When I'm with my friend group 1, who are mostly DC fanboys, we just go by their in-game name, like Iron Fist, Punisher, Cloak and Dagger, etc. When I'm with my friend group 2, who are past Overwatch fangirls, we call heroes out by their "OW name", like "Banner is out of mech", "McCree just grabbed me im dead", and "HOW DOES GENJI HAVE FOUR DASHES IN A ROW" But when I'm playing with my brothers... well, for context, we were raised by our parents who are absolute Marvelheads, so we just call heroes out by their actual names, like "RICHARDS BEHIND!", "LOOK DOWN SPECTOR'S ANKH!", "uhhh Tyrone just killed both our supports??", and it's actually hilarious when our other teammates are straight up confused when we do that (dw, we only play quickplay so we don't confuse anyone in ranked)

We just go "oh god, hes circumcising our (role)" or "going in for a circumcision" or sing animals by maroon 5. Bucky fluctuates between "bucky", "the buckster", "tentacle boy", and "daddy" (don't ask) or someone just yells "im being bucked" For mr fantastic we just yell "backshots". That's it. I call everyone by their actual character name mainly cuz i have read comics for a large majority of my life and i have a close attachment to comics so i call them their actual name in games or while im talking about them generally like i remember one game on klyntar i went to the enemy spawn to look at their team and said "They have Steve, Peter, Eddie, Sue, Illyanna and Seol" and my team asked who the last two characters were and i had to say luna and magik for them to understand who they were so it get a bit difficult if they are obscure characters but i still do it out of habit i even do this with DC Characters like i will Bruce Clark Diana Ollie etc for them instead of they're Hero Names just a thing i do since i grew up with them like even obscure characters like Sai who is very recent but i still call her that cuz i really liked the comic she came from

For a lot of people who have been reading comics for a while I think it's pretty common to use their real names as often as their super hero names. Some of them have public identities anyway or don't even use one at all, like Mantis, Rocket or Thor. And some never even use their heroic identity Like Peni's official hero alias is SP//DR, the name of the mech she pilots. But nobody calls her that, even the game itself.

Mr. Fantastic- Reed Invisible Woman- Sue Human Torch- Johnny (will also be 'torch') Thing- Ben Punisher- Frank Scarlet Witch- Wanda Dr. Strange- Steven Hawkeye- Clint Wolverine- Logan Iron Man- Tony Venom- Eddie The trend is just what their first name is in the comics because it's what most of the other heroes call them 90% of the time. So the real name is more familiar than the codename even though I know it. Also when Thing -does- come out, it's been a frequent issue for him being called The Thing in the comics, so he definitely prefers Ben, and no one in the FF calls him Thing. So, he'll just be Ben.

Doesn't make it shorter, but I always forget Groot's name in the heat of a fight and call him tree "Literally all of his dialogue is 'I am Groot' dumbass" YOU THINK I DON'T KNOW THAT?
