Beulah Mae Donald didn’t care that she lived in a racist town. The KKK had murdered her son, and she vowed to get justice. Was she delusional? Or could one determined mother really bring down an entire system of hatred? #pushblack #blackhistory

@@crematedableAnd yet they believe all the white superiority bull crap they never see. They always think they invented everything without looking up the history, always think they the smartest without statistics, and always believe that minorities are the most dangerous even though the only murderers and terrorist they ever saw was their people. That is no excuse just because they live in isolation. They believe what they want vs what is. That’s why they created their xenophobic bubble.

How the hell did THAT get left out of my high school history class?!?! I don’t care if it’s called CRT or anything else but history is supposed to actually tell what happened in the past so we can do our best to not repeat the stupid 💩 our ancestors did. A UK guy. In 1982 I met my first yt American students (Brad and Dan. Yep!) in Europe, doing a year abroad for their degree. I enquired about the KKK and their terrible US history vs BP. Taken aback that I knew anything at all, they sheepishly said that, well, only a "few cross burnings" had happened of late, staring into my eyes and, obviously, wanting the subject to just disappear. If only they knew how utterly appalling that sounded to me! Of late!! This specific story I had not known and they said nothing of it... That day I became determined to learn as much as possible about world wide Black History

What's even crazier, is that stuff like this still happens, but the stories are always covered up and sugarcoated, with some even manipulated to appear "justified." Guess who's responsible for it? Exactly. Those people are the bane of our existence, and this isn't even coming from a place of hate.

Also he sued the White Power Resistance movement in Oregan whose members brutally attacked and killed a Ethiopian immigrant who was simply just walking down the street. Tom Metzger was the leader of this particular group who called themselves "skin heads". Since they had no money Mr. Dee's got their property as well.

@@PushBlack I've heard of this case. I think the two Klansmen who committed the murder started by putting a rope around Michael Donald's neck, standing on his chest (while he laid on his back on the ground), and pulling on the rope until he choked to death. Then, they slit his throat (why they did that after he was obviously already dead, I don't know), and finally, they hung his body by his neck from a tree. It wasn't just a murder, it was a LYNCHING! Of course, the Ku Klux Klan has been experts on that since the organization had been founded in 1866. Unlike similar cases of Klan-related murder, the guilty ones were brought to justice, not on charges of violating the victim's civil rights (as was done, for example, in the "Mississippi Burning" case back in the 1960s), but on actual first degree murder charges. One of them, "Tiger" Knowles, was sentenced to life imprisonment (perhaps because he was under the age of eighteen at the time of the crime). Before that, he made a full confession to the murder in open court, describing every detail. After this, he looked at his victim's mother, Beulah Mae Donald, who was also in the courtroom, and asked her to forgive him, to which Mrs. Donald replied, "I've already forgiven you." It was such a moving moment, that a lot of people in the courtroom cried, including the lawyers and the judge. Unlike "Tiger" Knowles, his accomplice, Klansman Robert Hays, was given the death penalty. Years later, in 1997, he was executed in the electric chair, thus becoming the first member of the KKK to actually be put to death for killing a black person. I don't know if Mrs. Donald believed in capital punishment or not. A lot of black people are against it, most likely because the majority of those who receive death sentences are black people, who, in turn, are more likely to be poor, and thus are unable to afford good lawyers who are competent enough to make cases in favor of their clients, which means that not only are blacks (as well as poor whites) more likely to receive the death penalty, they're more likely to receive it for crimes they probably didn't commit! Some have argued that capital punishment, like slavery and segregation, is merely another way for "the white man" to keep people of color "in their place," and to maintain "White Supremacy" in the United States, especially in the Southern states. They often cite, as proof, the old laws dealing with rape, mandating the death penalty for black men convicted of raping white women, but also allowing lesser punishments for white men convicted of the same crime (or, occasionally, white men convicted of raping black women). The white people of the South, detractors argue, made such laws because they had a morbid fear of "pure white womanhood" being "defiled" by "black brutes," and decided that white women deserved more "protection" than non-white women. But quite often, this type of racist thinking has led to terrible injustices against perfectly innocent blacks, including the case of the Scottsboro Boys (nine black youths who, in 1931, were accused of raping two white women near Scottsboro, Alabama, and were convicted and sentenced to death, even after one of the "victims" changed her testimony, insisting that neither she nor her friend had been raped at all), the 1923 race riot in the predominantly black town of Rosewood, Florida, which began after a white woman claimed that she had been raped by a black man (many historians now believe that she made up the rape story because she didn't want her husband to find out that she had an argument with her secret lover, a man as white as her and her husband.) This story angered the white people in the area so much, that they went on a rampage, attacking Rosewood, killing every black person they could find, setting the whole town on fire, and finally, driving the blacks away. Rosewood was basically wiped off the face of the earth, and it was soon forgotten, until many decades later, when civil rights advocates rekindled memories of the Rosewood incident, and demanded that the injustice done to the town and its residents be put on record.

Ain’t nothing scarier than a hurt, pissed off moma bear….. She made a difference in her city and made history. Thank God she lived through that. So sad and unfortunate after winning that kind of money, I don’t think she ever got it. Unfortunately the Klan is still around in several other cities and states.I will never forget I had an experience with the KKK in the late 1990’s. I am from Louisiana, my family had went home for the weekend. We stopped in the next town over for snacks. While we were going inside about 4 truckloads of klansmen in their white robes pull into the lot. A few got out and went in, came out with cases of beer for their klan meeting. This is the town they had their meetings in before I was born. I stood there with my mouth open in shock, I had never seen anything like that, I had only heard the stories from my grandmother and other elders growing up. My aunt told us to don’t look at them and hurry and get in the car. I couldn’t move, I had to watch them. No shame, no remorse, just white privelege entitlement. I was shocked, then sad, then pissed at the audacity…I won’t ever forget that vision as long as I live.

While unfortunately hate groups like the KKK can get away with saying a lot of things, there are still ways to get them in trouble with the law and this is a great example of pushing the legal system and the nationwide community to care about you and your cause. She wasn't delusional or crazy for taking on the KKK, she was a mother who had her child taken from her in a horrific way and that kind of pain can lead to incredible determination
