Aside from that, have you heard of Obduction? Cyan is making a spiritual successor to Myst. :)

From what I've heard, the panels are just a means of entering the solutions to a lot of the puzzles, which are more based on the environment. I'm guessing this game can/will be more deep and interesting than Myst.

+NemRaps No, people need to stop saying this, it's blatantly false. The Witness is a game that gives the player a single puzzle mechanic and features it in various forms. It also has to teach the player the rules of the puzzles through puzzles of increasing difficulty and complexity. Myst was a game where you explore, look for bits and pieces of info such as a string of numbers or an image resembling a puzzle, jot it down in a notebook, and later punch that info into a panel of some sort. Don't get me wrong, I love Myst to death and am really excited for The Witness, but please stop with the comparisons just because they take place on an island.

Braid looked like a simple "2D retro Prince of Persia" game at first glance, and that turned out to be one of the best designed games ever! I can't wait to play this. I don't understand what that gameplay is about yet, but knowing Jonathan Blow, discovering how the game works will probably be the best part of the game. On a side note, the artwork is fantastic! I love the colors, the lighting, the shapes, the subtle textures, it looks fantastic. You can tell the artists really poured their hearts into it.

What are we witnessing? I cursed his name nightly, and even so, I returned again, and again, and again. Sometimes with my son, or with my wife, or even with the entire family, instead of watching the super-bowl pre-game show. The Witness was one of the hardest and most satisfying experiences I've ever had in a game. I consider it one of the first games to reach the lofty status of Art. Play it with friends, play it alone, just make sure you play it.

I am so hyped for this game, and have gone to slightly unhealthy lengths to get it. My laptop is a Mac, which means it can't play PC-exclusive games like this; my PC desktop doesn't get internet because my apartment complex charges $60 a month for it; and I don't want to have to wait for iOS. So I'm getting a copy of Windows 7, installing it on my Mac in parallel with OS X using Boot Camp, and downloading this game on-campus. I should point out this is the third solution I have attempted. That is how hyped I am for this game. When I hear terms like "inspired by _Myst_" and "puzzle that only 1% of players will be able to solve", I go into a weird place in my brain where nothing else matters. If this sort of behavior is wrong, I don't want to be right.
