Phantom Liberty and the new Eternal Fire quest from W3 next gen was made by W4 team, so i trust it 90% Hell even Blood and Wine has crazier retcons and considered better than base game (Geralt taking 3rd mutations, Regis revived from literal puddle by fanfic character aka Detlaff, Ciri drinking Black Blood potion to fight off a vampire, or if you get Empress ending she's basically changed her mind about it) My only worry is just that ONE guy who wants to throw hands at people, CDPR really should shut him up.

@@Vry9 That is literaly said in both blood of elves and sword of destiny that her elder blood makes her unable to undergo mutations. Ciri was abducted by queen of dryads and given water that was supposed to transform Ciri into dryad too. But the queen said to Geralt that Ciris elder blood prevents her from undergoing any physical changes to her body = it is impossible for Ciri to go through mutationes to become a witcher.

I played Cyberpunk 2077 day and agree it needed a lot of work. That said, Cyberpunk 2077 now is a great game, and Phantom Liberty was amazing. It's one of my favorite DLCs.

I was initially worried about Ciri becoming a Witcher. But logically speaking, it only makes sense from a gameplay perspective. LIke the devs suggested, any other male Witcher would just be a pale imitation of what Geralt has been. Same old mechanics. Whereas with Ciri who's a Witcher/ Sorceress hybrid, there's more they can do. As for lore. All Witcher games are in fact fanfic that take place after the books end. They also differ to the books in many ways (currently reading though the books right now actually, not too impressed). Hot take, but the Witcher games did more for the IP than the original author could ever have hoped for. They elevated this franchise to heights that it would never have reached. Also, the funny thing is, all these whiny arsehats aren't going to play the W4 anyway! That's a lot of energy b*tching and screeching about something they're not even going to spend money on.

I am not overly concerned about CDPR, Cyberpunk 2077 was only a minorly dodgy for PC gamers (this includes myself) and yes I know there were many problems for console gamers at launch I have seen the videos. I am quite happy with CDPR and my main concerns would only ever be outside influence (Netflix show), which they have so far said are not involved at all. Also if your a true Witcher fan you should not be upset about Ciri being the protagonist other than mourning there is not more new Geralt gameplay.

As I see it, people that have a passion about an IP should complain, if they personally fear that that studio are not true to the IP / will release a crappy product (code, story, engine, voice, etc). If the assumption was correct, and the studio turns around, it could still be saved. Or was correct, and studio don't turn, it still can be good. The release of AC-Shadows will be telling if "complaining" will have effect of what a game releases as.

Just because most of modern games are unoptimized, doesn't mean this one will be too. Current hardware is insanely capable, yet most studios use it to slack on optimization. Also that would be on ultra+ setting for upcoming hardware. CDPR's games were always very good looking. Even without next-gen update W3 still looks stunning today, that's almost 10 y.o. game!

Ciri being a protagonist isn't an issue. Issue is messing with the lore, retconning it to fit their narrative and changing Ciri to look like some weirdo (we can hope that this is just the initial trailer and she'll look as she used to later, Geralt's look also differed in videos). They could have made a game with Ciri as main protagonist and as a character who's trained in melee by witchers, trained in sorcery by sorceresses and who has her own unique Elder Blood powers, someone who combines all of these to make a unique character and thus a new and unique game in Witcher world.

Even in the books she is referred to as a Witcher, gets the training, her own medallion and does infact undergo a small part of the process. She isn’t a TRUE Witcher but is infact still considered a witcher. She doesn’t go through a full trial of the grasses. the book writer himself yknow the guy who dictates the lore refers to her as a Witcher! The man who made the series. If you actually knew the lore as much as you say you do you would then know she is considered a Witcher in both games and books even the shows that did a crap job at the lore says she’s a Witcher so yknow maybe re learn the lore a bit more

One of the difference besides trail of the grasses that differentiate a Witcher and a monster hunter is “a witchers rigorous training process from a very young age to be adept at killing monsters, the ability to combine physical and magical knowledge to take down monsters as well as unsurpassed knowledge and understanding of the monsters” so no Leo bonhart can’t be concidered a Witcher if he goes out killing monsters he would be a monster hunter which is their own faction in game. Ciri on the other hand even though not going through the trials has all of the Witcher training. Ciri going through the training and having said ability to use magic and determine the monsters is a Witcher but she isn’t a true Witcher due to not going through the trials. If you seen the trailer as well ciri is wearing a madalian we have not seen before so the possibility is she is part of a new Witcher school which in the books near the end it is hinted at “new possibilities for Witcher schools”

I love the idea of a full game with Ciri as the lead, she is one of my favorite characters. Personally I hate the idea of witcher 4 as it has been revealed and the development path cdpr went with and as such I will follow the advice you gave in regard to letting my displeasure be know via my wallet but you can't insult those who want to be vocal about the series they love and want to see return to the MAIN character geralt. Why is that opinion and vocalization any worse than yours?

Yea man I agree. However… in the Witcher 3. They were very clear about it being the end of Geralts story…. Would have liked to see a new character completely tbh. But as long as they handle the lore correctly…. Then any “lover” of the Witcher series should be okay with Ciri taking over…

@_choom_24 then they should have made a new IP. Call it cirilla or lady of the lake or or lady of space and time or anything other than witcher 4. Instead they went against the lore making her a real witcher when it is stated that no female can be survive the trial of the grasses. They will say "oh it's the elder blood" it's a cheap way to make her the main character and it's lazy. She didn't need to be a witcher to be powerful

@@2CHUNKA no that makes her a plot device that for the entirety of the series has to be carried by the main character. She is side character point blank full stop. The series starts out being called the Witcher. Sapkowski made the distinction clear she is train as a witcher in regards the conditioning and is given what could amount to growth stimulants but never the mutations which are required in the making of a true witcher.

Given CDPR past record, this game will be playable about 2 years post launch, when you will be able to get it for half of it's launch price. I think that's the way to go

Could’ve given us an option like play as ciri or make your own if you make your own then ciri is in your game however you left it in Witcher 3 so if she went as empress you can help her or do missions to help her as empress or if she finished Witcher path she could guide you through your Witcher journey and then have the option if you want to play as ciri if you wanted to instead etc

My greater worry is not that the game won’t be fun. I just worry that it’ll be a buggy unplayable mess like Cyberpunk was. They made some good changes and ultimately fixed the game, but I’m skeptical to it happening again.

Even if they say they have no ties with SBI and they haven't heard of them until recently(when every gamer has know them for a long time now) I still DO NOT WANT TO PLAY AS CIRI. I was so hyped for this game when rumors started because they were showing a cool male character in it in the previous. So no. I am not buying it. I liked Ciri in The Witcher 3 but I hated playing as her. She is no Witcher.
