dont know why, even though it could be curious to check out the HDR and Ray Traced visuals. The Witcher 2 i completed about 4 or 5 times? I enjoyed it that much - you have 2 very different story paths and game was just long enough not to bore you to death. The original Witcher is in the same bag - i only finished it once, having a bootleg dvd version of it for the lack of anything else - and i had no internet back then. It was release version you can imagine how buggy it was. I tried to get on it later with the finalized edition but again couldnt handle it :(

The best game ever made. The writing, direction, dialogues, the story, characters, the score, choices algorithm (everything changes depenging of what you do even 50 hours earlier), pacing. Everything here is gorgeous. Only boss fights and character customization should be better imo.

Not even close. Plenty of creative mistakes. Lots of useless items, artificial "rush" to save Ciri while the game bombards you with sidequests, map full of ubisoft-esque crap, villagers can kill easily if they are higher level (you are freaking Geralt of Rivia, levels should be nonexistent regarding normal people, you're unbeatable (unless a riot breaks)), crafting is shite, and level1 geralt is a Witcher with 2 swords and 5 spells and in the end Geralt is still using 2 swords and 5 spells. No fkin way this is the best game ever.
