Went to see this right by myself. It was like giving a big cholcolate valentine to myself and eating it without a hint of guilt. It took a minute to remove my outer cynicism and just flow with it. Hugh Grant really is an oompah loompah. Kudos to the interveiwer.

Obviously, I see Wonka as more whimsical than dark. But I definitely think that Slugworth, Ficklegruber and Prodnose were part of the reason, seeing as they sent spies to the factory to steal Wonka's secret recipes.

He was better than Wilder in this movie tho champ. Wilder is highly overrated fr but looking at it for character: Wilder was at a point in life where he was defeated - mentally Iill! Wanting to cause harm to children and reprimand their parents! Chalamets version is when Wonka was younger and more optimistic and ambitious! It’s a much easier watch Tbr! But yea so sick of al y’all people that claim Wilder was the best version when the damn author absolutely hated it! It’s not all that!! Open ur mind! Goodness gracious!!
