The Wonderful World of Jetix

Welcome to the (retrospective) world of JETIX!
When I was a kid, I often watched Jetix, which for me, was an action block on Toon Disney. However, when I revisited the brand more than ten years after it vanished, I discovered that it was much more than I once thought. Jetix was a powerhouse that provided action-oriented shows to kids across the globe. While it was home to the popular Power Rangers, it was also a hub for licensed shows and original programming, like PUCCA, Get Ed, and Yin Yang Yo. It was a basic block that co-existed with Toon Disney and ABC Family in the US (and some other countries), but in parts of Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and Latin America, it was an entire channel! Around the world, Jetix was a phenomenon with magazines, games, awards shows, and more. It replaced the Fox Kids brand in foreign markets. Ultimately, Jetix completely vanished after it was replaced by Disney XD.

Hey everyone, thanks again for checking out my video! I hope you were able to learn something from this deep dive because _I certainly did._ The process of putting together this video was quite experiential compared to my normal stuff. Collectively, I spent what ended up as several weeks watching Jetix shows, playing Jetix games, sifting through old broadcasts, and reading anything I could about it. Even though this video was long, I’m sure I left out some details (some intentionally.) It would mean the world to me if you gave this a like and shared it around because I really pushed myself working on this video. I also left open community contributions, so if you’re from a country where English isn’t a common language (and JETIX was around), feel free to add subtitles. I remember when Disney XD was replacing Jetix and they had a whole countdown to the launch of this brand new cool channel, and I remember feeling so sad that Jetix, my cartoon haven, was gonna be gone for good. And I felt that frustration that something I loved was being taken away from me for no apparent reason, and as an 11 yr old who just moved across the country, it felt like my oasis was gone but I found other shows and cartoons and power rangers will never end lets be honest, now I look back at jetix with fond memories of childhood enjoyment, that excitement of getting up early on a Sunday morning to catch the 2 episodes of old power ranger series and finding new show like Get Ed and ying yang yo. SO thank you jetix, for all the joy you've brought to kids around the world

I vividly remember watching the first episodes of Dragon Ball Z on Jetix as a kid. I had to only have been 4 or 5 when it started airing there and I'm really glad I grew up with the channel.

Yeah, although when they changed the name of the channel to Disney XD, they still aired some of the shows that once aired on Jetix, even though they pretty much abandoned the Boomerang/Toonami/Adult Swim/Miguzi blend format that made Jetix so special in favor of more original programming because stuff happened like Saban Productions leasing themselves off of Disney's grasp, taking shows like Power Rangers and Digimon with them. After that happened, many of the shows they still had the right to air, like the classic Marvel shows and certain Anime kept getting pushed further and further up the schedule on Disney XD, until they were sent off into the channel's "find any classic cartoon/Anime/Jetix Show that we still own that we can show reruns of" block at midnight which ran until March 31 2012 when all those shows were replaced by newer programming like Ultimate Spider-Man Fortunately, many of these shows are now on streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ for our entertainment

Eastern European here! Jetix was one of the best cartoon channels we've had! I remember how sad I was when it became Disney Channel instead. Either way, yes, we had Lazytown which was...weird to say the least. But Jetix had such amazing cartoons and the overall feel of the channel was just so nice. In Romania, we've had shows such as SRMTHFG, Galactik Football, W.i.t.c.h, Totally Spies, Oban, Shaman King, Pokemon and so on. At the time I had no clue that there are other versions of Pokemon besides the original, so when Pokemon: Diamond and Pearl, appeared on Jetix, I lost it! I still miss all of those cartoons and just waiting for new episodes

Pfft... please before Jetix there was FOX Kids that was the Original Home of Power Rangers. Not kidding when I say that and not for Nostalgia Factor but that is where Power Rangers originally aired from Mighty Morphin' up to Wild Force until Disney bought the rights when they began airing it on ABC Kids/ABC Family where they have Jetix to be a New Action Block for the Channel Networks. FOX Kids is THE Original Home of Power Rangers.

