yeah well, the console lifespan is long, in 2-3 years you'll see pc's beat em at the same price.
@ZAGAN-OZ4 жыл бұрын
@@Cenzurat I dont think even in 3 years you can beat the consoles. Case/PSU will always cost the same. Your best bet is a bit better GPU. Once you can get $200 GPU with 2080S perf and 6 Core CPU with 8 Core perf. Even than looking at the prices now still moe $500+. Consoles might get cheaper.
@RiceCubeTech4 жыл бұрын
@@ZAGAN-OZ everyone is quoting rtx 2080 for the consoles, we still have yet to see it. Consoles claim 4k 60, but consoles in the past have had frame dips, not run at 3840*2160 (usually somewhere between 1080 and 4K) or bot been at the equivalent “high detail settings”. Never trust marketing material. Besides, a pc does much more than game, and a pc can run more than what was made for it at the time. A last gen console can’t play the newest games at any resolution, a 980ti would still play almost all modern games at 1080p 60fps. A 1080ti would do the same with a better frame rate and possibly 1440p. And you can get those cheap with plenty of life left on them. Contrary to what you think, most people don’t upgrade PCs every 2-3 years. I know people running on 4790ks that’s over 6 years old.

I genuinely think that X99 platform is not utterly garbage. If you can get a programmer (CH341A), you could restore the original bios for that motherboard and try again that turbo unlock method, which really helps with the performance of these processors. Anyway great video !
@josepedrocarmo58854 жыл бұрын
You can still recover that motherboard! Remove the EEPROM chip, solder some wires and get a Raspberry PI to reprogram it. Once you're done, resolder the EEPROM chip back in the motherboard. Look for "Recover Bricked BIOS using FlashRom on a Raspberry PI" video on KZbin.

Pretty sure this setup might beat yours :P Anyways, I like your content. Keep going. You sir got an new subscriber :D Greetings from Germany! :))

For power supplies you can always check the 12v rail Amps. Seems like the power supply you picked up lives to it's promise and it also seems to have the same spec with the first gen Segotep GP900G (wich also has 20A on the 3.3 and 5v and 66A on the 12v rail) For the xeon unlock you should have dumped your bios from the actual motherboard onto your pc and start modifying that one, don't take bioses out there as there is always a risk of something going wrong since all those chinese brands/oems salvage parts from scrape boards and use them on their new built ones, so chipsets may vary from one batch to another

Wait, why did you buy that motherboard? On ali you can get the huananzhi X99 F8 or Jingsha D8 for just around that price, 107 usd is an absolute rip off for that board, as it runs in single channel regardless of how many dimms are in it, and the quad channel mem would absolutely have helped your memory performance. Also, you could have gone with one of the OEM only V3 xeons and gotten ddr3 support so you could at least have gotten lower latency 1866, or 2133 if you went with a 2678v3 or higher.

The new Enermax power supplies are scary cheap. What's up with that? Maxpro II lineup. Are they EU-only? I had to urgently replace my 9 year old PSU just recently, and was looking at those, as well as the low end Seasonic S12-III. I ended up splurging on a Seasonic Focus GX550 which i got a decent deal on and overnight delivery, which was pretty vital considering most of my other devices are dead, laptop is dead, tablet has died... Maybe something you want is a stock of BIOS chips (i think W25Q128FV should do, about $2 for 5 pieces) and a CH341A programmer with test clamp (about $4 i think? i forget). Don't forget to pull the battery, short it out quick, and reinsert it if the board doesn't start after an update! And backups. Backups + test clamp programmer. The BIOS startup screen when the computer was working is Machinist, but the graphics is an easy mod. Maybe the board is wrong, actually different hardware, but not being Machinist doesn't seem to be the problem here. There are a lot of board variants, and it figures if the peripherals or the chipset don't match the BIOS, you won't have a working board. But they often equip the same board with a random different chipset, depending on stock situation.
@Dexx1s4 жыл бұрын
7:17 you got a machinist splash screen though. Maybe it was a bios for a different machinist board.

The whole idea of such system is a lot more common than Ryzen or i9s . The thing is getting a high end graphic card with 2080 performance is more a used market idea or a 3080 by luck. For 1080 p gaming in 2020 maybe a 1080 or rx580 is still the best option for any new gamer or people with low end cards. So CPU is not an issue at all. But reccomending old Xeon over Ivy or Haswell is a total risk on motherboard and game instructions. Good job my friend.
