I want to tell Lambert and Eskel not to go away, not forever...that they're family and need to return every few years, as I/Geralt will...because even though Vesemir is dead and the heart has been cut out of this place, he can be brought back for a time if all 3 of us are here. The bond is too important to let die and pass into ruins utterly. People speak of video games as though they are shallow, foolish things, wastes of time fit only for little boys, whether young or old. People who speak that way have no idea what a game like Witcher 3 truly is.
@naxx3434

@@MrBrachiatingApe I agree with you. Though Vesemir is dead, these three withers, Triss, Yenn, Dandallion and Zoltan they're all like family to each other. I've never listened to people who says videogames are foolish things, like stupid waste of time. Playing a good single player game with a good story is like a reading a good book. Try Red Dead Redemption 2. The game is so great, i've comleted RDR 2 a year ago, but i still remember that game like it was yesterday.

Some people say singleplayer games are dead, it is cause, no one wants to make them as good as they should be. Witcher 3 is an example with great story, an interesting talks, quests and fights. You start to feel characters and love them, not as they'd be like someone who you meet and never remember again. Creators these days are bothered to get more money from multiplayer games with donate

its 2020 now...and Witcher 3 is still not beat...not even by CDPR's own Cyberpunk. Witcher 3 is just something legendary...something awesome, the best of all time. It'll forever be my favorite, I don't think any game ever will reach the level of affection that I have for W3. if its anything...that game will have to be like, really really over the top and something very very very special.

Finished the main story, finished Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine, did every single side quest in the game (DLC included), discovered every location everywhere, I've done everything, yet I still come back to this game, my most recent save is in Kaer Morhen, overlooking the mountains from the courtyard, and every now and then I turn on the game and I just stand there, looking at the beautiful vista with the trees dancing in the wind, listening to this music. No other game ever made me feel how this game makes me feel.

I felt so goddamn empty once I completed this. I hadn't done everything, at the time, I'd done a lot and dusted off the main campaign just after Heart of Stone's release and once it concluded, I just sat there for ages. Couldn't quite get over the conclusion to Geralt's story, realising that I'd never play a game quite like it again and that was actually pretty gutting. Went back through it and did the DLC and then upon that conclusion it felt even worse, with Geralt effectively signing off on the game from a personal point. Goddamn this game, man. Its ruined every other RPG and fantasy game for me.

I have to agree with other commenters - when you go to Kaer Morhen after dealing with the outside world in Witcher 3, it feels so safe. You save people on a day to day basis just to get spit in your face, kill deadly Wraiths for 10 crowns a contract, walk in cities with open discrimination with your life at risk constantly - but at Kaer Morhen people understand you. You aren't perfect, but you each share a struggle, the tragedy and reality that is being a Witcher in a harsh and unforgiving landscape. It's ironic, as harsh and bitter cold as the mountains of Kaer Morhen are, they offer one of the warmest places in the Witcher 3 game. Yes, I think I'll run the walls again Zirael.

Everytime I go to Kaer Morhen and this plays, I always think of Uncle Vesemir. I don't know why I'm so sad and alone at Kaer Morhen even going there but it reminds me of someone I know that I'm close to and never had a chance to say goodbye before going to the other side. Thinking of that too brings this music in mind. It's sad and also a relief thinking the days you're with that person.

It's because they built those connections for you. that starting scene with Ciri and the witchers training their, the fact that whenever you are outside you are always kept in a state of being despised by the general population of NPCs but when you go to Kaer Morhen, it feels like some sort of retreat where there is no one but the haunting ruins of the castle and the nature around it. inside, there are your friends, witchers who are just like you, your father-like teacher, your lover, your daughter and safety and peace. Even the interactions you have with the characters that for the short time, that quest about hunting a gryphon, that quest with lambert, the talks with vesemir, the snowball fight with Ciri. CDPR did a masterful job at characterization and helping you related and become involved with the good life of the witcher and then the wold hunt comes and rips it right apart. Now when you go to Kaer Morhen, you will want for that time of happiness, but it is gone and will never return. It's like becoming old, losing your youth, losing a family or loved one.

"There was a palpable sense of sadness about the place. It was like... It was like the castle was a grand old soldier. A man who had fought many battles and gained many honors and victories. But time and compounded injuries had beaten him down. He was no longer the proud warrior of before, he could no longer straighten or hold his sword in a strong grip. His mind is feeble and you can imagine his pain in remembering what the past had been. But just, in the depth of eyes that are facing with cataracts, you get a sense of the man that used to stride the battlefields of his youth and men fought to get out of his way. That is what Kaer Morhen is like." - Frederick von Coulthard, Professor of Anthropology, Oxenfurt Academy

