Carlos was baiting Walter. There’s no way a father would KNOW his brother in law is a pedophile and repeatedly go on and on about how beautiful his daughter is, try to show him pictures (previous scene) and mention how she and her friends dress. Even their first visit, he makes the comment about Walter living right across the street from a grade school. He kept trying to get Walter to say something inappropriate about her so that he could check him.

Why would he ask the girls father that?

Because he likely does have “feelings” for Karla.

Better question should be why the brother-in-law would let Carla dress the way he did. Then comment on her and her friends. He had no right to attack Walter the way he did. He's either repressing his own feelings or he's trying to bait Walter into saying something.

@@joshburns4611 I think Walter sensed that Carlos was attempting to bait him, for whatever reason. He simply spun his bullshit right back in Carlos's face with an almost hilariously grotesque question. The way Carlos violently reacted, and Walter's total lack of surprise, suggests a lot more than we can ever fully know about.

Walter….why would u ask that question to the only member of ur family that is willing to still talk to u 🤦♂️.

He knew he was trying to bait him so he responded in kind

@@Kileik Yeah that's my interpretation as well. Walter is trapped in a misbelief that "surely other mean are attracted to kids too?". He just simply can't believe other people could ever not be. That's why I think the end monologue is so powerful (If I remember it right). He finally comes to the realisation that other people are actually genuinely different to him and that maybe one day he could be different too.

bru did that guy openly admit he has a thing for carla's friends lmao
Should have just said “no, I don’t. I’m not like you.” He didn’t have to get hostile.

Nobody who has a daughter would make such an idiotic, naive comment. Actually, nobody should.
@TheBermudaMan Жыл бұрын
@@dereksteele291 It wasn't idiotic or naive. It was purposeful. Carlos was being suspiciously upfront with all his talk about getting turned on by different women. It's more than possible Carlos was attempting to trick Walter into "giving himself away." But Walter realized what he was up to and turned the tables on him by hinting at Carlos's own hypocrisy. Carlos's immediate snarling rebuke about Walter's "disease" (which isn't the right word for it at all) and his death threat says everything.
