I agree with you wholeheartedly. I participated in several zoom meetings, watched and read a lot about the Synod, but no one shared my interest. I spend much time and effort on the questionnaire, but it was all wasted effort. No wonder why so many people, especially women, have left the Church. As far as I am aware, the Catholic Church does consider that the Eastern Orthodox Churches have valid Orders and a valid Eucharist. As such, apart from the formal difference of opinion over the Creed (filoque) and the position of the Bishop of Rome in the Church, the Eastern Orthodox Churches are considered by the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church to be places where the sacramental life of the Faith may be lived in full. Now, if the Eastern Orthodox Churches are considered so sound, why is it that they are content to rely upon the doctrinal definitions of the first Seven Ecumenical Councils of the Church? Why do they not see the need to have another fourteen Ecumenical Councils, dozens of Synods and hundreds of Papal Encyclicals? It does pose the question “could the Faith survive intact without all of this endless round of meetings, Councils, Synods Encyclicals?” The Faith appears to survive, more or less intact, in the Eastern Orthodox Churches, without any of this paraphernalia. As far as this present Synod is concerned, everyone knows exactly what it is about. It professes to be a Synod to expand the missionary zeal of the Church. We know that this is not the case. We all know that the Synod has been called to begin the process of breaking down barriers, to permit the Church to formally approve of homosexual relationships and female Clergy. Because of the profound dishonesty at the very centre of the Church, there is no openness or honesty about what it intended. Just millions of millions spent on running the Synod, hundreds of thousands of hours of time spent in endless discussion, all to produce what is simple enough to produce if it were to be done openly and honestly - a simple statement by the Pope that, just as (he asserts) the Church made a mistake in approving of the death penalty for two thousand years, it also got it quite wrong when it comes to the question of homosexual relationships, female Clergy and the right to divorce and remarry. Just sweep away the Catholic Faith and replace it with a popular set of beliefs - as the Church of England has done. At least the Church of England has been open and honest - they acknowledge that they have abandoned the Faith in the interests of courting popularity.

@Mark3ABE You are incorrect in saying that the Eastern Orthodox don't have valid orders. The Catholic Church recognizes their Sacraments as valid but not licit. Validity has to do with Apostolic succession of their bishops. Their bishops are valid because one can trace the ordination back to the Apostles. Liceity has to do with whether or not authority has been granted to ordain others. So, the Eastern Orthodox bishops, priests and ,deacons all have valid Holy Orders but not licit ones.

I think in discussions such as this, there is a definite demonic intervention which prevents a person from actually having the ability to even understand what is clearly said, in black and white. Again and again in discussions such as this I have seen people make assertions which are not only patently untrue, but which are demonstrably patently untrue, but, while, of course well intentioned and sincere, they are not able to prevent themselves from acting in such a fashion.

The Francis papacy is a sliver of time in the long history of the Church. The Church's timeframe is in terms of centuries and of eternity. We cannot say that the Francis papacy will influence the Church's teachings in perpetuity. Francis's agenda mark him as a creature of his time/our time since he speaks so much to the issues of the day. A hundred years from now may be a better perspective on the influence of the Francis period on the Church - assuming people still remember who he was. As a Catholic, I am troubled. I am afraid. But popes come and go. it is the Church that Christ left behind that bears His promises. He will not abandon it. I differ with you. It is His Church. When He said "I will be with you always till the end of the age", I believe Him. The Bride of Christ is inseparable from Christ and no puny man can cast it asunder. The Bride of Christ cannot become the Whore of Babylon. At the end of the day, it is Christ's Church. That is despite the long line of broken men who take turns being his steward through the centuries. By prayer and supplication, by orthodox Catholics making our presence felt in the Church and by the grace of God, we will be okay.

When a priest elevates the Host and says, "This is my body" he is not saying that the Host is HIS body---because he is NOT Christ. He is merely repeating Our Lord's words that the Host is the body of Christ. A priest does not become Christ at the consecration nor literally stand in the person of Christ as he is not divine like Christ. He is repeating the words of Christ. A woman can do the same thing. The focus should be on Christ in the Host and not on the individual performing a function. The Holy Spirit performs the miracle and the priest is an instrument thru which the function is performed. The same thing in Confession. The priest himself does not forgive sin but is the earthly instrument thru which God forgives sin.

For if it is indeed the Holy Spirit who inspires and guides the Cardinals in their choice of the Pope, then rather than challenging his decisions, your duty is to pray for the wisdom and discernment to comprehend the Pope's actions. It is crucial that we learn to support the one chosen by the Holy Spirit. Otherwise, you position yourselves in opposition to the Holy Spirit’s will. And what does that suggest about your faith and commitment? I pray that the Holy Spirit enlightens you, guiding you to embrace efforts that foster unity. It’s really an us vs them - adversarial , hostile , ‘ how dare they ‘ position - as a returning Catholic the general tone of this discussion leaves me disappointed and very sad . @@geoffjs Who has granted anyone the authority to pass judgment on the chosen representative of Christ on Earth? Such behavior is utterly unacceptable. Criticizing the Pope is tantamount to criticizing Christ Himself. Do you not comprehend the sacred purpose and meticulous process by which the Pope is elected? It is the duty of every devout Catholic to respect the Pope above all. If there is any counsel the Pope should hear, it certainly does not come from anyone outside the College of Cardinals or those who regularly consult with him. Matters concerning the Pope must be discussed privately, within the confines of the Vatican, by those duly appointed to do so. When individuals, driven by self-righteousness, engage in public criticism of the Pope, they inflict harm upon the Church. They tarnish the dignity of Christ's Bride ~ the Church itself. Can you grasp the gravity of this? Can you understand that by perpetuating such division, we are driving people away from the Church? It must stop. This is not merely about the person of the Pope; it concerns the sanctity of the entire Church. The Pope has qualified advisors with whom he can deliberate, yet the final decision rests with him alone. He holds the authority, an authority he did not seek but was chosen to bear. Perhaps some harbor prejudice because he does not fit their image of a "typical" Pope, but that is irrelevant. It is imperative that we respect each and every one of our chosen Popes, without exception. Let this be understood: Full stop 🛑

@@zxcasdqwe12 Once again, this demonstrates a clear ignorance of the facts. The Synod is a project conceived and initiated by the Pope himself. As the representative of Christ on Earth, we must trust that the Pope’s decisions are guided by the Holy Spirit and should therefore be accepted with reverence and faith.
