when the bike overheats is it the motor/esc/liquid cooling system overheating or is it the battery that overheats? if it is the motor/cooling system which i suspect it is then i believe you could swap the stock radiator with a larger one, larger rad fan, and most of all by far, make some sort of air duct system that flows positive pressure air from forward movement through the radiator.

I would like to now, what is over heating is it the motor or the battery?

@MikeonBikes6 ай бұрын
Don’t know yet, no temperature gauge is available yet. The battery is lukewarm coming off the track, guessing maybe 30-35C. The engine is blazing hot, you can’t even touch it with your hand. Based on this, maybe motor, maybe controller. Will figure it out eventually.
@maarkkkm6 ай бұрын
@@MikeonBikes yea based off all the people I've talked to, the motor is the issue. They really tried to push a lot of power out of a really small motor to save weight.

Adrien Goguet ran the stark in the french supermoto championship last year at villars sous écots and seems like the main issue was traction. There's a short video of it floating around on youtube and a french article on the insane-parts website.The way the electric motor delivers its power it can quickly overwhelm the rear tyre from what I gathered if you're not managing throttle, though I imagine if you had proper acces to the control unit you could tune that in such a way that the power comes on more smoothly even in the full power mode the bike offers. From what I recall they ran the bike in a 55hp setting on tarmac and 35 hp in the dirt to make it work. I can see that thing being a weapon on faster tracks where grip is less of an issue. But trying to put down 80hp on a tighter track with an offroad section where you have to deal with dirty tyres on top pf that things could get dicy quick I think. Nice build nevertheless!
@MikeonBikes6 ай бұрын
It appears stark must have done a lot of work with the power delivery since then. The firmware has been updated a couple of times since then. My bike at 80hp mode is not uncontrollable. Does require more throttle control than on the KTM, but not impossible. Even on tight tracks, with dirt. I have the same laptimes on those tracks with this bike as my KTM 450 SMR.
@nathanbaeyens28564 ай бұрын
After briefly riding one, the power basically feels like what an absolutely maxed out combustion engine would be capable of, except without any of the cost of that or risk of blowing it up. I guess theoretically its not faster than the best of the best combustion engine bikes, but I do think it's extremely good value and will upset a lot of people that dont have one
@LB-hv3zl6 ай бұрын
Very cool. First thing I thought of when I saw this bike. What is the frontend of of? Espacially the triple clamp because of the steering stop and stuff or did you have to modify this? Is this like common parts like KTM/Husqvarna stuff, also Wheels and Swingarm? You said it's a FS450 Wheel in the back? Would be interested in Details of the conversion, which parts fit and so on.

Do you reckon the engine brake management is good enough to allow backing in as with shift down on ICE engine? I know sliding has phased out of the riding style nowadays, but for a recreational ride like me (FS450) that is part of the fun 😊 is it feasible on that machine or the Electric dictates a smooth clean riding with no slide on braking phases? (I would slide on throttle no doubts 😂) Thank you for your input! Great video! Greetings from down under!
@MikeonBikes6 ай бұрын
Currently the re-gen braking is not good enough at higher settings, 70%+, to work well for backing it in. The rear starts bouncing or feels choppy when using too much re-gen. Lower settings for re-gen, like 35%, and a lot of rear brake application does the trick though.

I'm working on setting up my varg for supermoto, any way you have a breakdown of parts? I currently have an FS450 and a couple of spare Alpina wheels for rains, that I was planning on installing on the bike. it sounds like the rear is just a straight swap, It sounds like the front, however you've completely swapped out. I'd love to learn more (parts list etc) Thanks!

i don't understand the last “tip”. why shouldn't this be a TRAINING bike? yes ok just limit it to 60ps as mentioned in the video then you just ride in 60ps mode (apart from the fact that the torque is still higher than that of a 60ps combustion engine). and thus learn to ride CLEAN if you want to be faster. alternatively you can also test with 65-70ps how long the cooling can take it and maybe in +/- 30min that is enough to get the moped cool enough for the next training turn. as you said, 60ps can apparently last in your racepace, so there's nothing to be said against a training mode!

@MikeonBikes6 ай бұрын
That’s all good; neither 2-strokes or 4-strokes will magically disappear because electric bikes are now highly competitive. It will take even longer before electric bikes become really mainstream and all top shelf racing will be electric. I’m guesstimating 5-10 years for that to happen. Electric does have the major benefit of allowing tracks in the middle of big cities, indoors and in people’s backyards with the neighbors not complaining.

@@guyonthecouch136 Because i tried an electric bike, and yes the acceleration is impressive and the bike didn't feel as heavy as i expected it. But gets a bit boring once you get used to acceleration of the bike, i miss shifting gears, using the clutch and hearing the sound of an engine. And at least for me it was a lot more fun to back it in with the clutch and shifting gears. I had that experience with an electric bike, and it was ok but nothing special.
