Ya’Dad The only problem with that is you are buying something off the internet. If you are really serious about it you wouldn’t make a transaction that could be so easily traced. Even though you’re paying in cash, you still have to contact the seller through E-mail or message or otherwise. Maybe you should listen to your last step and REALLY think of the consequences. People who do it for real shouldn’t have any. That is, unless they slip up or do something stupid.
@f-35alightningii794 жыл бұрын
Ya’Dad You’re not getting it, are you? You use a VPN, once that goes federal, it’s not going to do you any good. As for a fake E-mail and identity, you aren’t anything special, meaning you aren’t anything difficult. Drug dealers and kingpins have fake everything. Fake phones numbers, E-mails, identities, everything. Hell, most bosses aren’t even connected to any real crimes, that’s why they got to get them on stuff like tax evasion because money laundering isn’t clean and doesn’t add up once they audit you. Point is, if you want to get away with anything meaningful you don’t want a paper trail and you especially don’t want an internet trail. Pay in cash and get change at a physical store that isn’t a chain. Something like a pawn shop. You’re gonna get on camera but that’s about it. Chances are, that store clerk doesn’t know the difference between a good fake and a real bill, at least no more than the craigslist guys you’re gonna meet with. The objective is to have no conclusive evidence that that counterfeit is yours, something they can’t do if you don’t leave fingerprints, DON’T GET RECORDED SAYING ANYTHING, buy at a retailer who has a lot of cash inflow and outflow, and cover your tracks. So why use the internet? Even with a fake whatever there’s still gonna be a transcript of things you said and an ip marking your location, name, and computer, so why risk it? Now saying all that, the best plan is to not counterfeit in general.

Less likely to get sued. By the poor. Less likely to be chastised by local prosecutors. Less likely defending attorneys will complain. Though if they are chastised its not like a producer or contributor is going to be forthcoming with such info. Plus it is a profession that has quite a bit of sick to it. Think about it they profit off of the pain of others. A duality of important exposure mixed with the sheer fact the poor get to suffer and justice can be dark and not fullfilled because the best interests of those involved are not those of the journalist. I got to find out little truths and bits of journalistic evil when The Boston Globe decided to out do themselves about the abuse of children beyond their attempts and efforts to stymie, cover up and not report the molestation of children by the Catholic Church and others involved. The Globe like many media outlets continue this to this day.

Actually the worlds best counterfeiter for US dollars was a Canadian dude named Frank Bourassa. He had it down to a science, from the composition of the paper, the ink formula and an old school printing press. He was so good that even banks or government couldn't tell the difference because he was effectively printing "real" money. He was caught and instead of jail time he was recruited to help detect counterfeits and make the real money harder to reproduce.

I've been to Peru twice. Both times I was told that counterfeited Peruvian currency was common. In fact, the day after I arrived for my second visit, the place I was staying was passed a counterfeit fifty-sol note. They showed it to me and it looked pretty poor; it was easily spotted. It definitely was not done by a serious outfit. Contrast that with a lifetime of US residency and never having seen a counterfeit note in circulation or even heard of a friend being given one. Perhaps they're so good that we didn't even know but I suspect it's less common here than in Peru.

Here's something that I don't understand: If newer bills are harder to counterfeit, why don't counterfeiters just print old bills? Just print them and weather them. There is still plenty of older $100s and $20s in circulation. I just got an old school hundred a couple weeks ago. My kids never saw an old one before, neither did the cashier at Target. Regardless she showed it to her manager. The manager said it was all good and didn't even run the pen over it. BTW, Vice fucked over Mario hardcore. There is no way he is still alive. His family is probably dead too.

You would be surprised at how ridiculous some of those fake bills looked. The cashiers would still take them. I think some knew.
@jameskirk3 Жыл бұрын
That's the best way to get rid of counterfeit money, use a cashier that is paid off to accept it with no questions. Buy cheap items with big bills and get most of the face value back in change. Good chance it won't be caught until it goes to the bank and goes through the bill counter there. Same thing people who steal or duplicate credit cards do. Use a friendly cashier who won't ask for ID. They already know it's a fake card and allow the purchase to go through, and won't report or try to detain you if it's burnt.

TheRealNoodles The federal reserve prints money. The federal reserve, while technically a bank, would never be referred to as “bankers” as if they were some elite social class. The fed is the government. There is some separation, yes, but anyone who compares “bankers” as a group to the federal reserve clearly has zero idea what they are taking about. Furthermore, this comment seems to follow the “just print more money” logic, and it appears as though they are insinuating that if poor people could just print themselves some money they would be fine. Anyone who got through elementary school can explain to you why this isn’t true.
@therealnoodles76385 жыл бұрын
@@yeetusvanitas9800 well duh, of course they do. It is the bank of the Treasury.cThey don't technically "print". They type numbers on a keyboard. Banks *do* create money out of thin air. When they create loans, they deposit the money in the bank account. Money that was created by pressing numbers on a keyboard. Loans create deposits. Not the other way around. This is a *fiat* system. Not a *gold* standard. Obviously, you've never seen the operation of a bank. And no i'm not saying every person should print. I'm saying the government can move every idle resource that it needs whenever it needs to, by creating dollars out of thin air. It is like the oil (lubricant) to a machine, you put too much, the machine overheats (inflation). You don't put enough, the machine struggles(recession).

+James Omahony He was selling counterfeit money to a popular documentary filmmaker who did nothing to hide his face, I think that is on the seller. Also I can show you the difference between how a source and the subject of an investigation are to be treated as far as journalistic standards, vice did nothing wrong here, in fact I bet they didn't even know about this story until Mr. Lucena sold them the rights.
@Celtic_Iron8 жыл бұрын
opusdaylo How can it be on the seller when he was totally unaware he was being filmed. The minute Vice touched the content it should be subject to the standards that are expected of a non-biased company like Vice. Look you can argue with me all you want but the reality is that the man provided them with content for their documentary without even being aware of it. The least they could do is protect his identity. They implications of showing his face are life changing for the seller.
