The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The Valenwood forests are unimaginably hostile and complex. Everything about them seems to scream that civilized folk do not belong there. Every aspect of the forests are as if the god ruling them was screaming at you to move aside from its way. But an orc does not move when demanded to by another, even a Divine, just as Malacath didn't. When the wilds of Valenwood told them to move, the Orsimer planted their feet firmly in place, held up their shields, and cried back: "No, *you* move"

I'm relatively excited yet also disappointed that they chose High Rock/Hammerfell as the next locale for Elder Scrolls 6 (if the teaser trailer actually is one of those; it definitely isn't Valenwood).

Keeping it faithful to the lore would be tough. I imagine you would have to have the majority of the map procedurally generated and regenerated after certain time intervals, but keep the general lay of the land and the location of the few settlements static. Also you would have to divide the map into static biomes that determine the kind of foliage and mobs that spawn when the procedural generation happens. And then there would be the Bosmer tree-city things that constantly move throughout the province, which would be tricky to code but really cool hubs for players to come to. It would be really sick but an absolute challenge to code and probably well beyond the abilities of Bethesda’s engine.

Thank you Drew (& FudgeMuppet as a whole). I had no idea of the existence of Wood Orcs before this, despite always starting every game’s first playthrough as a Bosmer. I don’t play ESO, so I haven’t seen all the regions it portrays. I have been so interested in seeing Valenwood, Elsweyr & Black Marsh in the single player games, so I am always happy when ESO footage is used to show me what I am missing. I own the game and Summerset expansion, but never seem to get into MMOs. Thank you for all the wonderful lore & discussions.

My characters I have more in depth names based off real world names and mythology and fantasy and languages that can pertain to their play style. Like the name of my Restoration master character is: Julius Asclepius Marudeamhan, he is an Imperial and as such Julius pertains to Julius Caesar and the Imperial race is based off the Roman Empire in many ways. Asclepius is a god of healing in Roman Mythology. Marudeamhan roughly translates to demon slayer.

I was literally planning on finalizing a Wood Orc playthrough (actually my first Orc playthrough ever) for Skyrim today, and this video has been useful for soldifying some decisions :) Sidenote, it's kind of a meta-commentary on how ostracized Orcs are, that I've been playing since the Oblivion era and this is the first Orc playthrough I've even considered. No, from what I've interpreted that the Falmer were kinda their own thing and Trinimac was a renowned hero in Summerset isle and didn't have much interaction with the outside world until the Chimer left with Veloth.

I dig this idea and kind of do it already... An Orsimer that wears light armor (but a heavy shield), conjures his bow, sword, and spirit wolf (later an atronach). Only reason i change to the other summons is due to limitations on the familiar. I'd love to see more done with the Conjure Familiar spell, say being able to choose from different ones or at least applying perks to it. Alchemy and Restoration (with an emphasis on healing and avoidance of necromancy) are also important. There's more, like Sneak, but those are more based on individual preference.

I dig this idea, and kind of already do something like this...An Orsimer with light armor (but heavy shield) that conjures his bow, sword, and spirit wolf (early levels anyway, later it's a flame atronach). I told some friends a while back i'd like to see more options for Conjure Familiar, with a person being able to choose from different animals, maybe even with different stats and abilities. Alchemy (i don't use poisons, but could see them being incorporated) and Restoration (emphasis on healing and avoidance of necromancy) are also important. There's more, but most of that is personal preferance.

my last/current Skyrim playthrough was a roleplay-heavy run, as a cannibalistic Hircine-worshipping Orsimer Lycan from Valenwood, with a bunch of immersive camping and hunting mods, with very limited fast travel, and I've been writing in-character journal entries every few in-game days, and it's by far the most immersive game I've ever played, and the closest to Tamriel I've ever been. I've yet to play another game that's as engrossing and accessibly customizable, with a rich enough world to allow for such experiences

It’s quite possible, and even likely that “project Greenheart” was the name of an elder scrolls 6 dlc set to take place in valenwood similar to how hammerfell was supposed to be a dlc for Skyrim, however it’s likely that particular idea was scrapped to make elder scrolls 6 in hammerfells case and Dragonborn in Skyrims case. it’s also possible that project greenheart is just the basic doctor scribbles for elder scrolls 7 or 8

Orsimer are undoubtedly my favorite race on Tamriel. No race could come close to the sacrifice and hardship the orcs have endured and still be a surviving people. The Dwemer could not the Falmer were shattered yet orcs will and always remain.

