Should be noted for new comers that upon original release Kamiya stated that the first play through is a tutorial. Translation: you’re going to stink. You will get mad. You will say how was I suppose to know that? It’s intentional. Kamiya does the same thing in Bayonetta. But rest assured after you beat it all power ups continue into new game+. And trust me you’ll want to play it again again. The ending, that never ends, is mind blowing 🤯

Original review was 7.4 Wii U was under fire from the get go. The game could be played with the touch screen or the sticks on Wii U but the reviewer at the time only used the screen and had alot of trouble with it. I had alot of fun playing it on Wii U. When I played it I was using the sticks pretty quick though. Great platinum game with alot of inventive ideas to mix up the action genre

It's nice to hear a review from someone who obviously took the time required to master the game and its systems, for once. Wonderful 101 is my (second) favorite Wii U game and I'm glad to hear the remaster does it justice, giving it a second chance at life. Now all I need is a Xenoblade X remaster or port on Switch and I can officially retire my Wii U.

I really want a port of that as well. I loved Chronicles X and I thought it was 100 times better than Chronicles 2. But I remember reading from the developer that it would be hard to port the game because of how important the Wii-U touch pad was. Maybe they should just code that as an extra menu?

That's not a coincidence. The developer, Platinum, was co-founded by Hideki Kamiya. He's famous for working on Devil May Cry, Resident Evil 2, Okami, AND Viewtiful Joe when he worked for Capcom. Platinum has worked on Metal Gear Revengence, Bayonetta, Nier: Automata, Astral Chain, and Vanquish to name a few. Action games are their bread and butter.

One of my all time favorite games! It's not perfect by any means. But damn if it isn't a fantastic and fun ride. I can replay this game over and over and over. Biggest gripe people have is the learning curve, and the game doesn't help you out that much to understand its mechanics either. But once you do, oh boy, it becomes the most original and one of the best action games ever!.

I do feel that Multi Unite is prohibitively expensive, especially considering it was a baseline ability out the gate in the original release. Otherwise I feel like the only other issue stems from the fact that I'm playing it on a laptop screen, which while not tiny, still feels a bit cramped when stuff like the picture in picture screen shows up. I particularly wish they had made stuff like the selection of the leaders of your team available via a pause menu, as it's not exactly enjoyable to only be able to customize my team when a stage is ongoing. Still a fantastic experience.

It is... but there IS a big learning curve. I played against one of the earliest bosses as best I could on Normal mode in my second playthrough... and the ranking system STILL gave me the consolation prize... and that's just frustrating. It's best to start with either 'easy' or 'very easy', because even NORMAL is harder than it sounds.

Something great I can say about this is that it runs surprisingly well with low system requirements. I'm able to run it above 50fps normally on a surface pro 4 tablet laptop.

Haven’t played this game, listening to the review and I hear that it’s a bad thing that the game doesn’t tell you what cues to look for when drawing weapons. Finally! A much more deserving score for such a wonderful game (not sorry). I haven't played the remastered version yet, maybe I will, but the only problem I have from what I know so far is the main themes for this game (The Won-Stoppable 100/101 (two songs)) sound better in the original. I will hope to see more blind let's plays of this game on KZbin. I absolutely love watching people's reactions to the amazing finale (minor possible spoiler: MOST EPIC BEAM STRUGGLE EVER!).

I never finished it. It was fun and looked nice, but if felt really frustrating at times and a bit clunky as well. The fact that nothing was properly explained didn’t help. No one talked about it then, and I didn’t think much of it either. Now I’m a bit confused when I see everybody praising it and saying it platinum’s “best game”.
