Huge beyond huge thanks to Ouro, my coop partner for this run; this run was an absolute blast and would not have happened without his help. Also want to thank Phant, our host, Kasa, KitKatKawaii and RPPriya, our couch members for being there and you for watching. Also this was WR for the category at the time of uploading; there's no delineation between 1p2c and 2p2c coop (impossible to enforce) and the previous WR was 3:13:13 by Punchy. If you're wondering why neither of us seemed excited; I never thought we were even on remotely close pace and the timer was on a monitor out of the way and we couldn't see it. We didn't know until the incentive was about to begin at which point, I was incredibly nervous since I'd failed the incentive in our back stage prep run.

What is the reason for not being able to enforce a 1 player coop vs a 2 player coop? Also wanted to say amazing freaking run, makes me more interested on the switch version by a country mile
@GhoulSRL4 жыл бұрын
@@jexusdomel5194 Objectively, how could you tell? Do you require a controller camera for every player? Which adds another barrier to entry for a small community on top of being uncomfortable for some players. Theoretical perfect play should look relatively close even when it is an advantage to have a second player. Even then, how do you confirm the second controller is actually there if the game feed is out of sync. Because it's logistically impossible to enforce in a fair way, so by ruleset, coop 1p2c is identical to "true" coop although it's pretty easy to note which runs are which.

I honestly think we'd be more likely to see Solo Remix (Android) from a phone or tablet, even though anyone that would submit a proposal for the DS version likely already has the necessary hardware modifications on their DS or 3DS to display it on the screen. (Plus, we'd finally see good play of Shiki's Fusion minigame. You really need touch to do that one right.)

Hey, thanks for giving me a shoutout at the 2h5m mark! I put off TWEWY for a bit and didn't even realize you two and Punchi had run the game recently at speedrun events. (Is it too late to donate? I would've!) I still have my reworked DS run on tap, so hopefully I can show something in August! Final Remix is faster and prettier, but like you said, the FR setups are all about just maximizing the ATK stat. In DS, puck abilities matter more, so it has that satisfying feeling when everything clicks and you're smashing the noise at a pace you didn't think was ever possible. Some ideas from the FR run have been incorporated my reworked DS run, such as getting the King Pendant for Beat. (That whopping +16 ATK ends up saving more time than Naraka's +0.5X starting puck.) Could it beat the current WR? We'll see!

