Being a doctor working in Istanbul, I completely agree that some hospitals and clinics are putting the patients lives in danger and not most clinics are legitimate. Being in this field of work I have been guiding patients to the most trusted and liable clinics and hospitals for all kind of treatments. You may write to me if you need any sort of medical related guidance. thanks for this eye opening video, finally some one cares.

Generalization is dangerous. Many surgeons trained in the UK couldn’t cut a steak decently let alone know where the steak is. Essentially, you are saying Western European nations produce and have the best surgeons - a self serving, racist comment.

I have been to many clinics (dentist, pediatric, etc.) in South Korea. Everything is new, latest technology, hardly any wait time, and cheap. Several years ago were visiting there when our 2yo got sick. We didn't have Korean insurance. The clinic apologized that we would have to pay full price for the visit.....$12. I told them I felt like they were paying me instead.

How do they stay open charging so little? My family runs a cash only psychiatry practice in the US, and anything less than $250 for an initial evaluation we would be struggling.

You’re right about Prince Court. I’m a fellow Malaysian and my dad had to spend a week there and his room overlooked the twin towers . 😅 our private hospitals are great here (compared to the UK and Australia as I’ve worked in hospitals in both countries ). The level of care is amazing here. I would also recommend Pantai Bangsar (they have a few but the Bangsar one is the best)

Thank you for doing one on medical tourism. I was waiting for one. I would add. Theres also drugs in other countries that are not found in the US. For example a revolutionary lung cancer drug from Cuba (it was aired on public television PBS on the US). They say it may be the first effective lung cancer drug in the world according to the PBS documentary. China has a first of its kind gene therapy drug ("Gendicine") for throat and head cancer. If your throat cancer is genetic. France has ru48 which is ban in the US (If I'm correct). (Note. Wikipedia has a topic on "List Of Withdrawn Drugs" thats interesting). So there are things out there you might not be aware of. It could save your life one day.

Anywhere in Thailand, really. Private Hospitals within Thailand are always top notch, though, many Thais can't access them, sure they are considerably cheaper to foreigners, but. To Thais, it is not. Many stuck with Free Healthcare, only those of the middle class or higher are able to pay for it. I have experiences with both. Governmental Hospitals are often times got overflowed with male patients. Women don't get sick as much for some reason. Most men i saw back when i goes to a government hospital to visit my family members were ridden with either alchololism related disease or smoking related. These are a very major problem in Thailand. It's no surprise really, the "lhao khao" is just too strong.

FYI, many of these doctors who work in these hospitals have actually done a US residency program and are US board certified. There reason why is that many doctors after medical school go to the US to do their residencies in the hopes of being able to stay and change their visa status. They want to stay in the US of course because US doctors are the highest paid in the world. However, more often than not they can't stay in the US so they have to return to their home countries. As a result they end up working in their home country's most prestigious hospitals and clinics. BTW I was a Physician Recruiter in the US for 3 years before I permanently moved abroad.....

I'm not sure how much more qualified this MTQUA organization is to rate hospitals than the Joint Commission, which has been rating hospitals for 70 years. Is Samitivej really superior to Bumrungrad or Bangkok Heart? I had hernia surgery in Costa Rica at Cima, a certified hospital, with a US-trained surgeon who consulted by Skype prior to my arrival. His and the Hospital's prices were posted up front, and my bill actually turned out somewhat less that predicted. I've had physicals done when passing through Bangkok at Bumrungrad, and as far as facilities go it would be hard to beat. But flying to Thailand from the US for my outpatient procedure didn't make sense.

From my experience public care just takes too long, u might spend the night there just to get a doctor to see u in the emergency room. My experience with private care is they don't really wanna be competitive, they just wanna suck as much money from u as they can, stuff like misdiagnosis or making u do procedures u don't really need just to get u to pay. It's great for Brazilian politicians & supreme court justices, but for a foreigner, they try to charge you more than the USA & Europe combined & they want dollars even though in Brazil all prices, by law, must be displayed and quoted in reais. Been there, done that with a friend. They had NO idea I understood Portuguese, especially when the attending physician said to the others: "Vamos passar um cerol nesses gringos trouxas aqui. Eles vão pagar pra nosso iate". We told them we'll go prepare the wire-transfers & we'll be right back. They are still waiting :) - We grabbed a flight from GRU to EZE & went to see a colleague mine in Buenos Aires who is a physician. Never again! Same as with anything in Brazil. Ask for the price of an umbrella that is R$20 and the "vendedor de rua" tries to charge us US$50. FFS.... I don't know why they do it, but it is ubiquitous. Really disconcerting. It's a beautiful country. I get sad every time I think about it. Oh well, c'est la vie

@Andrew Almada - if all you worry about is your boy being circumcised, then you have nothing to worry about. I live in the USA and so do my brother and his wife. Their boy is not circumcised because they didn't give consent to this procedure. The previous person was correct - you have to authorize the hospital to proceed, otherwise, they cannot perform it.

India has some of the best doctors and best values.

This 'overall best hospital' isn't too usefull. You might want to get more specific. For example what are the best places to e.g. get tooth implants, or a cataract surgery, etc., all the stuff older people, who have the cash to pay for it, actually need. I got two PCNL's in the Philippines by the same doctor (who I researched before, educated in South Korea), one in a horrible government hospital, one in a very good private hospital, price roughly the same.

Yikes. This is not a good list. Hospitals for regular care (younger folk, regular checks, simple procedures) is very different than for serious care. Best way is check who is in the medical network for premium international health insurance. They measure quality vs cost.

Why is it that American hospitals & some of the doctors don't really do their jobs any more? Is this just laziness or something more reveling or revolting?
@aahsimovieprojects

American doctors do good work for people with good insurance/who can afford to pay. They're buried in student loans and understandably trying to make money. No such thing as cheap and quality medical care in the US. It is what it is.

Clemenceau? I am dubious about any list with this on top, no disrespect to all the others on the list. There are many fine hospitals on Earth. Many doctors (the ones people want to see) in Lebanon are Lebanese-Americans fresh off the boat from California, botoxing the Real Housewives of Beirut. But no way anyone should fly to Clemenceau for a procedure (unless they are maybe in Syria, but even then just get yourself to Israel). Pick a hospital in a country where the power is always on. Anywhere you directly pay for the service called healthcare you will get better service and pricing than a place where it is third party paid and regarded as an entitlement. FWIW my rich Lebanese relatives always fly to the Cleveland Clinic, version 1.0.

If you're in need of a transplant China's your place. I escorted a South Korean friend over there and 6 hours after arrival someone with her exact liver specs had died and suddenly one was available. It almost looked like they had a place with lots of people just waiting to be dead and give their organs. And it was a very young liver, also, and very healthy. 200k, it cost her. How lucky can you be?

Very sketchy place. Several famous international transplant surgeons have spoken out against this and suspect China to pre screen prisoners and then execute them "on demand" for such surgeries as the likelyhood of finding a suitable donor is just zero in those timeframes of a few hours.

@@jeffb.140 they have prison camps with millions working as slaves , that is how you get dead cheap products . Tibetians, muslim uygurs and political prisoners who criticise all end up here. want a organ ? They have list of prisoners with medical data on file, Identify the slave and chop him up and get the organs. Turkey hospitals also used to do it with captured prisnors from ISIS terrorists!