This game and this song hold a special place in my heart and soul that nothing else can touch. I purchased my first house, had my stepdaughter and fiance living with me. We were anticipating the birth of our son in 2015. I spent months playing Witcher 3 and even got my fiance into Gwent. I felt that all was right in the world and this song was home. Our son passed away that December and we were heartbroken but we got through it. For the longest time I could not listen to this song as it brought back pain. I played it today for the first time in a long time 1/12/20. I adopted my stepdaughter and we had another son, but my wife and I are going through the painful process of divorce and I only get to see my kids about 12 days a month. This song brings me back to a time that was full of peace and anticipation. I feel small pangs of pain for my first son and for the loss of the marriage, but I realize that it is the theme of home in this same house; the true home of my children where they can feel safe, secure, and loved beyond measure

The world doesn't need Witchers anymore. Kaer Mohen, one of their fortresses, where brutal and cruel rituals would turn young boys into inhuman killing machines, lies now in ruins. Papa Vesemir is dead at the hand of the Wild Hunt, Eskel chose to wander away consequently, and the old place is crumbling on itself. You couldn't find a better tune, which instils sadness, melancholy and regret to illustrate Kaer Mohen. And now, far, far away, Geralt is with Yennefer, freed from the cruelty and violence he knew.

+Alexandre Gilis No, Witchers are most definitely still needed in the world. You clearly didn't read the books. Monsters are actually becoming more prevalent instead of the inverse. In the Witcher universe there will always be monsters to slay and Witcher's are needed to do so. Maybe in 1000 years there wont be a need for them.
@alexnetsec

Ulysses101 I didn't read all of them, but from what I found by looking up the really big bad monsters have been so reduced in numbers they fled to remote corners of the world and became stuff of legends. You still have here and there drowners, ghouls, sirens and nekkers, but they can still be dealth with by common soldiery. Maybe in more recent cannon monsters are coming back, for me anything goes as long as we can have more Witcher!

Whoever says anything, I love returning to Kaer Morhen every time, and after finishing the game too. That feeling of loneliness, solitude from the whole world and the realization that in this huge location there is nobody but you and a pair of rock trolls to the north, is indescribable. The feeling of emptiness and sadness is replaced by calm and saturation of spiritual strength, which you scoop while meditating among the ruins of the bastion or in the fortress itself. Indescribable emotions, in this loneliness, it is true that there is something. Thank you, The Witcher 3, for these feelings.

I only recently played the Witcher 3 for the first time and I remember starting up a new game. The cinematic plays, then the Geralt in the bath cutscene. After the cutscene ends, you can start controlling your character. The first thing I did was go out onto the balcony. As I took my first look into the world of the Witcher, the scenery in front of me, the Kaer Morhen theme kicked in and I immediately fell in love with the game. It's now my favourite game of all time. Idk why, but the start of the game just feels magical to me. Dreamlike, nostalgic. I wish I could experience that beginning all over again. THAT'S how you start a game

Dude, literally same. Just finished the game and currently reading the books. They are just as goof if not even better than the witcher 3, and that's saying something, since it is my favourite game of all time.

It's funny how this song can seem so happy one minute, then sad the next. At the start of Witcher 3 & later on when everyone's all there, it feels so lively & filled with the love of your friends & loved ones... But, in the end, when no one else but you is there, you feel all alone... standing near the very same table where you shared a drink with Lambert, Eskel, & Yennefer. 😢 This game is truly one of a kind, & no other game has ever made me feel so emotionally invested in its story, world, or characters ever since. Thank you, CDPR! ❤

As I fleet from place to place, from one quest to another, I start to feel a sense of emptiness within. I try to trace my path to a place called Kaer Morhen, yet when this music comes on and the tunes flow through me, I feel being washed by feelings of sadness. The walls are cold and this witcher heart aches, maybe for the men that once called this place home, or perhaps it knows that this is the end of a marvelous journey.

Truly the greatest game ever, accompanied by the best franchise ever. The little references to the first two Witcher games always hit me with nostalgia, the world spaces were beautiful and packed with life, the story was engaging, the combat was smooth, Geralt as badass as always, just an all round fantastic game that definitely deserved game of the year. The whole Witcher saga is so breathtakingly awesome.

I studied in the UK for 3 years, lived on my own and made amazing friends and memories...they're all still there and I'm not(I'm in Canada). Whenever I hear this theme it takes me back to "Home".

I don't have any words to describe this beautiful game. Every aspect of this game is beautiful and view of the mountain pass from the balcony at Kaer Morhen with this music on is just so peaceful. It feels so real! This is simply the best game I've ever played. This game has special place in my heart.

It has such a peaceful yet nostalgic/lonely feel to it. This once mighty fortress that fielded dozens of cadets and witchers now stands empty, with seemingly no one to call it home. The history of all souls past slowly fading away as the walls crumble and the forest creeps in. I believe the music does a good job at representing what Kaer Morhen is, Home. The sad tune represents the history that has gone there, the memories that each Witcher has engraved there. But the peaceful tune represents the home that it is, each Witcher finding safety and haven from their dangerous work. At least how I interpret it. What a godly game The Witcher 3 was 😢