My commentary, just watching through this run. Please note that I have NOT played A New Day, and have only played Final Remix through W1D2. I have gotten through the DS version, but not 100%; I did get Secret Report 21, however, in Solo Remix. 1:20:40: In Solo Remix (iOS/Android), neither Neku nor the Partner does full damage to Taboo Noise normally. However, CC (Chain Combo) hits inflict full damage. It becomes critical to be hitting enemies using both Neku and your Partner simultaneously. It was always a good idea, because CC hits do extra damage in the first place, but you'll be taking five to ten times as long in Taboo Noise fights if you can't CC effectively. 1:21:45: Oh god. Square Enix had such a perfect opportunity to make the controls so completely amazing for this version of TWEWY... and they can't even do Tin Pin/Marble Slash* right. Seriously, they could have done it so right so easily: Move then release the analog stick to flick your pin. (Plus the old method for people that don't like the analog stick.) 1:24:10: BUT! Unfortunately for her, the Conductor, the Composer, and the Producer are all cheating cheaters who cheat. Cheaters. 1:28:44: Beat fights can be ended early by doing enough damage to him, but you're not going to be able to do that until well into post-game. You're probably getting ready for Panthera Cantus or the Final Boss Rush by the time you can. 1:38:46: Regarding the numbers game, Pin Efficiency is a hidden stat that is one of the last steps for determining damage, and it basically means that high ATK numbers on inefficient pins will basically do squat compared to only slightly low ATK on a very efficient pin. It ends up that you'll basically use your low-efficiency pins as combo linkers instead of damage dealers, even if they've got a massive ATK value, if you're in full control of your gameplay style. (Very very few of us are.) 1:40:40: 50% damage for the lowest-ranked brand, 100% damage for 4th-12th, 120% for 3rd, 150% for 2nd, and 200% for the top brand. If anyone's thinking, "But aren't there only twelve signs in the Zodiac?" Well, the thirteenth brand is CAT, representing the cat, as per one tale regarding how the East Asian Zodiac came to be. (Want to know more? Watch or read Fruits Basket.) 1:48:10: Right. Well, that's a 4chan user. Kidding, kidding. I'm just saying that because the second verse of "Three Minutes Clapping" includes the line "It's like a 2ch [Two Channel], where people just throw their anger, forget about those foul actions." 4chan is a largely horrible place on the internet, an almost-unmoderated message board. Its inspiration? 2ch, pronounced either "Two Channel" or "Futaba Channel", a Japanese message board with pretty much the same rules. (You think Reddit's bad? 2ch and 4chan make Reddit look like paradise.) 1:49:40: Minamimoto-sama is reciting the value of pi. He's been doing stuff like this all week, and he'll keep doing it until he finally gets crunched. 1:50:55: Or are we? (Actually, yeah. There's some extra stuff, but yeah. Spoiler.) 1:54:28: Ouro is referring to the first time you go to the Statue of Hachiko, in Week 1 Day 1. You can see Joshua in this run at 4:40. He still shows up at that point in post-game, where you can revisit earlier days in the story. 1:55:16: SOS (what Ghoul is calling Peril Health), in the original DS version is NOT NECESSARILY 50% health. Each character has their own HP bar, and their own Max HP. Once EITHER you or your partner's HP is fully depleted, you go into SOS. If the one out of HP takes additional damage, it's taken from the inside point of the other character's HP bar. Sacrifice in the DS version starts and starts Neku's health at 0, while clothing that have "Jinxed" abilities do this for whichever character is wearing it. (Note: like in a fighting game, if your HP is AT EXACTLY 0, you're not dead yet, Fred. Going below 0, even to -1, is what kills you.) SOS state in Solo Remix is the same as Final Remix, being at 25% or less. Sacrifice and Jinxed clothing start your HP at 25% in these versions. (In item descriptions, Sacrifice and Jinxed state that they place you "in mortal peril," in red keyword text, hence what Ghoul calls SOS status.) 1:56:18: "Except Pictochat." Almost true. The original and Solo Remix have a third kind of PP, "Mingle PP." You can gain this in both versions by connecting with other players using Local Wireless on the DS, and you used to be able to do it with Bluetooth on Solo Remix. (On Solo Remix, now the only way is to play single-player Tin Pin Slammer.) On the original version, you got points for detecting any DS Local Wireless connection, including Pictochat. You got more points by detecting fellow TWEWY players, which also allowed you to buy a set of pins that they selected for Mingle Mode, so that was preferable, but Pictochat worked fine, as well as Nintendo Channel demo downloads when that was still online. 2:00:50: You mean you didn't try that before?!? 2:01:14: It's a bit more than that, Lollipop. 