When Yennefer hugs Ciri, what you see is her motherly side show. To her Ciri /is/ her daughter, she helped to raise her. Look at everything she did during the game. She's a mother willing to do anything for her child by blood or not. So anyone who thinks Yen's cold hearted, has not realized her true devotion to her family, they've not seen the face of a real mother. Yennefer loves her daughter Cirilla.

Karley Delgado Yea Yen gives off a not caring attitude towards others, but in truth she was strongly loyal to those she cared about. When separated from Geralt over the years she kept informed to what he was doing and on at least one occasion paying to have rewards for contracts for him increased (although done in a way that he would not find out as he was too "honorable"). She was fully aware of his Destiny and when last meeting before he found Ciri told him to go find her. Yen wasn't to happy to have to train Ciri (more so as Triss had been asked first, and she was still annoyed by Triss using magic to seduce him once) , but Ciri and her gained a very strong bond which Rita told the lodge was blatently evident upon seeing the two of them together. Furthermore in the books Yennefer does everything in her power to find and save Ciri. I do love this scene as Yennefer clearly very strongly guards her true feelings (the lodge meeting in Baptism of Fire is a great example of this) , but the sheer excitement of seeing her daughter causes her to just pour out. Also later ingame she spends most of her time right next to Ciri.

That's ironic since Yen is the one who's more honest and detests scheming and politics. In the books if I recall Triss sided with the Lodge in their plan to kidnap and exploit Ciri for their own gain. To say nothing of her deliberately misleading an amnesiac Geralt into thinking she was the love of his life, and only folding when he realized who Yen was and that she was still alive. The only reason Yen seems so bad for much of the game is because she's terrified that the Hunt will find Ciri. If you stick by her, you'll notice she loosens up pretty much as soon as she reaches Kaer Morhen.

This scene is the first time since that day in Rivia that Triss and Ciri have seen each other again. I feel CDPR could've given their reunion a little more than they did. Triss was also the one who, with the help of Tissaia, got Geralt to Brokilon. I prefer Yen personally, but Triss certainly loves Geralt and Ciri.

People said Yen was cruel and deceiving in this game with scenes like the garden or the mask. All I saw was pretty much a Mom doing everything she can to find Ciri, even if means she is vilified, spited and hated for her actions. She didn't care, for everything she did was for Ciri.

True. A lot of people use those actions against her and even compare Triss' saving the mages from Novigrad as heroic whereas Yennefer was selfish, which is ironic because Yennefer did something even more heroic with self-sacrifice: just so she could make sure her 'daughter' is safe again, Yennefer was willing to be hated and turned into a social pariah in Skellige (an entire region!). If she ever gets hurt or lost or in need of help there, nobody would help her and it'll be fine because Ciri's safety was more important than hers. Like how a mother should be.

You should read the book "Sword of Destiny" and "Blood of Elves". They contain how Ciri met Geralt and Yennefer and bonded with them and it's extremely heartwarming in both cases. The game barely even shows it accurately.

So many people debate on who Geralt should choose to romance, but for me personally, I think it is totally Yennefer. Even if you haven't read the books and only played the games, if you just look at the way Ciri reacts to reuniting with Triss and Yen, I think it is clearly obvious who Ciri prefers...and what Ciri thinks oddly determined most of my gameplay. I found Yen's and Ciri's reuniting so affectionate. Just the way Yen gets all enthusiastic and runs like a goober to Ciri and just sweeps her into her arms. And compliments her beauty and such..it's adorable. It's so motherly and it really showed a whole other side to Yennefer that you don't really see in the game. On the other hand, I found Triss's and Ciri's so uncomfortable and awkward. Not very enthusiastic, almost like it was a chore to say hello. And then she calls her 'little sis'...that is what made it weird for me. I really got attached to Ciri throughout the gameplay, and I definitely felt that fatherly vibe. As a result I just found it so weird how the chick I could be banging sees my psuedo daughter as a sister. That made me completely nope out of that. I've played the games first, and then I read the novels after, so my choices weren't determined by that. Yet, it's so odd how I naturally preferred Yen in the games. I mean, she was such a sarcastic cunt to Geralt most of the time...but I absolutely adored that about her. I just felt there was so much more to her and I found her destructive motherly instinct so enduring. Not only that, but I guess I preferred Yen's body over Triss's.

For the most part, the game did a poor job of reflecting just how close Yennefer was to Ciri. It's fair to say that Yennefer was more a mother to Ciri than Geralt was a father, at least in the books. Which you wouldn't know just from playing the game. This scene at least hinted a little bit at that relationship, but it should've been elaborated on much more than it was.

OdysseusKing She was running herself ragged trying to find her. She used necromancy just to get some info on her. Stole the Mask of Ourobos, destroyed the Garden and alienated pretty much all of Skellige. The whole reason she agreed to work with Emyhr was because he had information on Ciri. I’d say she was just as determined to find her as Geralt. That’s love.

Absolutely spot on. Same opinion. Triss romance is like a new relationship with nothing but compliments and slight nervousness but yens is like deep love. Lots of fights, but intense love. You hurt the ones you love the most because yoy know they wont stop loving you because of it. Probably why yen is sometimes a bit prickly. But you can see they all love each other. All those things make the DLC's very hard for me to go through. That loneliness, omg... The world feels so empty without Ciri and Yen. I've compleeted Heart of Stone and not yet halfway through Blood and Wine, I shall finish them, but... Things ain't the same anymore. I rushed through sidequests because I though it was weird to run after Ciri and still have time for dumb quests. But now that the story line is done... there's no real motivation anymore. First time I ever end up in a game feeling lonely.

CDPR Projekt Red are just amazing. What they managed to do with The Witcher on a pretty small budget, with a tiny team, is unbelievable. Perhaps it's proof that too many cooks spoil the broth. But, everything about this game was on point. The VA performances, the unparralelled facial animations for a game that used procedural animation instead of mo cap, the plot, the character dialogues and interactions, the world building, the side quests... The list goes on and on. I don't know any words hyperbolic enough to adequately explain my awe and appreciation for The Witcher 3 and the people who made it. Bravo, good sirs. 👏

As someone who really doesn't like Triss, especially in the games. I wish they gave her something more here. Ciri means a lot to her too, she truly is like her little sister. That, almost calm "little sis" just doesn't feel like how Triss would react. It sounds more like my sister when I haven't visited her for a couple months, not if she hadn't seen me for years and had spent months not knowing if I was safe.
