Fun fact: in most fight scenes in films the grab of the shoulder is a timed cue to tell the performers where the next move is coming from. Its clever that wrote the actual fighting style of the BLANKS in that way, so they could burry the moves of choreography into the fights for our actors. Made the scenes even more dramatic, stylised and action packed that way.

The bit where Gary is just trying to drink the pint is just action brilliance. It reminds me of old Jackie Chan movies. The enemy's objective is to kill Gary and Gary's objective is totally unrelated; he just to finish his drink. We don't know what he's gonna do after he drinks it and frankly we don't care because all he wants in this moment is to finish his beer and that's so much more interesting to watch than two people who just want to kill each other.

Such an amazing fight scene. I love how quickly it progresses at times that you don't even see all the blows. For instance at 0:43, a blank hits Steven, Gary wipes out that blank, another blank hits Gary, Steven kills that blank and then a THIRD blank tumbles onto Gary pushing him over. THAT entire sequence happens in about TWO seconds.
@honeyquartz2116 Жыл бұрын
My favourite part about this scene personally is how all of the characters make decisions that are completely in character- such as Peter not actually doing much to contribute to the fight and hiding wherever he can, Gary continuously prioritising the Golden Mile over the literal lives of both himself and those around him- Andy being the one to carry the fight and Sam trying to contribute to the fight as much as possible but freezing up when she sees the Blank Oliver. I also think it's so cool how they establish in the opening scene how Andy was/is a rugby player, something that is especially shown in this scene in not just the fact that he carries the fight- but also the way he fights the Blanks feeling like most of the techniques he uses come straight from his experience as a rugby player. I love how almost everything about these characters are established immediately and explored in almost every line of dialogue and every decision and action these characters take only amplifies these characters and personalities. Genuinely one of my top films of all time and I could go on for much longer as to how much I appreciate this movie and everything it has to offer

Love this movie. "For though we may return with a twinkle in our eyes, we will indeed be blind....DRUNK."

Suprisingly, this fight scene would be the slow-paced counterpart of the church fight scene in "Kingsman : The Secret Service"

I kinda pissed me off when Pete never pulled his weight in the fight scenes, but it broke my heart when he finally found it in himself to fight, eventually leading to his death not 5 minutes later

Yeah. My favorite shot is when Andy grabs the 2 stools, to use them to fight the blanks with. A total badass scene!

Andy solo'd that pub by himself and was ready to keep going. The dude had nothing but drunken anger, spite, rage, and maybe a little bit of joy in his system.

The song in the background is titled “20 seconds to comply” and around the 20 second mark after the alarm is hit, Nick Frost made the decision to attack. It’s subtle little things like this that make this movie G-O-L-D. Edgar Wright is such a damn treasure.

@MacXHammer3 жыл бұрын
I did actually but didn't properly appreciate it back then as I basically wasn't familiar with any of Edgar Wright's work back then...I only saw it in the cinema "by accident" cause the trailer was "kind of funny" but I didn't really know what to think of it back then... I have grown too love this movie a lot more since when I saw it at the cinema, but my favourite Wright-movie will always be Hot Fuzz
