Yeah I don't see zoro being stronger than mihawk until their fight, he'll probably have to surpass him mid battle like he did with mr 1 and king. I personally think mihawk will be zoros last fight in the series as i believe all the straw hats will achieve their dream around the same time, with the exception of usopp whose dream is linked with a specific island

Anyone think that Mihawk could join up with Shanks? That's probably the easiest way for him to still chill as much as he does as a warlord. And this way it would set up Luffy vs Shanks and Zoro vs Mihawk in a Davy back fight

I seriously doubt the davy back fight will ever make a reappearance. I was never really cemented as a part of the pirate lore/world building and we know Oda struggles a little bit with that aspect of One Piece, seeing how he completely forgot about bounty hunters lol. From a storytelling perspective there is not enough serious built up for what would be such an amazing potential payoff if you know what I mean.

I’d rather find out Shanks was an extension of the World Government and fell into that role after being with Roger. Then when he met Luffy, he was reminded of his sailing days and grew to resent his role that he had adopted, betting the future on this new Pirate King. That’s why he only wanted to meet Luffy again when he became a great pirate because the next time he meets him, he’ll have to kill him. That way you could have a huge reveal and a good enough reason for Luffy’s crew to fight for their lives seriously against Shank’s crew. Then you could add Blackbeard into the mix and have a free for all between the Three Emperors of the Sea. Could be at the final island where Blackbeard wants the One Piece to destroy the world, Shanks to secure it for the World Government, and Luffy to become the Pirate King. Three monsters at cross purposes who will destroy the world to fulfill their will. Red Hair D. Shanks ;)

could be that mihawk had to defeat his old master to be considered a master of the sword. mihawk plans to do the same with zoro but he is gonna temporarily join shanks crew and so he can take him on. that way mihawk takes him on as a foe as well as his master and also stands in the way of luffy's dream as well as his. shanks likely has something similar in mind for luffy.

I feel Jack deserves his billion bounty considering he fought the minks to a standstill for FIVE days then on Onigashima he had to be brought down by the minks in sulong form and even then he was up and fighting after a brief rest. Definitely not a weakling but not as cool as my bro Queen.

also the only one actually doing things. queen just does dance numbers in a prison that was meant to convert prisoners to kaido's side, but hasn't gotten one, and king is pulling border patrol despite the fact that the people he wants getting in least are the only ones actually getting in. Jack pulled five days straight of combat, and immediately left to save joker. sure he failed, but it says something that he even tried despite knowing who was guarding him

I think you forgot that Mihawk was the one that was constantly seeking Shanks for a duel to prove his strength. I'm pretty sure that Mihawk will purposely put himself in the way of Zoro to test his strength at some point. In some way Mihawk reminds me of Hisoka waiting for his prays power to mature so he can have fun in a fight.

I don't recall that being the case. In fact, fighting Mihawk is what made Shanks so well known in the first place. Hell, even in the manga we see Shanks low key trying to pick a fight with Mihawk.

I think because maybe a big part of improvement comes from actually real fights. Training is one thing; what really tests your skills is when you are fighting another person who is also very skilled, I challenging moments is when your realize what your are truly capable of and what you need to fix or improve. Mihawk's best sparring partner lost his arm, and there is no one out there who can really give him a challenge. Sure, he spars with the baboons and maybe occasionally fight opponents. But I don't think he has been challenged as a fighter for a long time.hasnt had to sweat in a long timetime. He got excited when the marines went after him

TLDR; mihawk is old and at his prime, where zoro is young and still growing. age and experience. Mihawk is 41 and has gone through his training and has already gone through most of his growth. I am not saying he cant still growing, but one piece most certainly has a narrative of generations and the new generation out growing the old. Where zoro during the time skip seems to of gone from 19-21, a natural period in life where you rapidly grow. Not to mention zoro was very much still in experienced and knew where he needed to reach.

Zoro v Mihawk is probably the only fight I can see happen where there isn’t an antagonist because of the exchange after their first fight. Their eventual final fight will be to tie back to that and determine if Zoro has surpassed Mihawk

I dont think mihawk need to be an antagonist for zoro to duel him seriously. It could be as simple as a honorable duel that swordsmans respect. Mihawk sense that zoro is ready and accept the rematch.

