Pure nostalgic bias. I remember 10+ years ago, so many people on KZbin were complaining about how bad mainstream music is, how good bands don't get many views, and how music 10 year prior to that was so good.
@C0ZMICWIZARD2 ай бұрын
@@ireaditnerd8306sure. There’s good music being made today, I’m not denying that. But you can’t tell me the mainstream charts contain bands like they did then. From a recent Richard Osman podcast: In the first half of the 1980s, bands were at number 1 in the UK charts for 147 weeks. In the first half of the 1990s, it was 141 weeks. But in the first five years of this decade? Just three weeks! And one of those weeks was thanks to The Beatles.
@ireaditnerd83062 ай бұрын
@@C0ZMICWIZARD Issue is, people 10-20 years from now will be saying how good the music was during the 2020s. How the 2020s had such amazing artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, etc. Either music really is getting worse decade on decade or it's nostalgia or both. I wouldn't be surprised if people in the future say that the reason songs only last for a couple weeks at number 1 is because there were so many good songs, other songs took over the number 1 spot.

Quality over quantity. They don’t seem to follow that rule either, but a few of them are artistically and cleverly made. God the suspense at the end of the video for “this car drives all by itself,” on top of its toy car premise, was brilliantly executed for that segment of the music. Perfect match for what my synesthesia shows me.

This song was spoiled so hard for me, I literally couldn't listen to it for five years. I worked as a barista at an upscale place, and this hipster girl who's the worst example of the definition, was telling her friends about her trip to New York. And she just had to tell them about New York. "New York is just the best place I've ever been! New York's culture is so fascinating, you really have to act like you're from New York when you're in New York, hahahahaa, I need to go back to New York again, I absolutely looove New York! Catching a taxi in New York was so fun, I reached up, 'Taxiiii!' *falsetto voice*" I am NOT exaggerating. I went to the patio to collect some dishes, and when I came in, she was still saying "New York" at least twice per sentence! When I got to the kitchen, I told the cook about this girl, whom he apparently had a slight crush on. I warned her how annoying she is. Thinking I was exaggerating, he wanted to test it. I told him to walk by the table and get the dishes that are still on the patio. Keeping the door open for 30 seconds so he could walk back in, he returned with a look of disgust on his face. I'm good now, I can listen to this, but no more than once a week. It's progress, but gaaaaaaaah!
