As a kid, Wizard of Oz was an annual event in my household. I'm talking the 60's. When Dorothy opened the door to Munchkin land and everything was in color 😤. When I first saw this I was amazed at the talent of these 6 people. Todrick's vision brought to life and done respectfully in homage of a movie I adore to this day. Great reaction.

This is my favorite music video of all time. Pure genius from beginning to end. This was Todrick's production. He grew up with Scott, Kirstie & Mitch in Arlington, Texas, and even though he was a few years older and went to a different school, they all knew each other from local youth musical theater. Todrick's all-time favorite movie is The Wizard of Oz, and he had been wanting to do a project with his childhood friends once Pentatonix's star began to rise. In the behind the scenes video for this, he said that Kirstie was his only female friend that he hadn't ever made dress up as Dorothy! Also, the members of PTX had been looking for a project that would finally put Kirstie in the spotlight because she had mostly taken a background role in the group up to this point. So Todrick put this together and Kirstie (as well as everyone else) truly shined! BTW, the dog in the first scene is actually Todrick's dog, and his name is...wait for it...TOTO!!

I'm so glad you enjoyed this! One of the more widely known reactors drove me nuts with this because he'd not only never seen the movie, he didn't even know how it went, so the whole thing went over his head and just confused him. It was a really frustrating reaction. You, on the other hand, caught on within two or three songs what Todrick had done, so that was awesome. I just reviewed your Pentatonix playlist and am STUNNED to note that you still haven't looked at Bohemian Rhapsody. I know you are bombarded with all kinds of suggestions but seriously; you MUST bring that one to the top of the list, for your own delight (and ours). It is an unbelievably good cover. Brian May (of Queen) saw it and posted a link to his own social media accounts with the word "enjoy" so if you're at all concerned that it will disappoint, you can toss that fear away. My other favorite Todrick Hall, in collaboration with Superfruit (and Kirstie) is "Black and White." It's deserving of great praise, for its catchy tune, choreography, singing, and brilliant lyrics. The lyrics are important and deserve some attention over and above the video itself.

I love the look on your face when Kirsty started singing was so sweet. I don’t know why but Scott’s first solo is my favorite of all his singing. And don’t get me started on Avi. Don’t know if someone has already mentioned it, but it’s my understanding that Todrick attended the same high school as Kirsten, Scott and Mitch. Their music, choir, drama teachers must be over the moon with pride. In an off-shoot, after discovering Pentatonix, I went back to watch the Sing-Off Season 3. The group that rivaled Pentatonix was the Dartmouth Aires. You should find Episode 7 where they (DA) did a medley from Queen. It was awesome!

The dog is Todrick's pet, actually named Toto! They had a budget to be mindful of, so many of the costumes were borrowed & no $ for a hired Toto. So it is serendipity that there is a 4th male PTX member whose parts have almost no lyrics (Kevin doing the beatboxing), so not a singing role, so they turn him into Toto while Dorothy's in Oz. It perfectly solves giving Kevin an established character to play & also keeps them from trying to have a pet be a trained acting dog through the long filming hours. 👏👏👏

Travis, I found your channel a couple of weeks ago. You are a sweet, kind, tender-hearted person and I love your authentic reactions. Todrick is a big Wizard of Oz fan. It has shown up in other things he's done. He was an American Idol contestant, also from Arlington TX like Kirstie, Mitch and Scott, though several years older. Todrick has done a couple videos with RuPaul. Check out Low, or Dem Beats.
