We would like to share that we are very saddened about what’s happening in the world right now. Our hearts are with the civilians who suddenly had their lives changed completely and are now living in fear instead of living in freedom. We will continue to post our weekly episodes with the intent of entertainment and hopefully making you smile now and then. Let’s all unite and hope for brighter days and a peaceful tomorrow. Stay safe and be kind to each other. Love Ben and MP

I think the world obsesses too much over safety sometimes, but I will admit, this clip did get me a little worried lol. Gloves = bad idea, long sleeves = bad idea, dangling shirt very very close = bad idea. If for whatever reason it gets snagged, which is not an unreasonable thought, what happens next? Does it rip off and everything is ok? nope, going to pull you in... this is why gloves are not advised for use with any kind of reciprocating tool. Your skin may get cut from a tool but you wont get sucked in and twisted around it. Anyways, seems she didnt die so thats good. I work at boeing fabricating aircraft both in metal fabrication and in final assembly as a mechanic and an engineer and I also used to work on a farm where I have broken every safety rule in the book fyi, just for some credibility beyond my armchair.

@@BenJaminLongTime ok.. I worked in machine shops most of my Navy career and was raised on a corn and cattle farm ran old Holland hay bailers as a kid…owned a water well company in SE Virginia also… there’s my real world experience… it’s not always the lack of safety that hurts you, it’s the lack of knowledge of how the machine will hurt or kill you and it doesn’t care ! Especially with millennials. I see it every day with the company I own now, running 45 employees

I love watching the boat getting rebuilt. Just wanted to let you guys know that when you are working on the lathe, you should never reach over the lathe to do anything, like sanding. Your clothes could get spun around the wood piece and break or even rip off your arm, watching the young lady sand made me very nervous. That’s all, keep up the great rebuilding project.

I always laugh to myself when seeing the boat yard and water's edge in these video shots. It looks like the area was hit by a tsunami. There are big boat on dry land, debris floating at the water's edge, and piles of lumber and other formless shapes of unidentifiable stuff covering the ground as far as the eye can see! Even so, there are many magnificent boats slowly rising from this mayhem, and Yaba is the unanimous favorite! I love seeing Yaba as its transformation slowly takes shape. And like Yaba's owners, I can hardly wait to see it sail, once again. Thanks for these video updates!

I'm sure you have so much boat yard b-roll footage - it must be amazing. It's an easy million views in the making and could literally finance a Skill saw big enough to cut through wood without needing to flip it over and cut from the other side as well. Please tell them we love them and would enjoy meeting them and hearing their stories and saving them for posterity. Crazy to see Ben doing the Limbo on a band saw. Wild dude! MP you scared me to DEATH. When you used the lathe you were wearing a loose long sleeve shirt and put your arm over a spinning piece. A few slightly more modern labour and time saving tools than 50/60 years ago but basically hands and eyes and sweat and effort .

Loved all the work done so far the past year. Just remember that a wood ship is a ship that many animals eat. Keep up on the maintenance every day, paint, paint, and more paint. If you do so she will last a long time.. and also, wood shrinks and deforms, retighten all bolts and and spikes annually. Especially if it's a really rainy season then very dry for prolonged periods. If wood is allowed to shrink and expand it won't last long, it's goal is to ultimately rot. That is the cause for all the prevention methods. Love it so far, and I think u two know the investment you have made. Maintain it well..good luck!

Please think about putting a bow thruster in the bow while the boat is out of the water. I sailed a 42 foot for 40 years 13 ton I would have loved to have this item.when docking it makes it so easy for 2 people to dock a boat of that size.

It seems like it would be better to have the aft deck roof extend out over the bulwark's cap-rail to allow rainwater to drip past it into the water below. I know it's easier to just keep the cap-rail varnished, but just hate to see that beautiful new wood get water soaked into it and stain & rot. Maybe if you plan a water catchment system it would let you extend the roof line out. Haven't you already done the benches? I seem to remember the storage spaces being planned for them and being built. Great work on the spindle posts! Yaba's really looking great!

MP, If you wish to inform us about your excellent crew and they do not want to talk on camera. All you need to do is talk to them off camera to get their story and then you can relay their fantastic life to us. You will need to show the recorded story to the induvial involved for approval first. That way their story will get out and your recorded story will include the workers behind the screen. Thank you for the fantastic story that you and Ben have produced and please keep us informed as you progress through this adventured even after you splash (launch). Gil Bailey (Australia)

loving the video s yaba is really starting to take shape , im really looking forward to seeing how she handles under sail , but 25:48 using a lathe wearing gloves huge no no , also you are using a standard wood chisel for turning again unwise , the much larger tool your using for finishing would be better and safer to use tucked under your elbow for roughing out it has a carbide tip that wont go blunt easy , take it easy be careful and keep all your fingers ok
