The movie takes place in 1823. The French do not appear in the movie and in real history, the French war took place in 1890. The scene here is a battle between Oyo and Dahomey in 1823. Although the fight portrayed here is fantasy, there really was a real ambush fight where the Dahomey army defeated the Oyo force. Also, Dahomey has actually defeated the French before in 1728 when they destroyed a French fortification under siege.

@@Niani23455 The French for was taken before the introduction of the all-female corps in 1729. this means the only real battle the female corps saw against the French was a landslide victory for the French. No whirly-twirly fremales soldiers kicking ass and leading armies. The conflict between the Dahomey and the Oyo in 1823 was about slave trade dominance. with increasing pressure from the French and British to abolish slave trade, the Dahomey were trying to strengthen their position with the transatlantic slave trade by taking out competitors and enslaving them... History.

most of you lot really need to do your research before commenting, The Dahomey Amazons (Fon: Agojie, Agoji, Mino, or Minon) were a Fon all-female military regiment of the Kingdom of Dahomey (in today's Benin, West Africa) that existed from the 17th century until the late 19th century. They were the only female army in modern history, so before commenting some stupid and uneducated nonsense, maybe learn abit of history!!!

The amount of times the British consulate wrote to the Dahomey king asking him then finally telling him to end slavery and he ignored it until the British fleet shot he shit out of his coastal towns. His women fighters also proved to be very ineffective when losing badly to a small contingent of French soldiers. Black peoples history is every bit as sad as the white mans but without the civilization.

First of all, these are West African kingdoms and empires not tribes. Also, the "swords" they're using here are called the Dahomey Hwi. Other West African swords from this time period were the Akrafena, Ada and Eben. In real history during the Oyo wars as depicted here, the Dahomey army and Amazons used more firearms and cannons than swords.

This is not "wild Africa". These are civilizations called Dahomey and Oyo Empire. I'm not sure about martial arts by Dahomey but martial arts existed in pre colonial Africa such as Engolo, Dambe, Kandeka, Gambian Lutte and Ashanti sword fighting. In the Kingdom of Ndongo during the 1500-1700s, they had a martial arts called Sanguar that enabled them to dodge almost anything from javelins to arrows.

Не лишено любопытства и жизнь женины в окопах на передовой линии боевого соприкосновения без ванной комнаты , душа, маникюра и прочих ништяков да еще и под постоянными обстрелами. А то почему то только в фильмах привыкли показывать.