I agree, I always assumed that that is what is going to happen. A duel between swordsmans for the tittle seems like a totally normal thing to happen. I don't see Mihawk becoming an enemy, and i don't see other person defeating Mihawk first and Zoro having to defeat that person (it's not impossible, but it's super anticlimatic in my opinion).

Fujitora is gonna be one of the most influential/impactful people in the story. I don't agree to the antagonist part, I don't see him being anti- anything that would be enough to call him that, but he certainly may cause problems in the future or solve them unexpectedly. But... I gotta be honest, Fujitora is one of the most bad-ass characters in the series, I freaking love him and the vibes he brings... And let's not forget the insanely OP fruit he has. To put it bluntly, zoro isn't the world's greatest swordsman until he fights mihawk, wins, and then morgans writes a story declaring zoro the best. I do agree with where zoro is in terms of strength. Can't agree with the 'zoro still hasn't been pushed in new world' take after the king fight tho. The drug put zoro to basically even health/stamina with king (though I agree neither were 100% fresh). Then zoro won extremely high difficulty and is quite literally on death's door. If thats not 'being pushed', nothing is.

You're totally avoiding the fact that swordmen like zoro and even Mihawk have a code. And challenging one another is totally their thing. I think the idea of Mihawk needing to be an antagonist is wrong. Their first encounter was not antagonistic... they all could have walked away Zoro challenged him and I believe that Zoro will do just that again... its a promise he made to Kuinia and its a promise he made to Luffy. When said event occurs it will probably happen randomly.

I can't subscribe to the idea of Mihawk not being Zoro's biggest fight whether it happens right after Wano or end of series. From the very beginning of the story Mihawk has been hyped up to be the guy to beat and after the first time they fought and Mihawk humiliated Zoro and then told him 'learn more about the world and yourself and come find me I'll be here on the top waiting for you no matter how long it takes'. All the respect to other top tier Swordsmen but they are either going to go down before Zoro fights Mihawk so Zoro can grow more before the main event or they become fodders after Zoro becomes the best Swordsman ever.

He wants a strong opponent and now he would have one I could definitely see him just showing up and saying "hey, fight me". I think it would be a waste for them not to have one last big battle. I've never really thought that Shanks was ever going to fight Luffy, I don't feel that their relationship is building towards it. That being said... I DO think that Shanks VS. Zoro would be the penultimate swordsman fight of the series. Perhaps Shanks decides to test if Zoro is worthy of protecting The King of the Pirates' back.

Mihawk is a vanilla swordsman like Zoro. No devil fruits (That we know of), just swordsmanship. I don't want Zoro to have to beat anyone else for the title because Futitora or Shiriyu may lean on their devil fruits in battle. If you declare yourself the greatest swordsman a devil fruit shouldn't be involved.

If mihawk or shanks get defeated (worse, if it happens off screen) it would be very disappointing. Yeah, I feel like people that root for Mihawk to be beaten by a third party fail to recognize that that would completely undercut Zoro. Especially, if it's like the suggested opponents where both have devil fruits which augment their abilities meaning that even if Zoro beats them, it doesn't necessarily mean he'd have beaten Mihawk. I think that the Mihawk fight could absolutely happen in service to the plot, in much the same way their first one did. Mihawk is Zoro's goal, it's time to see how far he's come. I suspect it will end with Zoro cutting through Yoru and slashing Mihawk in much the same way Mihawk did him.

Oden did have 2 swords that seems to be about equivalent in power, and Zoro can only wield one, somewhat. So, I wouldn't use that as a comparison. Also, we don't know when Kaido was defeated all those times, and we don't know how strong he was back then vs now. Zoro did injure Kaido, but it was clear, Oden was going to actually defeat Kaido, not just injure him.

White Beard fought the strongest fighters to see which people would join his family hence why he has no females on his Crew at all, and Roger if he were like a copy/paste version of Luffy then he’d be like face me Big Mom, Kaido, White Beard, Rocks, and Shiki one v one, so yes even characters like White Beard and Roger weren’t Pirate Crews that fought just because of the fun of it.

