????? HK is literally known for being a country w/ extremely high GDP and import rates. It's incredibly popular for tourists and businesses alike and it has some of the most competitive schools and universities (where not only are students encouraged to take AP and IB, they also recommend Gaokao scores, SAT, ACT, and accept A-levels). I'm not sure who you think is 'stepping down on' (???) Hong Kong--even if the rest of the world (which, hint hint, is NOT limited to Western Civilization) seem to have a prejudice against the country (which does not reflect in terms of culture, or economics and trade) it is nothing compared to COUNTLESS other countries that are hated on far more than Hong Kong is. And really, if you think this *McDonalds* is the most impressive thing about Hong Kong, maybe it's your problem. I've always been proud to be Cantonese, and I can find about a million things that are incredibly impressive about Hong Kong, from being home to one of the ONLY current SIX Disney Resorts despite Hong Kong's size, its incredibly unique and engaging cultural backstory, its high literacy rates, and how connected it is to the rest of the world through trade and commerce. Sure, HK isn't the perfect utopia with its high rent and living rates, wealth gap, and environmental/weather issues, but there's a hell lot of things to be proud of. Your attitude is disappointing.

I live on Guam and there is a McDonalds in the south that uses a shipping container as the restaurant and a pop up canopy for the plastic tables and foldable chairs. It was the first time Ive seen that in all my years. I believe they closed this year though...

Australia had shaker fries in 2013 but I'm sure they also had it years before that but they discontinued it. Products come and go in different countries. It's not just a few countries. Australia also has those electronic self serve screens. I've heard that they have also been established in other countries.

In my XP at a McD in Hong Kong, I saw an elderly woman sitting alone who didn't order anything. When a customer left, she SHOCKED me by quickly taking their seat and eating their leftovers. I WAS STUNNED AND TRIED TO DIGEST IN MY BRAIN 🧠. In US, homeless people will usually approach and beg any customer directly for spare change and then use it to order simple food.
