Manga spines are best when they change color every couple of volumes, or perhaps every arc. also that vagabond mural is amazing holy, i wish more manga would do that
@theskiesahead7953 жыл бұрын
For me, PunPun's spine designs are my favourite. The spines match in a diagonal descending line with an outline of the birdy boy himself. The changing colours is amazing as well

Love to see more appreciation of Goodnight Punpun. One of the best "coming-of-age"/take on childhood to adulthood stories I've come across any medium, period. Inio Asano is also an insanely brave author for tackling taboo subject matters in such brutely honest and intimate fashion. It must be hard to recommend you any new manga to read since you seem to have devoured so much of it. Memories of Emanon, Homunculus, Ultra Heaven, Freesia perhaps are title obscure enough that you haven't come across. As always, enjoying the shit out of your content.

Bro this video is the best. While working on my first BIG cover art project for a manga, I came across this vid. This really helped shed light on the least noticed portion of the cover design--the SPINE! And of course, it should be just as important as the front cover from a shopping perspective. Thank you for your insight!

Love your videos. Also thanks for another manga suggestions for your followers :) I've started to read manga from All You Need Is Kill (mostly because of Edge of Tomorrow), then Dorohedoro (thanks to the anime adaptation, was too curious, how the story will continue), then Fujimoto stories (love all of them) and now I've come to Jigokuraku (Hell's Paradise) - manga from the Fujimoto's assistant, who he worked with on FP. Not sure, if you've heard about it and read it, but it's definitely worth to read :) I hope, that you will find it really good and share some of your thoughts about it in the future.

I love the punpun spine so much, my friend has them all and she was kind enough to let me borrow each one to read. One day i want to have the collection for myself but the 12 japanese volumes of punpun have such fun colorful designs. The only full set of manga I have is Bakuman which has a fairly normal spin dawning a white background with the logo and a different character on what you call the thumbnail.

I saw something shocking in the store the other day and I had to revisit this video to comment about it. Apparently, the spine of Punpun volume 6 being solid black was an error in the first editions, and not a design choice. A new printing has been recently released, and they have the outline restored on volume 6.