2:05:57: The riceball was introduced after the Android release of Solo Remix, along with a few other helpers that hadn't previously existed (100,000 Yen pin, anyone?) and a few CDs of song mixes introduced in Solo Remix. Kinda F'd up of Square Enix to do paid DLC for a game that's probably in the top 5 most expensive (non-F2P) games throughout the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. (US$17.99 on Google Play Store.) The Reaper girl that runs the microtransaction shop was introduced in Live Remix, a now-defunct Japanese cellphone F2P game. 2:08:39: "Ugh, pass!" Pretty much everyone hates the taste of medicine in this game. These reactions matter, by the way. Eating food increases Sync Rate, which has different effects depending on whether you're playing the DS version or a Unity** version (Solo or Final). On the DS, Sync Rate affects how long the Light Puck lasts on-screen, while in Unity versions, it is instead your super meter, going up to 300%. Natural sync rate (outside of battle) peaks at 100%, but can be boosted at the beginning of battle in the Unity versions using gear that, in the DS version, would increase your Fusion Stars instead. (Fusion Stars are the super meter in the DS version.) 2:12:40: Remember that earlier spoiler that I mentioned? Yeah, no, repeat spoiler. It was Jesus. (Or rather Jehovah, depending on how you want to view the game's obvious parallel to the Holy Trinity of Christianity.) The reason why Pi-face doesn't deny killing 'Phones is because the kid is, in Sho's mind, just too insignificant to bother with. 2:14:35: On touchscreen, For Joshua's Level 3 Fusion, a good player should get a multiplier of AT LEAST 5.5x. If it were me, playing Solo Remix, that 4.8x would be a downright embarrassment. But, you know, Joy-Cons. 4.8x seems to be pretty good. 2:15:07: Hey, it's pi again! 2:22:38: Since Ghoul cut off, I'll pick up: ...But that isn't REALLY what it does. You'll see what it really does later, in the middle of the week. Damn you, Kitaniji. 2:34:40: Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh uh-huh uh-huh! 2:38:13: For me, it's "Deja Vu." It always has been, since I first played the DS version. Note about that: a few places where lyrics sites (and the GameFAQs Lyrics FAQ) says the lyric is "photograph," the actual word said is "kodagraph." (The 'k' sound is extremely noticeable at the beginning.) A Kodagraph machine was a special kind of photographic film camera by Kodak, designed for taking images of documents. ( www.govdeals.com/?fa=Main.Item&itemid=149&acctid=5036 as my source and an example.) Not a clue why kodagraph specifically, but that's the word that was said. 2:39:25: If you've noticed that sometimes a sword (or vortex) icon would show up next to the damage number, along with a possible color change, that's the game's Element system. There are two elements, or rather polarities, Positive and Negative. Positive polarity is associated with physical attacks, such as Vulcan Uppercut on Murasame or Shockwave on Masamune, while Negative polarity is associated with most, but not all, projectile attacks, such as Burst Rounds on Tin Pin Custom or Piercing Pillar on Ice Risers. A polarity resistance of 100% is normal damage, a lower percent (0% to 99%) takes bonus damage (noted by yellow damage text with the polarity symbol), and a higher percent (from 101% to 199%) takes reduced damage (normal white text, but with a polarity symbol). 200% resistance is a special case: they ABSORB the attack. That is, they take 100% of the damage... as healing. (This is shown with green text and the polarity symbol.) Yeah. 3:01:52: It's a game of Shadow Tag. If you're in Konishi's shadow, you deal damage to her. If she's in YOUR shadow, however, you're the one taking damage. 3:06:07: Ok, remember Ghoul talking about Efficiency earlier? Remember me talking about it earlier? Lightning Rook's efficiency sucks. 55%. But it has so much ATK, and does so many hits, that it doesn't actually matter much. It's still just that good. If it's your first time playing though the game, you'll want to play through W3D7 at least twice to pick up a second Lightning Rook and put both in your deck. Well, that or you'll pick up Thunder Rook from Easy-difficulty Taboo Noise fights in Week 3, and evolve them using SDPP into Lightning Rooks. *Marble Slash is the Japanese name of Tin Pin Slammer. It's also the reason why the song that plays is called "Slash and Slash." **Solo Remix and Final Remix are made using the Unity toolkit (unity3d.com), and contain virtually zero code taken directly from the original game (script is not code), which was most likely programmed in C or C++, while Unity uses C# (or back when Solo Remix was released, Javascript and Boo as well) for code and script.

Ghoul02 is very knowledgeable and talented at doing this run. And it's cool how he's knowledgeable about the DS run as well. Ouro focused well and rallied. It's tough under the intense lighting! Thanks for letting me sit on the couch and chat with Twitch chat. Congrats on WR! I still don't know how WR happened with the money hang up and drink mix up...there was picking already picked options sometimes too. Not a criticism: easy mistakes to make (I've made them), just pointing out what happened. Maybe it's WR because it's hard for people to be in a position to do a co-op run? Or most probable is the skill you both have. Also my apologies to KitKatKawaii for not giving her a warning tap for me using her mic. ^_^; Thanks for sharing it with me. I did do the DS run before I ran this one; I never grinded for a good time because it hurts my hands to play the DS version for 5 hours, which I can't say for pretty much any other game. Can't help but wonder, though, how Ghoul mispronounces so many names (and I'm still on Day 3), when the names he gets wrong have their pronunciations shown in the text. Examples: 104 Building and 777. He pronounces each of those one number at a time. But the game gives them as "Ten-Four" and "Triple Seven."
