Dear CDPR, I love you games. I bought them all (on GOG, of course) and treasure them. But please, do all your fans one huge favor with The Witcher 4 -- TAKE YOUR TIME. Release the game when it's actually ready. Even when a developer "redeems" themselves by fixing a game over months or even years following a buggy release, it would be so much better if fixing it post-launch wouldn't be necessary to begin with. I know it's hard to do in this day and age, but I believe you can do it. So, please do. Thank you.

I read online playing the games in order doesn’t matter for the Witcher 4, also it doesn’t affect the plot so you don’t have to play any of them to understand 4. It says it just takes place a few years after Witcher 3 but then again idk that’s what it says on google. Either way don’t worry, just play the games at your pace and enjoy it.

The trailer seems to keep the tone and overall feel of the setting, so there's that. Also looks nice. I'm cautiously optimistic after what all the other studios have shown. Hopefully CDPR have learned the correct lessons form Cyberpunk as well as other recent releases, and won't toss gameplay, lore, characters, setting and story into a latrine, only to set it on fire.

She appears to be more mature also through her voice actress. I assume there passed some years since Witcher 3. However, that's not necessarily always the developers' fault. I only say this only for games like COD. People from that community have no life and buy a pos video game every single year, getting ripped off especially when the game itself completely fell off, they kill old games so people can hop on the new ones so the majority of servers become empty over time since a new game releases every year. Money hungry company it’s honestly sad how much they abuse the consumers, but I also blame the consumers for feeding them more $ bunch of fools, even if it’s their $ who cares you’re buying trash that keeps getting worse every year. This game on the other hand looks fun, I never played a Witcher game but I might buy this one, just need to see gameplay footage and wait for reviews and I’ll buy it. Even then I never played a buggy mess of a game with single player. Only game I experienced buggy was battlefield but that was playing multiplayer.

Well, that unannounced RTX card will finally be good enough to play Cyberpunk 2077 at it's maximum settings with decent framerate. Oh yeah, of course excited for The Witcher 4 too, so I'll be able to play that in 2035 when there's a good enough GPU to run that half decent (8K probably by then). Unless Nvidia monopoly or WW3 makes it so bad I can't afford anything by then.

@@WoWFtw8 One of the possible endings to Witcher 3 involves Ciri and Geralt going off on the path together. It's the good ending if you don't bring her to see the Emperor. There was nothing about her losing her spacetime powers, though. My best guess is that she's channeling them into the magic we see her using in the fight; they don't look analogous to standard witcher Signs, at least to me.

Curious to learn the lore behind the Cat potion (or some variation thereof) that Ciri drinks in this trailer. IIRC she is a normal human (i.e. no Witcher mutations), so I assume it's some variant of Cat that won't kill a human. Have you any idea how new game reveals work? Go back and look at how The Witcher 3 was revealed before release. The Witcher 4 - quite clearly - is in development and CDPR will show it to you, "No, bunch of numbers", when they're good and ready. I 'll patiently wait until the complete game is sold and properly reviewed. Still this seems in line with the stories so far. I really hope you can quaff potions mid fight.

I like Ciri, but I don't like to play female characters. Hard to relate. May be they should do switchable characters like GTAV?

I hate to break it to you, but that's male insecurity talking, nothing else. If you played AC Odyssey as Alexios, you first of all missed the canonical storyline, but you also missed out on playing a truly great and interesting - and actually deep - character - Kassandra. The male character was just an afterthought replacement for insecure male players and the story was just not designed for a male protagonist, plain and simple. Whom do you want to play in an ALIEN game, by the way? That whole franchise evolves around strong female characters - and the topics and themes all ALIEN movies and games touch upon are deeply related to female topics - including fear of rape, which is one of the main horror themes of ALIEN. That just doesn't work that well for male characters. Here's one other thought why you should give playing female characters a chance: They are usually much better designed and better written with much more attention to detail and that makes them more believable than the card box male cliché characters we get served that I personally cannot relate to at all. At the end of the day, it's about taking a vacation from your own life for a short while and visiting someone else's world. And given the choice, I rather spend that time with a flamethrower carrying Ellen Ripley who is defending her daughter than with a male lowlife pimp and drug addict from GTA. But that's just me.

40-year-old guy here, and I think it's either insecurity as the other commenter said, or just an unwillingness to use your imagination. I can place myself into any protag, provided they're well-written. In tabletop, I have played male and female PCs in almost equal measure. My gender identity is completely and totally male, and playing a female character of either my own or somebody else's invention doesn't change that one bit.

@@winfriedmaus You sound like an insecure woman. What's it to you that some guys myself included don't enjoy playing a female character. You got butt hurt because someone stated that they can't relate to a female character big deal, grow a set and move on.

I don't think it necessarily has anything to do with insecurity. I feel the same way as ANBUJ but I'm female so the other way around. It truly is about not being able to relate or identify with the main character enough. I feel similarly when the story is too predetermined (or at least when there's not enough of an illusion of choice). It's a big reason why I couldn't get into Witcher 3 when I tried, I think. I know it excludes a lot of great games, but it's just how some people enjoy playing.

Woman and LGBT protagonist ≠ "woke", if there is sense. Some people are oversensitive. But I understand that they have reason to be afraid, because of what some game-devs are doing. In the case of The Witcher IV, we still have to wait for more information.

Witcher mutations were developed for male physiology, so to this point all witchers have been male. Ciri has a way of being the exception to every rule, however, and I doubt she went through the Trial of the Grasses. In other words, you *could* make this work with the lore for her, and her alone. I'm dead neutral on the matter until we see the lore justifications and writing.

So...this is going to be a Ciri oriented game, with Geralt being nothing more than an honorable mention. I'm sure the game will be good but Geralt IS 'The' Witcher.
