One thing I do not agree with, is the whole thing about "Daigo getting bad seeding". I like story lines and whatnot in tournaments, but I also think that seeding should primarily be done through merit and if we got by merit in majors alone - Daigo has not been playing to the degree where he should get "good" seeding anymore. I like Daigo, I like what he's done for the scene over the years, I know he's very good with his Ken online, but you also have to take into account that despite a lot of top players in SF6 period living in Japan, it's also a LOT easier to rank up there and get matched with more people. You have such an incredibly wide array of players in your ranked pool because of how the region locking works that you end up getting connection to the majority of Japan from anywhere in Japan so you can, even though it shouldn't discredit how good he is, quite literally brute force your way into high legend in Japan just from quantity alone if you are remotely good and you don't lose too many matches. Daigo's offline/tournament results however leave something to be desired and I genuinely believe he's lost his "it's Daigo so he should get his own seeding" privileges from his SF6 results, if nothing else, trying to do stuff like that is one of the reasons why we've had such weird seeding lately in the tournaments. He's had very volatile placements and if you can't consistently break into top 8, you shouldn't get biased seeding. But that's just my opinion.

Seeding was 100% based on world warrior points. Daigo WAS seeded highly because he performed well. It was Hibiki the beast who wasn't seeded, he was completely unseeded because his performance in WW wasn't great, but he's won tournaments elsewhere. Daigos seed was fine but they totally overlooked hibiki. Your entire comment is based on the wrong outlook.

@Brian_F I guess you are right about that. I do feel like not all top #1 characters are the same, and not all loses feel the same. It's one thing to watch a replay and realise there were things you could have done to win a match against a top 5 character like S2 Canmy or Rog. It's another entirely to get wrecked by S3 Abigail as Rog and the only thing you could have done better is not getting hit at all or guessing right every single time.

This is just another demonstration of why JP is overrated. He's such a technical and complex character with weird matchups always on a razor's edge. He's just not reliable enough in a tournament environment. Compared to Ken and Luke who just do the same strong things over and over. Much less margin for error. Far fewer vulnerabilities to exploit. There's a reason there's only 3 qualified JPs and 11 Lukes. Despite more JPs than Lukes entering these tournaments.