Setting my feelings aside again because FOX Kids actually promoted Power Rangers & other shows like crazy especially in the Magazine department, not kidding an older brother of mine has FOX Kids Magazines where it has Q&As, Trivias, & Mini-Games of Power Rangers & other shows (like Mystic Knights, Beetleborgs, Godzilla The Animated Series, Marvel 90s Shows, etc.) they legit show how much love n' care they put into those Promotions when it comes to not only Commercials but also Magazines.

For me, as a younger child here in the States, I was upset that Jetix continued to eat up a lot of Toon Disney's channel space every year until it died. I loved the Disney cartoons. But, I loved Jetix on ABC Family. It was shorter. But, I also watched it on Toon Disney. But, i'll tell you this. When Disney XD came around, I was so angry that both Toon Disney and Jetix was gone. I was pissed off then and a part of me still is to this day. Both of them were so great. I'd like to see them both return, but, I'd highly doubt that would ever happen. So sad...

I remember Jetix and shows like Pucca, Power Rangers, and Ying Yang Yo and from what I remember, I feel that it was better than Disney XD because especially in the beginning and still now, Disney XD’s branding is super “boys only! gamers and skater XD!!1!1!” while Jetix was less in your face about that and had shows not necessarily targeted towards just boys or just girls. I think that’s been an issue with Disney since XD is that now Disney Channel “is for girls” and Disney XD is “for boys”. Also! I once saw a video by amandabb explaining a theory how DisneyXD actually was for older girls getting too mature for Disney Channel and so instead of losing them to MTV (Teen Wolf, Awkward, etc.), ABC Family (Secret Life, Pretty Little Liars) or CW (The Vampire Diaries) and the whole teen drama wave of that time, they put all the hot teen guys onto Disney XD so teen girls would watch. (Kickin It, Mighty Med, Pair of Kings, etc)

Jetix, the golden age of television. It had everything i ever wanted: Jackie Chan anime, Sonic X, Yu Gi Oh. Even some forgotten series like Huntik, yin Yang Yo, or high-school shuriken(idk if this is the full name). DisneyXD was great for a while too but not anymore. CartoonNetwork also fell off, while it was my favorite channel back in the day for stuff like Bakugan. Add prime Nickelodeon to the mix and you have wonderland. I legit had at least 12 years worth of entertainment from tv alone.

This was a nostalgic trip for me. I used to live in the Netherlands where Jetix was an entire Chanel. With every show you mentioned I kinda went back to my childhood. I think that Jetix was practically the only thing I watched. I still have some of the magazines that I bought. I also remember the rebranding of Jetix to Disney XD. I didn’t hate Disney XD I watched some shows on there but I haven’t been able to find all the episodes of Pucca or some of the other shows I watched online. I don’t think they should get rid of Disney XD or anything. I just wish they would have all the episodes of the shows from Jetix on Disney+ or somewhere I could find them. With Disney classics you will be able to find them because they are classics. They will be on Disney+, DVDs or a pirating website but the Jetix shows for the most part are hard to find because they weren’t deemed as special I guess to be as accessible online or on full DVDs of each season.

I was more interested in KidsWB (I really want to cry when I hear that name, not gonna lie lol) and watching Kirby, plus Disney's One Saturday Morning which is probably one of my most cherished childhood memories. I'd watch The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh a lot with my mom on Saturday mornings when she had the day off, and if I was visiting dad with my half sister we would usually watch Kirby and Yu-Gi-Oh~ It was a big bummer when they announced the end of Saturday Morning cartoons for sure! It's sad to see the end of an era; waking up, getting a big ol' bowl of cereal, and plopping down to watch cartoons in your jammies~ May or may not include the smell of bacon and pancakes in the air. Oh man, this was such a nostalgia ride. Jetix was its own channel back in Eastern Europe and I seriously woke up early or came back home from playing outside just to catch an episode of Pokemon (yes, this aired on Jetix here). It changing to a bland Disney channel actually made me so sad. Sure, some good cartoons were on the new channel, but they were mixed with so many cringy live action shows with constant laugh tracks that obviously tried to appeal to teens. I was such a Jetix girl back then. In LatAm we took whatever looked like anime and we embraced it. WITCH, Monster Allergy and, specially, Oban Star Racers were my jam. Also, they had some weird Latin American original shorts that scared the shit out of me (but that I still enjoyed them) However, the channel became uninspired in its later days. Just a bunch of Power Rangers reruns and the same content over and over. It was so sad to see it go. Jetix instilled in me a love for animation in general and not only anime. I saw what creators could do without limiting themselves to the usual western tropes.

