Dank u wel for one more interesting video, dear Nout. I'll have to watch it again later on, and as I'm a very beginner, I'll also make short pauses to read the subtitles and practice the sentences (and also look up the words I don't know yet).

I find your accent much easier to understand than people from the Netherlands. Yours is softer. In the Netherlands the accent is stronger. Not implying one is better than the other, but just making an observation. Afrikaans is my 2nd language and this is closer to Flemish than to Dutch. Its accent is also softer. Toch is used in Afrikaans but spelt tog and can be used when you are annoyed, as in ag tog! Nou moet ek weer die huis skoon maak...

In Afrikaans we also use the toch word but we spell it differently ( tog)

As a Dutchie (specifically North-Brabant), the placement of 'toch' in the examples for the 5th type of usage sound wrong to me. I have never said or heard it said that way, with 'toch' in that position. Instead, I would say: "Hoewel ik het Nederlands een leuke taal vind, vind ik het toch nog altijd moeilijk om de uitspraak goed te doen." "Ook al wil ik graag in België wonen, ik ben toch niet zo overtuigd van het weer." The latter still doesn't sound completely natural to me, and I would personally say it a bit differently. This might just be personal preference however, rather than an actual difference between Dutch and Flemish. Nonetheless, I'd say: "Ook al zou ik graag in België willen wonen, ik ben toch niet zo overtuigd van het weer." I don't know whether I'm right or not in thinking this is a difference between Dutch and Flemish, or that it's less rigid than that and it may just be something that's common in my specific area.

Dank je for observations, as a beginner and one who has always been interested in regional languages and variants too, I think that is something really interesting to learn about.

I live in Groningen and I would say it exactly as you do.

Yes I would say it like that too (also from Noord-Brabant)

There is an even smaller word in Dutch which can create confusion, the legendary "er" 😁 A video about that might be useful. I love your videos btw. I have been living in Belgium and learning Dutch for 5 years and I just discovered them 😉

Do I understand you correctly when you say you have been living in Belgium for 5years and just discovered the word ER??
@fredswanepoel24253 жыл бұрын
Er in Dutch means “ there” for example: Er zijn drie mannen.
@mariadebake54833 жыл бұрын
@@fredswanepoel2425 Actually er is much more than just there
@will79223 жыл бұрын
"Er" are actually two different words, with different origin, meaning, and usage/function.

De bespreking in deze video is heel interessant. By the way, I found a sentence "toch maar goed dat hij is meegegaan", I'm still wondering what "toch" in this context means and why the subcluase "hij is meegegaan" in "perfectum vorm". Appreciated if you could share your comments. Thanks in advance