I honestly think it would be cool to give the Wood Orcs a slightly different color of skin than the northern Orcs. Give them a slightly lighter shade of green skin and make them not have tusks to make them unique but other than that still look like orcs

@@troublewakingup I picture wood Orcish communities mostly being found deep in the forest where the canopy is very high and thus having a lot of shade with strongholds having having tree house watchtowers in trees similar to redwoods so that they can have a strategic position up high which makes them harder to detect. Also imagine them having Bosmeri influence in their religion and imagine them venerating an Orcish aspect of Y'ffre since they live in the forest but not having to adhere to the green pact since they also worship Malacath. I can also see a normal Orcish settlement in Valenwood that didn't worship Y'ffre and didn't have the same respect for the forest as the wood Orcish clan which would make for an interesting quest if it lead to conflict (if the game was in Valenwood)

@@troublewakingup I think it would definitely be a good idea for Bethesda to make wood Orcish culture and religion unique to the norther Orcs and expand upon them in a potential Valenwood game. Definitely would be cool to have their own aspect of the forest god (Y'ffre) where they have some sort of forest guardian deal with him where they are guaranteed protection forever by the forest so long as they respect and protect it but don't have the same rules as the Bosmer. As a result they would be very wary of outlanders and not allow anybody to hunt or forage on their lands without service to the clan and the forest in some way (which would give them a questline). Would be cool for them to have more of a focus on light armor and sneak than the northern Orcs so they can ambush foes easily. They should also worship some form of Malacath ofc but maybe have it be like a blend of Malacath and Y'ffre to make them more unique and interesting and give them a more alien feel. Idc what color their skin would be but they should look different from regular Orcs from living in the forest for 7000 years

I wonder what would become of the Dragonborn's soul upon death if they were Argonian: Would it be assimilated by the Hist, or would a dragon soul be too much for them; we know from the case of Durnehviir that dragon souls are different from those of mortals, and can't be destroyed or bound as easily. Would Akatosh get dibs considering it's a Dragon soul? In fact, this question is just as valid for the other races: would a Nord Dragonborn who worships the Nordic pantheon still go to Sovngarde? What about a Dark Elf that worships the Reclamations? Or a Redguard that honors the traditional Yokudan religion? Subject for a future video perhaps? I know you've already done a video about the various Tamrielic afterlives, but what about for an individual like the Dragonborn, who's very nature courts the attention of various types of deities.

In my headcanon if the Last Dragonborn is a race of man they mantle Talos, if they're a race of Mer they become a new God to counter Talos, if they're a beast race they become an honored champion/god king and lead the race to new untold prosperity eventually becoming an actual god that sparks the Dominion purge of beast races.

Realistically if you look at the main story of the game and DLCs you end up with the following most likely choices for TLD's soul. 1) They mantle or become a new God. 2) The dialogue in Sovengarde doesn't change regardless of race suggesting they will go to Sovengarde regardless of race. 3) Dragon Souls are not destroyed in the Lore which suggest perhaps TLD's soul can not be destroyed and therefore trapped on Nirn until the end of the Kalpa. 4) In the Dawnguard DLC you defeat Harkon regardless of being a Vampire or not suggesting TLD could be a Vampire Lord and now Molag Bal has claim to their soul. 5) In the Dragonborn DLC you defeat Mirrak, in order to do this you become champion of Hermaeus Mora suggesting he now has claim to TLD's soul. Of these 5 things I believe number 1 or number 5 are the most likely. With number 5 being in the lead because Bethesda can just write TLD off by placing them in Apocraphia and should they choose to later release TLD from Apocraphia during a great battle perhaps another invasion from Akavair pitting TLD against the Neravirne as the ultimate battle for Nirn leads to its destruction and end of the current Kalpa.