To be clear, Digimon isn't nor ever was a ripoff of Pokemon. It was a common misconception, but not only did Digimon not base itself off a game but instead Tamagotchi toys, but the show was entirely different, going for a serialized overarching story with more mature themes and even death as opposed to the toy advertisement that was the Pokemon anime (and thats as someone who loves Pokemon).

Yeah, as the pop-up at 7:38 says, that sentiment doesn't represent what I currently think and what I said in the video was just my own experience with it growing up. As kids, many of my friends and I were never properly exposed to Digimon and at surface level, I think it's understandable why people assumed it was a copycat of Pokémon when the two names are super similar and they share some basic characteristics. Most people knew what Pokémon was because of its cultural significance and mainstream notoriety, so to find out that there was a less-popular franchise called "Digimon" perhaps made it more unattractive to kids like me. As an adult and through creators like Billiam, I've learned a lot more about Digimon, and it's clear that it's not a Pokémon clone.

I still talk about Jetix til this day. I was sad when it got replaced and while Disney XD had some bangers I just didn't have the same feeling I had that I had for Jetix. Tv in general kind of sucks now because it's the same reruns with a lack of diversity so I hardly watch TV nowadays. I will give Disney XD it's credit tho for still showing a more diverse cast of shows than CN or Nick as far. As cartoons are concerned

Disney XD in the beginning was trash because it had like 4 shows. Kid VS Kat would be on for so many hours in the morning. Kick Buttowski would be on for so many hours in the afternoon. Just....it was just hard to watch most of the time. I liked Zeke and Luther tho.

@@lalaland2107 I loved Zeke and Luther as well. Today's it's basically Disney's cartoon dumping ground which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it does hurt some of the shows. There are still a variety of shows to watch compared to Nick which shows the loud house a lot. A lot of the live action shows just don't interest me and maybe that's because I'm older. Same with Disney. Their newer live action shows just aren't interesting and they mostly only show bunked. Cartoon network wouldn't be bad if they fixed their scheduling and promos. They have decent shows but only air TTG Gumball and that apple and onion show on the weekdays

When I was growing up as a little boy in central Europe, my family didn't have the necessary equipment to get Jetix, but my friend did. We used to have a blast with the channel and I definitely remember it, even if I didn't think about it for years. This video has awakened a lot of those memories, including the saltiness over Jetix ending.

I would definitely bet on a decent spike in sub if they did. biggest reason not a lot of the jetx specific shows can be found. a few years ago I tried finding dragon booster but all I found were pieces nothing concrete. i also found most of super robot monkey team hyper force go! but I have no idea if it ended on a cliffhanger or if the finals only aired once and no one grabbed it. this reminds me I got to finish oban at some point.... well time to rewatch from the beginning again.

Btw the show does end on a cliffhanger with no actual resolution because it was supposed to get a fifth and final season to wrap up the show but Disney for whatever freaking reason decided not renew it for that final season. No statement was ever given as to why but it’s speculated to be because of low merch sales.

I remember watching Pucca back when I was in my younger years. It's pretty fun to see a little girl chasing that ninja while battling some foes in the series. By the way, maybe you should watch _Pucca: Love Recipe,_ the revival series of the original series, and it's aired on Disney Channel. While the CGI animation did kept the spirit of the original art style, it doesn't have enough charm without the simple Flash animation.
