Yeah, that rock in a hard place is _hardly_ new. A good friend of mine told me about that type of thing right after he came back from serving in Iraq during Desert Storm. He and his daughter were living in their car. So he decided to get general assistance. But they told him that if he wanted more food stamps, he would have to sell his car because it was worth too much, which was ludicrous. So he kept his car and took fewer food stamps. It worked out for him because he soon got a job and a place to live. But if he had done what they told him to do in order to get more food stamps for him and his daughter, he would have had to take the bus everywhere, which, in this town, is a nightmare-it's the worst bus system in the "civilized" world-and it would have made it that much tougher for him to get a job. So yeah, this isn't a new thing.

They need to bring back the tax rate that FDR instituted for corporations, so they can't then become so powerful that they buy up most of our legislative body. Some of these large corporations are worth more than 85 percent of most countries' listed GDP. That makes those corporations countries unto themselves. And they can influence both foreign and domestic policy. So I believe it's high time we make them "come to heel."