I think all the strawhats dreams end on happy cliffhangers and thats how the series ends. Like Zoro will be starting the duel with mihawk and it will end rockey 3 style. Ussop will be landing on syrupy villiage but we wont see him meet the gang again. Sanji will be fishing looking for all blue and catch something but we wont see what. Things like that. Giving us the audience a happy enough conclusion while being vague enough to imply that the adventure will continue for all of them after the story is done being told. And that will just be the very last chapter or so as an epilogue, im not saying Oda is going to break up the strawhats again for the plot

I've got two issues with this. 1. My own wild theory. I think there's eventually going to be an occurrence that dismantles the current state of the Marines. Look at Colby, Garp, Drake, Fujitora and how they affect other marines. Take how Luffy interacts with Grount and Fujitora and how even as an enemy they get respect for Luffy. I'd like to see Kuzan come back and with all the Marines that stand for true justice take Luffys side and reinvent the marines while you see Sakazuki and Vega Punk need to become pirates. 2. Fujitoras inspiration. Anyone not familiar with the Zatoichi serise might want to watch it. If he's anything like the legend he's based on he simply cant be a true enemy to Luffys crew.

I do have to wonder if Mihawk might not seek Zoro out because he can tell that he is starting to slip from age. Like, he's still at his prime, but Mihawk can tell he's starting to go downhill and wants to fight Zoro before that happens so no one can claim that Zoro didn't really beat him.

I have theory, what if Roger found the Gomu Gomu no mi on Laughtale along with one piece and was instructed to pass the WILL by devilfruit. Roger ate the fruit on last of his journey . When he died ,the fruit was again appeared in the world, which the World government discovered the fruit and was transported by the CP9 .Shanks stole the fruit, because he knows about the fruit by his captain before the disband of the crew. Shanks was about to give the fruit to Ace , because Roger believed his son would be the one to find the One piece after him. But Luffy ate the fruit by accident and Shanks was simply believed in Luffy to carry the will.

(Spoilers for anime only’s?) I personally disagree with your statement that Zoro hasn’t been challenged in the New World. You consider Zoro to not have been challenged by King since he was tired then, but we have to remember that he did get that miracle drug that brought him back into fighting condition. And if Zoro being in perfect condition is an issue, then we can talk about how he was challenged by both emperors on the roof-where he coincidentally brought out Asura, his strongest move that he has yet to use after the time skip and has only ever used twice pre-time skip, when he was most challenged (Saboady and Enies Lobby). So due to him pulling Asura out… I really think he was seriously challenged now. If we’re talking about a serious challenge by another swordsman, then I can concede he hasn’t met his match. But that’s just I think personally.

About that Luffy's dream thing. What if it is something in the lines of "I want to see everything". He wants to become pirate king because that would be the person with the most freedom. Freedom for a kid would mean being able to do whatever they want, go wherever they want . Law is really underrated as a swordsman, to the point where he wasn’t even mentioned in this video! He uses swordsmanship in tandem with his devil fruit powers, same as Fujitora. During Dressrosa, Doflamingo commented that “his swordplay was second to none” or something along those lines, and ever since I have considered Law to be a true swordsman, especially when you take into account the fact that many of his devil fruit abilities are based around his swordplay. A lot of people seem to think his swordsmanship is reliant on his powers, but he actually just uses both to enhance the other, as we see he isn’t as effective a devil fruit user without his sword. His fruit has so much potential that people often forget that Law is a swordsman! Which is funny since his sword is one of the most iconic parts of his appearance. As far as feats, I’m pretty sure he’s faced off with more upper tier people on this list than Zoro. He sliced Kinemon(!) and Tashigi into pieces, fought Fujitora to a standstill while also in a 2v1, and seems to at least have gotten the drop on Zoro several different times. I’m not sure how a real fight would go, but I can see Law having the advantage. He should definitely be up there as far as strongest swordsmen in the series.

I think after Zoro defeat Mihawk, someone's (a strong swordsman) will kill mihawk in a sword duel. So Zoro didn't actually become the wgs after defeating mihawk but he will avenge him in his final battle in the series. Because I think it would be weird if Zoro fight mihawk in the end of series, like it's way to late. Idk maybe Oda already have a plan for that.

So many uses for so many different types of characters, imagine a hand to hand fighting character with it. Absolutely op, makes his weight low so hes super quick then before landing kicks or punches you get hit by a super quick advanced armament haki (ryuo) first that weighs an unfathomably large amount , your pretty much gonna get one shotted.
