Kevin. Like I said on your facebook post, this little guy lost everything he knew and the person he loved. It’ll take a while to come around but it’ll happen. You did a great thing taking him in and not letting him get sent to a shelter or possibly going to someone who won’t care for him as well as you will. And just know I’m a 51 year old man that was crying when you first left with him. I have a soft spot for dogs. I have two rescues that I’d do anything for.

If he tries to run off it'll be in search of his daddy, These little dogs have tremendous bonds with their Humans and he's going to be missing his daddy for a while. You will have to give him tons of attension and in time He will bond with you and learn what to expect. How old is this little guy anyway?

How adorable! You are a good man! What happened to the girl Yorkie? Or this is 2 different families? He's going to be very attached to you because he was attached to a man. God Bless you all. Hoping for a pretty smooth transition. If I could afford it and had more space in my rig, I would have 6 not just my two. Yorkies are such troopers! Mine are enjoying the desert, but get so excited to see grass and trees! I've got mine taken care of in writing who they go to, if anything happens to me. My little girl is 16 1/2 years old. I will be 74 in August. When she's no longer on this earth, I will enjoy my camp mate's dogs but I won't have another of my own unless God "dumps" one on me. I've had Gerti since she was about 8 weeks old (she was dumped in a river at about 2 weeks and was found by my husband's niece). There is NOTHING I won't do to take care of her. Always been that way and i have had many, many babies, dogs, (cats, and birds) and when I take them, I promise them they won't ever be alone again. If something happens to me before she goes, I have made arrangements with my friend to take her. And gerti loves her and knows her. Dexter will heal over time. When my hubby died, our other dog grieved for close to two months. It took a long time but she was ok. I lost her in 2020 at about age 17. Thank you for helping this little guy. And for being a man of God. ❤

Dexter is blessed to have you and now when or if you loose a member of the Wolfpack, you have a much younger friend to get you through it! He’s going to be a wonderful addition to your family; I can already see it. I have 2 dogs. One is my baby, Koal, whose mama was a purebred beagle and we believe his daddy was a black lab. His daughter, CoCo, had a mama, Cookie, who was a Mt. Feist we couldn’t keep due to her needing a single human not a big family with 4 humans, 2 dogs and a cat. She had one litter of puppies by accident. We had an appointment to have Cookie spayed that following week, but she went into season very early and my husband failed to keep them separated. When I finished cooking and looked for Cookie, she and Koal were already together. Coco is one of the 4 puppies Cookie and Koal had. My husband fell in love with her and she with him. When he was diagnosed with lung cancer, she already knew he was sick and would not leave his side. When he wasn’t up for her being in his lap, she laid at his feet. She protected him until the end. She slept with me the night before he passed. My husband was outside when he passed so she didn’t know right away what was happening. I took both dogs outside to see him before the funeral home came to get him. Koal caught on quickly and sat at my feet. Coco kept sniffing and nudging him to get him to respond. Bless her heart, she simply couldn’t wrap her mind around the fact he was gone. This was around 8 am. Later that day about 3 pm, she was sitting in my son’s lap when all of a sudden she started shaking and couldn’t stop. I believe that’s when she realized he was gone and not coming back. She’s been my shadow ever since, but I know something or should I say someone is missing. I have a new partner and he’s really good to her, but he’s not the dog person my husband was, yet CoCo adores him. I see her looking to him for the response she used to get from her daddy. He’s warmed up to her considerably, but he’s afraid of getting attached. He’s lost several dogs he adored and doesn’t want to go through that again. I pointed out to him not too long ago, it’s too late for worrying about loosing her because he’s already attached whether he admits it or not. I have noticed since he pays more attention to her now. I think they will end up being good pals. She definitely needs a man in her life. She loves me, but I am not her daddy.

Awwwwhhh congratulations on your new beautiful boy! I have been kind of worried about Martini's age. We lost our last baby a female Chihuahua over a year ago due to cancer, she was 12, and we are still working through I suppose the grieving process is what you call it. Hubby would love to get another Baby, but his health is not good and I am so torn, maybe he would do better with another one around to adore, watch, play and walk. But, I just don't know since Hubby needs help with so much now of my time in his failing health. It's a sad situation. But, we both love watching you with your Wolf Pack and has helped us with our lose. You have enough love in your heart for a 4th one and this little Dexter is one lucky boy! Kevin, You have a big heart and a big lap. Dexter will fit in fine, might take a while. He's very confused now. Can you imagine what is going thru his mind? New people, new doggies, new smells. His mom can watch your videos if she wants to check on him. She's very lucky that you came along. Dogs grieve like we do. My dogs were very upset when my husband passed. We had 2 Yorkies years ago and they lived to be almost 14, died of natural causes. There's always room for another heartbeat in the house. They will keep a smile on your face. Take care of yourself. My sincere condolences to Dex and his mom. As far as your pack, you never have to worry we all know their personalities. They will always have your videos with your voice. I just took in a 8 week old in July with my 12 year old Velcro dog and an 11 year old cat who is much like Martini. The first two months were murder. Now 7 months in, she has learn fast. She is submissive and respectful to both. She is smart as a whip and picked up her commands and loves to please me. I honestly only in the last two weeks have decided to keep her. Today she proved her worth. Strangers walked thru my camp here at La Posada South. She let out her first all hell breaking loose bark! Scared the livin day lights out of them and all of us! She was so proud of herself! She is finally protecting her territory. Yup. Being a solo female traveler, she's a keeper for that alone. 😊❤ Dex will find his place. Funny, Martini looked over at him and seem to say, yeah I don't mind. He's actually kinda cute. Ahhh, December love...💞💘

Bless you, Kevin. Little Dexter is going to be living his best life with you as he gets over his grief. We lost our almost 3 year old Husky just 2 weeks ago. She had a bowel obstruction and despite our best efforts, she passed away. We are heart broken and are so thankful we have our little Freddie-dog and Gracie-cat to love us through this hard time. We know we will be opening our hearts and home to a new pup and pray God brings him or her to us when it the best time for both. Out there somewhere is our new fur baby, waiting for us to come along and give it a forever home. We grieve over our lost love, but also know we'll be together again one day and look forward to being reunited. Prayers for Dexter as he settles in and becomes a beloved member of the Woof Pack.

Aww, Dexter is so cute! And tiny ! That is such a sad story. I can imagine the anquish they must have without him. You are such a good person for taking Dexter in. I am missing Journey he's been gone 13 days so far at training school in preparation for traveling around the country. If he gets off his leash he runs away and I'll never catch him. I miss him a lot making me think of getting a second much smaller dog as Journey is 105 lbs of fluffy love. Give the growing pack some scratches from Journey and I. If anything ever happened to you I'd take your pups and give them a good home my friend.

Such a wonderful thing to adopt Dexter. ❤❤There is a rehoming organization for pets of seniors, and terminally, ill people that is based out of Canada. I read the article when I was at the vet on Monday. They are called “My Grandfather‘s Cat“. It was started because she adopted her grandfather‘s cat when he passed. And realized there was a tremendous need to help people with their beloved pets. I haven’t looked, but I would hope that there are more services out there like this in the US and everywhere. I have five cats,and I’m grateful that my children are willing to take them if something happens to me.
