The reason why he is a Tin man is because, in the story he was once a real man and a woodcutter named Nick Chopper. He fell in love with a woman in Munchkinland. He and her wanted to get married, but his lover's lazy sister didn't want her to leave. So the sister asked the Wicked Witch of the East to deal with him. So the witch cursed his axe. So next time he used it, it began to chop him up. Then the blacksmith quickly found him and saved him the only way he knew how: By rebuilding him out of tin!

Fun Fact: Buddy Ebsen was the original Tin Man, but the aluminum dust from the makeup nearly killed him, and he was quickly replaced by Jack Haley.
@MaskedMan66
@MaskedMan66 3 жыл бұрын
A fact, but not a fun one. It kicked off a bronchial condition he had, and two weeks in an oxygen tent in hospital and a few more weeks at home put him right. He went straight on to make two movies that were released in 1939. Jack Dawn reformulated the make-up into an aluminum paste so the same thing wouldn't happen with Jack Haley.

My very favorite scene. This is how I felt when I retired a few years early, sold the suburban house from which I could commute to jobsites, moved to the lake cabin full time and started to experience the new life of going to bed and awakening here without ever having to slog back to the city in Sunday evening traffic. "Ohhhh...it feels wonderful. I've been holding that axe up for ages." The nickname for the lake house is "The Oil Can". Thank You, Lord!
